  1. 48 floors, 720 - 960 feet. That would be taller than Terminal Tower!
  2. A 720 ft tower would be lovely!
  3. Ok KJP, don't tease us. What's up?
  4. CLE should be turned over to the Port Authority or sold and privatized. The City is incapable of management oversight with security breaches, inappropriate use of assets, failure to follow FAA regulations, etc., etc., etc. It also has insufficient financial resources to attract international carriers and I'm afraid the airport will never achieve its full potential under City of Cleveland control.
  5. I suspect that when selecting new routes, the airlines simply look at the raw numbers, without necessarily giving consideration to the reasons behind them. They've probably seen growth in the Market and consider it an expansion opportunity, not realizing that it may be shortlived once SW consolidates its operations.
  6. Nice building but is this thread about Pittsburgh or Sherwin-Williams Cleveland headquarters?
  7. I have to assume that the Valspar acquisition by SW has resulted in more CLE/MSP traffic.
  8. Apparently not. There are a number of approved features that, as of now, do not appear in the finished product. The entrance is just one.
  9. I always travel with my passport, even domestically and I keep a copy of the TSA Pre letter, containing the Pre number in my passport sleeve.
  10. Just getting to ORD from the loop is such a challenge. If you have a rental car, you need to make sure your departure is mid-day or late at night, otherwise you risk missing your flight. I've had similar waits for baggage at EWR, ATL, LAX and SFO at night and at LAS in the middle of the day. Now, if I can, I carry on. I used to travel extensively on business and I must admit, while I've "observed" missed landings over the years, the only one that I "personally experienced" was at CLE; rear wheels touched down, the pilot gunned the engines and we were once again airborne.
  11. These are the very characteristics that make CLE such an easy airport to navigate. It's fantastic. You're in and out. I don't like being #32 for takeoff, or delayed for an hour due to weather + traffic. Once international carriers move into medium markets with Airbus' & maybe Boeing's smaller, long-haul, fuel-efficient jets CLE needs to be positioned to capitalize. CLE's challenges pertain to sprawl and its densely populated suburbs. There's a reason why NEO is the most densely populated area in OH.
  12. Did the Horseshoe obtain a variance for its "blacked-out" windows on Ontario?
  13. For a 30+ YO building, the PPG building is iconic, but I would hope that SW settles on a design that will stand the test of time. It sounds as though that is their goal.
  14. All are low-to-mid rise but since I'm not an engineer, I'll ask those who are...would SW require core samples for a low-to-mid rise building if they're built on pads?
  15. Pulled over from SW HQ. "Remember, a developer just needs to get a company to commit to a large enough amount of space to get a project off the ground." Didnt Stark sign Bensche for the Nucleus office project?
  16. Riverfront, PS and/or Weston, the elephant in the room is what will happen to their current offices? That's a lot of space that will be vacated.
  17. Bottom line: CLE cannot grow much in it's current location; it's landlocked. That's one of the reasons the region proposed the Lake Erie jet port four decades ago. It can however utilize its existing space more efficiently; perhaps by building up, or down for parking and any other operational uses that don't require above-ground access.
  18. Based upon previous intel, Morikis seems to be fascinated with a campus-like environment, similar to Goodyear's. That being said, one could envision a campus, built around a central park-like quad for HQ, R&D (possibly resulting in the closure of Frankfort), similar to Breen's riverfront, immaculately-maintained grounds. Also, given SW's low-key demeanor, despite not having the tallest tower on PS visually, they would undeniably dominate the CBD with their urban campus and uniquely designed HQ. Without overtly displaying their stature, their presence, at street level, would make it clear that they're one of the "big dogs." As I'm typing this message, I'm watching a SW 18-wheeler, in all of its SW regalia, getting onto I-395 towards I-95.
  19. As I'm sure we would all agree, EWR and ORD are absolute nightmares; to get to/from via land and flight delays/security. A couple of points: 1. Eliminate the IX Center. I never understood its purpose at the airport anyway 2. Why not utilize Concourse D for international arrivals/departures and C&I. With its restricted access and limited number of flights, the number of gates could be reduced to accommodate larger aircraft. It's relatively new and much better than the Concourse A. 3. What's going on with the old auto assembly plant on Brookpark Road? Is it still in use? That area could be repurposed for parking/auto rental 4. CLE added a 2nd parallel runway not too long ago. Is a third needed to accommodate more traffic or do existing runways need additional length? 5. I'm STILL angry with United for burning Cleveland TWICE! I won't fly them. Period! Loved Continental though. I'd walk around the globe in the opposite direction to get to Chicago vs fly there on United. 6. With the legacy carriers having their established hubs in the four corners and in-between, are there international opportunities with non-US and/or low-fare international carriers?
  20. KJP, you know this is music to my ears.... "A source close to the HQ property negotiations says that "the Weston lot excites them (SHW) as an opportunity to make a revolutionary sort of campus."
  21. There've been references to relocation to other cities and limited air service, but as a Gamma + city, Cleveland ranks higher in global connectedness than Austin, Baltimore, Charlotte, Phoenix, San Diego, San Jose, St. Louis, Tampa (Gamma cities), Milwaukee, Nashville, Orlando, Sacramento and San Antonio (Gamma - cities). According to GaWC, only New York (Alpha +) Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami (Alpha), Houston, San Francisco, Washington D.C. (Alpha -), Atlanta, Boston, Dallas (Beta +), Denver, Minneapolis, Philadelphia (Beta) and Seattle (Beta -) ranked higher. That's great for a city of its size, is an indicator of the region's significance globally and may have been another contributor in SW decision to stay put. As an fyi, Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis, Memphis, New Orleans and Pittsburgh are only ranked as "Sufficiency Cities," meaning they have sufficient services so as not to be dependent upon world cities, but are not considered a world city in and of themselves, like Cleveland is.
  22. The two sites are within two blocks of one another; across Superior and Huron.
  23. I see no reason why this building does not pre-lease very quickly. After all, there are already rumors of a second tower. Once that happens, there should be sufficient residents within walking, or fast delivery, distance of retail.
