  1. While somewhat "avant garde," the Bond Department Store was very unique yet appropriate for it's time, from an historical perspective. Too bad it saw the wrecking ball for National City Center. BTW, at least the new street lamps are no longer powder blue as indicated in the photos below.
  2. It could be built next to Stokes. It could achieve its desired height (from river level), be close to transit and "appear" to be a shorter high-rise.
  3. Right now I think GCRTA is focused on vehicle replacement and basic daily operations in the face of a huge budget deficit. It's a shame too because westside extensions could actually increase system ridership with investment.
  4. Unfortunately no. Just a suggestion.
  5. I love the way each building's new window inserts are slightly different. They reflect the unique character of each building and their respective windows; a very impressive and extensive restoration.
  6. An E-vehicle showroom.
  7. The money that's been saved, plus the interest, on the Rosales' bridge could be used for the bus tunnel.
  8. Do you think Frankfort will remain open or be closed and integrated into a continuous campus across the Weston parcels? I suspect a skybridge and/or tunnel across W. 3rd.
  9. With a landscaped park on top to provide access from the CBD.
  10. As one would expect, the altitude goes down towards the lake/river. What do the squiggly yellow lines represent?
  11. I don't think this issue is unique to Akron. The same is true in Cleveland and almost every other major city in America; as these new developments come on line, there's a desperate need for a more affordable component for the middle-class. Not everyone can afford $2000-$3000/month in rent.
  12. So there's at least an 8 foot disparity across the site that I suspect would require surveying.
  13. "Why? There has already been soil borings seen being taken." Are those lots completely flat? Is there no difference in altitude between the highest point on Jacob's and the lowest point on Weston?
  14. It sounds like a good vacation airline, where you're trying to maintain your budget. I think I would be very upset though if I had planned a vacation, they cancelled and I was stranded for a few days. I may try them sometime out of FLL. Bottom line: You get what you pay for and as long as expectations are properly aligned, there's little conflict.
  15. At the least they could remove the Jersey barriers and install the black bollards they have elsewhere on the square.
  16. I think this may be part of the rationale for its location; fear that if it's in the CBD, access/regress will be challenging and paid parking will be required, both of which will discourage their target audience from shopping there.
  17. The reflectiveness of 55 PS certainly brightens things up on such a cloudy, dreary day. More reflective glass please!
  18. I've never flown Spirit. They weren't in NYC when I lived there. They have a lot of flights in/out of FLL; AA dominates MIA, with other legacy US and international carriers. How is Spirit?
  19. Sounds like we all have our preferred options and that's great: Ms2Sense can fly AA Cleburger can take UAL and I can take DL/SW
  20. I've been really impressed with Delta; what would appear to be a seemless integration of Northwest, good baggage handling and if I need to connect, I like flying through ATL. There are plenty of dining/boozing options on all of the concourses and I've grown to know the airport terminal very well. I've flown them all over the world with great FC/BC service. Domestically I also use Southwest.
  21. Does the CPD still maintain its horse stables off of the Shoreway? My Dad, a former city employee, used to take me to the stables to see the horses as a kid.
  22. The City is so desperately in need of more affordable housing in every Eastside community. As long as the developments include high-quality pre-school education and social service programs for single and/or working parents and their dependents, the children, through education, may be able to break the cycle of poverty, thereby improving the welfare of the entire city and its inhabitants. As has been well documented, crime usually accompanies desperation, mental health issues, illicit drug use and poverty, the latter of which is a major problem in the City.
  23. We also mustn't forget the supertall condo project on the site of the Old Spaghetti House.
  24. I just can't get over how grimy all of the downtown buildings were until about the late 80s, early 90s. I'm surprised that any of us survived that pollution. Lol
  25. I think Smisek was also forced out as CEO and board chairman due to a scandal involving a "flight to nowhere" and the head of the Port Authority of NYNJ. Karma
