  1. When built, wasn't the Landmark Office Tower (SW's current headquarters) iconic? While their new HQ may not achieve the heights many of us would hope for, I'm sure it too will be iconic, with the intent of being a solid home for another 100 years.
  2. Are these indicators that the parcels are being legally cleaned up and consolidated for purchase by a single entity?
  3. I also like the design, color/brick selections, but it's too bad there are so few outward-facing windows on the end units. Perhaps they intend to add additional units to the end?
  4. Where is Marty15? He's pulling one of KJP's numbers; dropping strong hints, then silence. Lol. You can't leave us all hanging like that!
  5. While expensive, isn't there an opportunity to relocate some of these to other areas of the city? NYC relocated a theater in the Times Square area back in the 90s, with the help of Disney.
  6. Then it needs to be fixed. There are too many neglected or abandoned properties that as stated above, attract negative elements and/or adversely affect the neighboring properties, driving down property values and attracting crime. It becomes an insidious blight that metastasizes like a cancer.
  7. Then, if not already done, laws should be placed on the books to seize.
  8. That's a responsibility of property ownership. I can assure you, if the owner lived there, it would be appropriately maintained. If they can't afford to maintain their property, it should be remedied through the appropriate channels. There are far too many slumlords and/or absent landlords (except to collect rent), who are allowed to neglect their properties.
  9. Oh, pardon me. Two point nine million people are suburbanites.
  10. It's an indication of how few people in NEO actually live in the city proper; 3.2 M are suburbanites.
  11. I still don't understand what it is that CLE must do to capture some of these international flights. As the City plans for the future of Hopkins, what should be included in their planning process?
  12. Boston CSA is also the sixth largest in the US with 8M people. Cleveland is 17th with 3.5M. I would suspect that with that much population, they also have the demand. Then again, there are smaller CSAs with international service, like Charlotte, Denver, Pittsburgh and Salt Lake City, but all, except PIT, have hubs.
  13. It should not take 35 minutes to get from Coventry to Shaker Square. That's crazy!
  14. Doesn't Salesforce also have a big presence in Indy?
  15. We really have to give PHSF their props. They've magnificently restored the theatres, some of which were borderline non-restorable, created a new neighborhood in the CBD and developed this iconic high-rise that will set a new standard for high-rise living in Cleveland. They've demonstrated it can be done and done better. Kudos PHSF!
  16. So to summarize, as the City begins its long-range airport plan, the feeling is that unless the corporate community provides airline incentives, the plan should be based upon LCCs and a few legacy carriers utilizing mid-sized aircraft.
  17. I think the original point was that we should await surveying teams. Subsequently it has been revealed that there's an 8' height difference across the site.
  18. So back to my original question: Is it (the City, business community, CLE) positioning itself to take advantage of the opportunity?
  19. So in other words CLE is relegated to LCCs and connections to international destinations?
  20. They don't accomodate A321XLRs because they aren't yet commercially available. The question is: When they are commercially available, will CLE be positioned (operationally or otherwise) to compete for those transcontinental routes into/out-of smaller markets?
  21. As mentioned upthread and the Ohio dual airport thread, several carriers are planning to use smaller Airbus A321XLR, single-aisle aircraft on new transcontinental routes; JetBlue and SAS are two carriers purchasing the new aircraft. Can CLE be prepared to compete in this market? 22. So the pendulum has finally begun to shift? That's a good thing. It sounds as though ODOT may be changing its perception and support of urban mass transit. I wonder what has precipitated the change? Historically it has provided more support for highways, freeways and interchanges vs railcars, buses and right-of-ways. I thought RTA was considering fare hikes and service cuts to support an operational budget deficit...
  23. This is amazing! I used to work at St. Luke's in the 80s, was sad to hear of its closure but so glad to see this new, high-quality development.
  24. Unfortunately the Art Moderne gem was demolished in 1978.
