Cincinnati is, and always has been, too damned hung up over height restrictions. It's so freakin' afraid of blocking part of the skyline view. It's no wonder it took over 70 years to get anything taller than Carew Tower, and even THEN you really can't tell by looking at it from a distance. This city needs to grow up....literally.

Well you guys are certainly loading me up with options. I'll have to check out Yellow Springs the next time I go to Clifton Gorge...can't believe I've never been there.

I will keep Chagrin Falls in mind, and look into Granville too. I've heard of Middlefield and Burton Township, as my grandparents used to live in Chardon when I was growing up. I might have to take a drive back up there sometime. Yellow Springs isn't too far...I could check it out. I've been to John Bryan State Park and Clifton Gorge, which are kinda near there, right? I think the next time I drive up in that direction, I'll go through Yellow Springs. In case you've never been to Eureka Springs in Arkansas, it's unlike any place you've ever been - and hard to describe. It's so unique. It's in the Ozark Mountains, and the town is full of narrow, hilly streets that are lined with old brick buildings that are filled with boutiques, cafes, bars, specialty shops, hotels, and art galleries. A lot of the places have balconies that remind you of something you'd see in the old wild west. They have outdoor cafes built right into the side of the mountain, and the cafes (some with neat fountains) sit next to the main street that runs through town...on which you'll find trollies and horse-drawn carriages. If you do a Google image search for Eureka Springs, you'll get a good idea about what the place looks like. I really don't know if Ohio has anything like that, but it would be really cool to find something close to it. Thanks for the responses!

Indiana has Nashville...Pennsylvania has New Hope....Arkansas has Eureka Springs. I'm wondering if there are any small towns in Ohio that are similar. You know, basically walkable towns that have a relaxing atmosphere where you'll find streets filled with old houses that have been converted into quirky shops and cafes - a place where a person can spend a weekend discovering interesting crafts and unique merchandise, as well as tasty bites for lunch. Anyone know of any similar towns in Ohio? Thanks.

Thank you, and amen. I couldn't agree more! Admittedly, I do NOT like the design. But I don't understand the community residents' complaints about how it doesn't fit into the neighborhood. · Red brick. Check. · Boxxy. Check. · Short. Check. · Boring. Check. I guess we just have to accept that this is forever what Cincinnati is going to be happy building. But for Pete's sake, this place looks like it would fit in better down in OTR.

Thanks, ColDayMan! Yeah, whoda thunk it, huh? Me becoming an urban enthusiast! But I really get it, now. It's something new for me, and I'm actually excited about this change I'm experiencing within myself. I'm going into Google maps and using the street view to look at different urban cores of major cities, and going "Wow - how cool!" LOL.

I've really had a major change of heart regarding the whole urban living thing lately. I don't recall if I've said this before, but I currently live in West Chester, and until recently I was a diehard fan of the suburbs and could not understand the whole mindset of urban enthusiasts. Oh, I've always loved skyscrapers, and that was the main reason I joined this site. But something suddenly changed within me, and I've done a complete 180-degree change in my attitude about how I view cities and urban life, and I now LOVE all this stuff. (And I'm a middle-aged fart! LOL!) I really want to get out of the suburbs and start a new life in a downtown/urban environment, and I've recently been so drawn to what I see in New York City - particularly areas such as Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Midtown Manhattan, etc. When I saw this photo, I couldn't help but think of those areas. They are such active, popular areas in NYC.

It almost brings tears to your eyes to think about how all that great building stock was wiped out. The construction of the interstates really messed up a good thing.

Surely they have a gas station in Princeville, on the north shore of Kauai...? Why dock your kayak on the north shore of Oahu and take the scenic route south to Honolulu...? Wait...kayaks don't take gas. Maybe by the time you reach Hawaii, they figure your oars will be wearing down and the only kayak repair shop is in Honolulu...?

I'm not making this up. Yesterday while I was out with my dad, we were heading south on SR 747 (Princeton Glendale Road), and after passing through the intersection at Hamilton Mason Road, I saw the QCS tiara (as well as the top of Carew Tower) in the distance! I wasn't driving, so I was able to get a good look at it to confirm that's what it was. I never would have thought I'd see it from that far away, but there it was...the white tiara stood out against the gray clouds. That's a distance of just over 19 miles straight-line. From that distance, the top of the tiara was definitely higher than the top of CT.

Hts121 - I likewise thought it was a little odd for someone to record a commercial block and put it on YouTube - but, believe it or not, there are more. Maybe it's a personal hobby for that person, I don't know. But I'm sorta glad he/she did it because it allowed me to show you guys the city I was talking about. And on that note.... MayDay - After looking up photos of the Calgary skyline, you are indeed correct! Thank you SO much for finding out for me. I really think it looks like a neat city.

The only YouTube video I can find of the commercial is from within a block of commercials on the Hallmark Channel that someone recorded using a video camera pointed at their TV. I wish this was clearer, but maybe you guys will see enough of the skyline to recognize it. The Claritin commercial starts at exactly 2:51 into the video. Not sure if this is in the correct forum, and sure hope it's not a stupid question...but does anyone know what city's skyline is shown in the Claritin-D commercial? It shows some great looking buildings and I'd be interested in knowing where they are. Thanks.
