  1. I suspect you are correct. There's more to that peninsula than meets the eye.
  2. Apparently not. There is nothing to indicate that anything has occurred in the CBD or along Euclid. Based upon the interactive map, they've started outward, at the city line (neighborhoods), working their way inward, towards the CBD.
  3. How generous of them. We're entitled to our opinions. Mine of UAL is "0." It would appear they have slowly relinquished control of "C" gates, but my loyalty is gone forever.
  4. What's unfortunate is that UAL knows they have CLE by the b_lls. That is why they provide just enough service to get by, while blocking other airlines from expansion. They don't even bother to duplicate service to other carriers' hubs for their beloved frequent fliers; places like Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte or Minneapolis. Until that changes, CLE will continue to have mediocre service, at best. ...and BTW, they pulled the hub twice. You may be too young to remember, I however am not. When built, all of Concourse C was almost exclusively UAL, with a few Northwest gates. UAL, pulled out and Continental filled the gap. We all know what happened post merger.
  5. Of the top 16 MSAs, how many of them have direct flights on United? You can already cross off New York (Manhattan), Boston and DC (The District) and they do fly to ORD, LAX, DEN and SFO. What about: Dallas Phoenix Detroit Philadelphia Miami Atlanta Seattle Orlando Minneapolis Does UAL offer direct service to any of these destinations? If the answer is to a couple but not all of these key population and business centers, I would question, why is UAL being supported in the Land? They aren't even the best of the legacy carriers, let alone the best airline.
  6. The fact that UAL would drop flights to critical close-to-CBD destinations like LaGuardia, Reagan and Boston is an indicator of what they think of CLE. Their greed and arrogance has ruined Hopkins, turning almost 1/2 of the airport into mothballs. My business travel is booked through Egencia (Expedia for business), where you book the least expensive reasonably-accomodating flight. We aren't required to fly specific carriers.
  7. Doesn't matter. That's still only 12 cities. If you consider the top twenty cities, that wouldn't even get you back to Cleveland because its ranked number 52. That means one would have to fly to ORD to get to IND. The other airlines also require connections, so why continue to support an airline that has turned it's back on loyal CLE customers twice? Is that how UAL repays customer loyalty, with direct flights to only 12 destinations? It's absolutely ridiculous! They need to feel it in their pockets before they take notice. Fortunately there's demand and competition, so other airlines, as indicated above, will quickly move in to fill their void. UAL can go to h_ll!

  9. Is it true that DL no longer offers non-stop CVG to CLE? They used to offer Delta Express/Comair flights.
  10. According to the CDC article, UAL now only offers 12 direct flights from Cleveland. Seriously? Why would Clevelanders continue to support UAL? Where's the civic pride? I'm with KJP!
  11. ...especially with all of the new apartments going in downtown.
  12. I would have thought that OC would have been a perfect alternative location, within the city limits. It may have also helped to jumpstart other development with CPD also going in there.
  13. It's unfortunate and only time will tell, but also being along the river, the Bedrock site may have posed similar challenges to Scranton. I have to think that a century of heavy manufacturing and runoff has resulted in inorganic pollutants leaching into the soil all along the river and its banks.
  14. The maps, published by SW, indicates Weston and Jacobs.
  15. Let's see if this has legs and they can actually get things done.... https://www.cleveland.com/business/2020/02/jobsohio-creates-4-million-fund-to-lure-new-air-service-to-ohio-airports-including-cleveland-hopkins.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=clevelanddotcom_sf&fbclid=IwAR2_kQAQ9adSO8TVjA9VhuzUj5P1z5_J4mSeSSLlkA0lc9XVl7fABP33y18
  16. ODOT will begin building highways to nowhere. They are so freeway/highway focused, it makes me sick to my stomach.
  17. He does mention that the moves will happen over time. I suspect that they will continue to consolidate operations once the facilities are complete.
  18. The main Cleveland VA facility has been on Wade Park for many decades. Brecksville was more of a satellite facility.
  19. Income may and sales should be there from retail. What about real estate taxes though?
  20. ...and how quickly Stark moves his project forward. It's been sitting on the shelf for what, five years? If this is in deed what he's been waiting for, they should be ready to flip the switch upon approval.
  21. As we're starting to see, if these corporations want to attract young talent and remain relevant, they have no choice than to be located in more urban areas. Younger people don't want to drive to the suburbs to work. They want to work near where they live and play; even as a Boomer, if I lived in downtown Cleveland, which I would, I wouldn't want to drive to the snowbelt for work.
  22. Reviewing the various threads and their webpage, the "Knez" name is on multiple projects all over the City. They tend to be smaller complexes, multi-unit or single- family, but they're having an impact all over Cleveland. Kudos to Knez, they are absolutely taking care of business and getting things done! Complexes: The Avenue Breakwater Bluffs Gallery 7 The Nikolai Ravella West 19 Ashbury Avenue Townhomes The Gramercy Circle North Single family homes in: Detroit Shoreway Fairfax Metro West Newburgh Heights Ohio City Trailside Tremont West Park
  23. I'm sure permits are supposed to be required, if for no other reason than for fire safety.
  24. Except for Staten Island to Manhattan or Palm Beach Outlets to Clematis, I can't think of any other city that would have an Outlet Mall so close to the CBD. It will be unique.
  25. These look like they were originally built as two-family homes. When you say "chopped-up," do you mean they are now being used as multiple-occupant residences? Doesn't the City require permits, before chopping-up homes or do these owners make illegal conversions? They could both stand to be spruced up so no great loss, but I've seen much worse in other parts of the eastside.
