  1. Its interesting that they didnt choose a city with direct London flights. Maybe not as important as one is led to beleive
  2. My god, YES. I know its other peoples money but for once I would like to see a grand project be built - outside the box- visionary - future looking. Risky for sure but the pay-off could be incalcuable
  3. And as you say, there are numerous high profile locations about to come on-line. With that in mind retailers have choice and can be choosy about location and leases/terms/rates.
  4. Downtown...and this is jusy my limited observation
  5. And hopefully a hotel of some size. Expand the CC, move IX Center functions downtown and build a 400-500 room hotel in conjunction with Nucleus
  6. Parking garages are best built underground. In my travels to Dallas ive noticed that alot of their garages are underground and out of sight
  7. Yes they could-easily. But after the merger they now had international gateways at ORD, EWR and IAD -and all of those with a better economy of scale. United had no economic incentive to change that. Remember in 2007 when Continental planned to grow CLE by 30% only to have the crushing weight of 2008 snuff that out
  8. You are 100% correct. The IX events should be downtown
  9. But remember, its not just demand from CLE. Airline plannners also look at the demand on the otherside too. What is the demand FROM Frankfurt, London, etc to CLE?
  10. Frankfurt is the best bet. Its a Star Alliance hub and CLE is still full of Star frequent fliers courtesy of United. In fact Continental originally wanted the first trans atlantic route from CLE to be to Frankfurt but the White Administration insisted on London which of course benefits One World Alliance. But yea, pony up the cash and you can have it all till the money runs out or you actually find that the demand is actually there
  11. True that, but remember its the yields that matter. A full plane doesnt mean you are making money.
  12. They see and get subsidies
  13. and his reason is always air service or lack of it

  15. Yes, i do.
  16. Didnt Nieman just restructure? And I dont think BG is going anywhere. Its a classic
  17. Didnt Gucci and/or Fendi do a store within a store concept with Saks at one time?
  18. I see where Saks is looking to buy Barneys and close some of Barneys locations. But also open Barneys shops inside of Saks stores. Wonder if Beachwood would get such a shop at Saks?
  19. Oh, i just sawcwhy company officuals were in Atlanta. Their Southeast Division is located there
  20. Yes. ..i was just in Austin for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Cant figure out what all of the fuss is about
  21. Lol...the article says nothing. It is merely conjecture on the part of people who have no real connection. Company officials may well have been in Atlanta earlier but the article says nothing about who or why. Dont forget that there were a number of cities under consuderation for Amazon HQ2
  22. I wish i were in CLE to see it. Your blog is my connection to the area
  23. The looking at other states was one of the most obvious smokescreens out there. I think KJP effectively threw cold water on that weeks ago
  24. Smaller metros have gotten service due to generous incentives and in the case of cities like Raleigh, Nashville and Austin actual demand with decent yields- from both sides of the Pond. Austin will add Amsterdam in spring 2020. Frequently we cite demand from X city to Europe but fail to take the demand from Europe to X City into account. Plus there is the Premium factor. Fares will be higher and if you are flying to Dusseldorf which will require a connection in any event, you'll probably choose the lower fare connecting in NY.
  25. Im old enough to remember hearing all of this 40 years ago. What's changed?
