  1. ...Or, SW could be seeking the PS lot and both Weston lots for its "urban campus." If that's the case, the new JC could be built right next to Stokes CH.
  2. Core samples on one of the Weston parcels? That's a good sign.

Cleveland is fortunate enough to have CLE far enough away from downtown so as not to impact building heights. San Diego and Miami are challenged in that regard. In Miami, that's the reason most of the tallest high-rises are ligned up along Biscayne Blvd. and Bayshore. As you move west, towards the MIA runways, major height restrictions kick in.
  4. Add San Francisco, New Orleans and Orlando, they're all behemoths. For what it is, placing the CCC mostly underground was a very wise use of land, without the need to make an architectural statement. I had a lot of great times and fond memories from the Hanna Fountains however, and miss that aspect of the Mall.
  5. Love the design and the new Hilton would have been so much more impactful in this location. I'm not a big fan of the current location and its transformation of the Mall.
  6. Keep in mind (and I think they indicate as much) half of the west side of the block is devoted to transit stops and the Jack windows run the length. At least they propose installing art exhibits into the current blacked out windows.
  7. It is what it is.....
  8. They should also reflect what little sunshine pierces through the clouds; like today and for the next week.
  9. What's also interesting is that the second skywalk is de-emphasized in the schematic. Is it still on the table?
  10. There is plenty of beige, brown and gray to remind us of Cleveland's past. Let's focus on the city's future with lots of bright, reflective glass to brighten up all of those dark, dreary clouds that float in off of Lake Erie.
  11. Execution.
  12. For their needs, they could probably get by with PS and 1/2 of the Weston property, leaving the other 1/2 of Weston for the courthouse.
  13. As I thought. Maybe they'll consider public access if they chose this site for their new development.
  14. What is the current public river access at Breen? That may be an indicator.
  15. Industrial espionage is real. SW has competitors. The company's future is dependent upon the development of new products and their uses. If SW is conducting research into and/or developing new coatings/new organic polymers, or a new breakthrough technology for development of such, I doubt that they would want anyone having easy access to that research. I appreciate the desire to have unlimited river access but it will be up to SW to decide what best meets their corporate interests. All of this being said, a photo of the grounds shows a basketball court and tennis courts. Are those open to the public? https://images.app.goo.gl/S4eqRxGFwXbKMJdv7 And polymer chemists in the lab. https://images.app.goo.gl/bwFXCzvcWvyfJaiS8
  16. It would be nice to have public river access but I can guarantee you that their campus will be very secure; especially for a new HQ with accompanying R&D facilities.
  17. Looking good! That last building though may need a mild acid wash to get the years and years of grime off.
  18. The more glass, the better. As we all know, NEO has more than it's fair share of dark, cloudy, gloomy days. More reflective glass towers could brighten the environment, incorporating more light into what would otherwise be a dark, gloomy cityscape. One Cleveland Center, the Hilton and the Lumen have all been bright additions to the city's skyline.
  19. Having worked for companies involved with Biological and Chemical R&D, I know that corporate security is of paramount importance. I simply cannot visualize an urban campus that includes R&D in that location that also provides unfettered public access.
  20. The Burnham Group Plan (The Malls) did originally include only civic institutions. Over the years it has veered slightly off course with the demolition of some buildings, conversion of others and the additions of the hotels.
  21. This is true. I think only those on UO appreciate the inherent value of those locations. The good news is that those dreadful lots will disappear. The bad news is that it warrants something earthshattering and iconic. I don't see a county courthouse meeting that objective. I'd love for Cuyahoga County to prove me wrong!
  22. It would however, I doubt that Cuyahoga County, OH has the $$$ that Kings County, NY has. Finally: Isn't Metzenbaum CH on PS and Mall A? Wasn't PS developed as the town square? A courthouse/jail on the most coveted real estate property does not make sense to me, sorry!
  23. Understood, but not sure, from a security perspective, how that could be accomplished on a corporate campus.
