  1. You must admit, this building is iconic.
  2. I thought this brutalist monstrosity at one of the Lincoln Tunnel approaches in Manhattan was taken out to make room for Hudson Yards. They did a nice conversion here. Besides the Justice Center, CCC has another one of Cleveland's brutalist structures.
  3. As always, great reporting Ken. Thanks for alleviating our anxieties. Hopefully Morikis won't come banging on your door. Lol.
  4. Don't get twisted! This is old reporting. If the reporter had done their homework, they would have learned what the current status of the project is.
  5. I don't think it is immediately obvious to most people how much redevelopment has occurred in downtown Cleveland. New is nice to have, but I look at so many cities with brand new development, while their older, historic buildings continue to deteriorate. Most of the historical buildings in Cleveland have already been, or are in the process of being rehabilitated. How refreshing it will be to see newly rehabilitated alongside new development. Now we need to work on jobs that provide living wages and the east-side neighborhoods.
  6. I think these buildings will look better than they did back in 1929! I'm with YABO713, I love those black window frames. I miss BR Baker though. I worked at the Randall Park Mall and Chagrin locations in high-school.
  7. No Justice Center on PS! Are they out of their minds?
  8. 600 - 800 feet for the tallest tower. Do the CITIZENS of Cleveland, not the city's attorneys, really want the new Justice Center on PS?
  9. Agreed, but not surprised. Forty stories however is on par with 200 PS, Erieview Tower & One Cleveland. If the design is exceptional however it could still make a dramatic statement.
  10. This issue has been discussed upthread with convenient global connections via ORD, LAX, JFK, and EWR.
  11. If the SW HQ tower is shorter than Key Tower, I suspect that its design will be somewhat dramatic and iconic.
  12. I've been asking this same question for several weeks now. There appears to be no desire, nor intention to integrate the building facade with that of the garage. It looks like a building built on top of an unrelated garage and it really detracts from the building's aesthetics.
  13. Just as long as it's not red. Lol.
  14. 1. He and his wife are major Cleveland philanthropists 2. Again, no offense, but downtown Atlanta would not even remotely be considered the location of a second home
  15. No offense intended, but given the ability to build a home anywhere, I cannot see a millionaire CEO building a mansion in the western suburbs of Cleveland, unless they intend to spend a considerable amount of time in it.
  16. What a difference from 90 years ago.
  17. For their space requirements, couldn't they have a 600 - 800 ft HQ tower on the Jacobs lot, with a few lower-rise buildings, in a campus-like setting, on a portion of Weston? That could still leave enough room for a new Justice Center on the remaing portion of the Weston lots.
  18. It's marketing. The Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Museum of Art have been ranked as two of the world's best (not just the US's best) for many decades. Playhouse Square has reserved its place since its inception and subsequent renovation. The 925 is another classic and unique treasure that I hope can be preserved.
  19. Cleveland has had, and continues to have one of the world's greatest chamber orchestras and art museums. It is also one of only two US cities to have a large urban theater complex. Finally, Cleveland has one of the top Medical facilities in the world. Only one other US city can make these claims, and it's more than 20 times the size. We all know which city that is.
  20. Bakers, as in B.R. Baker? ...and behold, the Euclid Avenue streetcar, reincarnated 80 years later as the Healthline BRT! What a waste!
  21. I certainly hope that the City is not considering placing the new Justice Center on the Jacob's lot. PS and the community deserve a more iconic use of that space.
  22. If you're going to read or throw shade, please make sure your spelling and grammar are correct.
  23. Where's the sense of urgency? These don't seem to be generating much traction. https://www.crainscleveland.com/government/dewine-promotes-state-and-federal-opportunity-zone-incentives-cleveland-visit
  24. Since at least the 70's, Rhodes and Fenn Towers have been kinda sitting in the middle of nowhere; not really a part of downtown but also not really good fits in the areas immediately south and east of downtown. It's good to see them get some company and a fabulous addition at that!
  25. I view this area as being great for young families and/or empty-nesters, having the advantages of being within the city core, but lacking some of its associated disadvantages. It's not the best location for those who want to be right in the thick of it; it's a bit removed. You have to also assume that as development continues, the property values will continue to increase, so while it may not be for everyone, it can fill a niche.
