J. Crew Factory is coming soon to Legacy Village in the former Charming Charlie space. Solid addition for that side of Legacy. Nearest J. Crew Factory locations are the outlets in Grove City and Columbus/Sunbury.

Taking Evereve’s former space at Beachwood Place in July will be SoftMoc, a Canadian shoe retailer with only three US locations (Mall of America, Kenwood Towne Center in Cinci, and Jordan Creek in Iowa). Did some shopping today at Beachwood and it was crowded throughout. There was a VIP party at Dillard’s with a DJ. Every entrance to every store was open like normal. Nice to see things getting back to normal.

Slyman's will be taking over the Oak & Embers space. Also, Free People Movement and Brilliant Earth are great adds. Both will be the first of their kind in Ohio.

Eton Chagrin Boulevard update: Barely two weeks after Lucky Brand Jeans closed, a new tenant is already coming soon: national women's clothing store EVEREVE. The current east side location is at Beachwood Place next to H&M, so I'm guessing it will be moving from there to Eton. A new unnamed steak house is advertised as "coming soon" to the former Fleming's space next to Lululemon. Eton's 80,000+ sq ft office tower is back to 100% occupancy following Launch Workplaces' opening late last year. The former 2nd floor gym and management office had to move to unused spaces in the mall to make room. Restore Hyper Wellness has been doing well in the ~5 year vacant space formerly occupied by Penzey's Spices (the space briefly served as a temporary space for Lululemon while its store was being renovated just before COVID). Mabel's BBQ construction is coming along nicely at the former B-Spot space. Signage is being installed. Finally, site prep work is well-underway for the next phase of Eton West End, starting with Erie Bank.

According to the Pinecrest website, Kitchen Social is coming in 2022 where Next Door used to be. There is one location in Columbus on Polaris and another going in at Bridge Park in Dublin. Looks like a quality add: https://ourkitchensocial.com/

Shaker Heights: Van Aken District Transit Oriented Development
It might be. The wording is a little confusing where it says "vacant property."

Shaker Heights: Van Aken District Transit Oriented Development
Northstar Cafe coming to Van Aken in 2022. First location outside of Columbus (same ownership group as Brassica). Big win for Van Aken. Construction has apparently started, and judging by the wording in the article, it will be located in the vacant lot next to Shaker Rocks: https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2021/07/21/popular-columbus-based-restaurant-northstar-cafe-coming-to-van-aken-district

Brio is re-opening at Legacy Village on Thursday April 8. Also, across the road, Bar Italia is opening at La Place on April 1 (former Lindey's Lake House).

Madewell is opening early next year in the vacant space between Sephora and Shake Shack. Construction is well underway. I guess that means the current location at Beachwood Place will be closing.

The new H&M/H&M Home is now open at Beachwood Place. Zumiez and JD Sports should also be open by November.

Orange Village: Pinecrest
Not quite confirmed yet but a user upthread posted about it. Wouldn’t be a huge shocker after seeing a few other retailers move from Beachwood to Orange.

Sweeties/Big Fun, Gracylane, and Vernacular have permanently closed. I also assume Inca Bar Cafe is closed for good as the space has been cleared out, but I haven’t seen an official announcement from the owner yet. Casper appears to be opening soon between Laura of Pembroke and 3 Palms. Construction on The Last Page is also progressing next to RED. Mattlin-Hyde Piano has also moved from Eton Chagrin Boulevard to set up shop in the former City Works space (judging by the temporary signage, I’m guessing on a month-to-month lease for now). The space between Williams-Sonoma and Firebirds where Athleta might be heading is also now blocked off and is likely being worked on.

Shaker Heights: Van Aken District Transit Oriented Development
Four new tenants in the Market Hall. Was there for lunch today, and by my count, only two stalls remain vacant. Old Brooklyn Cheese is the only tenant in this article left to open: https://www.clevelandjewishnews.com/news/local_news/van-aken-district-market-hall-welcomes-four-restaurants/article_53e8adbe-9f62-11ea-be45-e3648a2a33ee.html I also found some more info on the new co-working space The Beauty Shoppe. This will take up 7,680 sq. feet: https://www.shakeronline.com/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Item/1629?fileID=4214

Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
Not to get too far off track, but here was the original proposal from Simon to rehab the "lake" side of Aurora Farms reported on back in December 2018. I wonder if this is still on the table at this point: https://www.record-courier.com/news/20181210/reconstruction-renovations-planned-at-aurora-farms

Columbus-based coworking firm COhatch is building out a 10,000 sq ft space at Legacy Village by the end of 2020 in the former Charming Charlie space. 10 locations planned in northeast Ohio, along with others in Easton Town Center and Dublin. But my favorite quote is, "Many of the sites targeted for the other nine Cleveland-area locations will be in 'walkable urban areas requiring revitalization and building restoration that honors the history and architecture of each space,' the company said." https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/columbus-area-firm-cohatch-hatches-plan-10-coworking-spaces-cleveland-area

This will be perfect for that last vacant corner space. This and Oak & Embers will bring some added foot traffic to this side of the development.

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Update on Cleveland Public Power's conversion to LED streetlights across the city: As of 1/22, the project is 33.02% complete. 20,070 streetlights have already been converted to LED. Overall, it seems like CPP is moving from south to north with their neighborhood installations. Here is the web page to view the statistics and a map of the exact locations of each lamp: https://portal.cdmsmithgis.com/portal/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=c2594ce94b1646fa887845679bb1361d

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/post-office-plaza-lands-tech-property-services-companies Two companies moving to Post Office Plaza: OnShift moving all 220 employees from 4 floors in the Keith Building to the second floor of POP (exact square feet not mentioned, but guessing between 50-60,000 sq ft, plus right of first refusal to additional 25,000 sq ft if needed in the future). Exacta Land Surveyors moving 60 employees from the Knights of Columbus Building to 20,000 square feet on the first floor of POP. These moves push POP's occupancy to over 80%. Gotta give K&D credit for bulking up the tenant roster here relatively quickly.

Pottery Barn Kids at La Place just closed. I wonder if it eventually relocates to Pinecrest to be with the rest of the Williams-Sonoma brands.

Cleveland: Retail News
Lots of activity at Beachwood mall today. Here's what I saw: H&M is taking a massive amount of space. On the first floor, they're taking over Pottery Barn and the vacancy to the left of Coach. On the second floor, they're taking the small vacancy to the right of Lenscrafters, the former Abercrombie space, and the former Buckle location. Carter's is moving into the long-vacant space between Coach and Microsoft. With the above tenants, the entire Nordstrom wing will be occupied. JD Sports is taking all of Gap. Journeyz Kidz is taking over Baby Gap. Baja Bistro is filling the last spot in the food court. Unless it's a yet-to-be-announced store, it looks like Zumiez is going in between Vans and Ashcroft & Oak, taking the old Sperry space and the other neighboring vacancy (interesting placement next to a competitor in Vans). The only question I have is regarding H&M. On the construction wall, there was no "H&M Home" branding. It only said "Mens, Womens, and Kids." Either the clothing part of H&M is relocating to the new space and they will renovate the current location into H&M Home, the new space is H&M Home and the current clothing location will stay put, or the new space will be both combined (one concept on each floor). The only real notable vacancies left at Beachwood (not counting the restaurant spaces) are the old Hollister location, the old Gap Kids, and the three continuous spaces between Zales and Visionworks.
