Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
DTCL11 replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOk. They need to call it the ATL developer at Lane and High and apologize and bring them back to the table if they are going to consider this with little pushback. But that is also dependent on who is in attendance. They'll push back when people are in their ear less. Less homeowners there than further north like Pavey

DTCL11 replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionInstitutional was my feedback with the new renderings. Tim Sublett should lett himself off the commission if he's still fighting the size of it. FFS.

A massive sub-terranian bunker community called Anti-Gravity? A giant cantilevered building called Defying Gravity? A tiny home community called microgravity?

Columbus: Zoning Discussion
I know time flies but that project was proposed 9 years ago. By waiting a bit, you mean a decade. For a variance from 35 ft to 58ft. Nothing other than this recent Weber project indicates CAC would have eventually yielded, especially because it was the people of Central Clintonville that wielded the most power in that discussion. And if THEY didn't want it, they were going to get their way. A project like Weber has less pushback because it's a different group of residents who don't show up in the hundreds against it. Not every developer can sit on property like that waiting for the city to catch up.

DTCL11 replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIn my mind, I would push them for a Pavey style development behind those houses. There's so much land there it's a missed opportunity and a good commission focused on housing and growth might say, 'fine, you can have your tower if you also work to fill that gap'. While the tower should he approved anyway, it's approval could he used to push for something better. That and I'll always push for integration of exiting buildings. The commission shouldn't allow the full demolition of one of the dwindling numbers of historic structures.

Wow. They're actually moving a power pole for a sidewalk? I thought all sidewalks were supposed to be impeded by power poles and utility boxes so we don't infringe on personal property.

To be fair, it's more than a lock shop. Or at least used to be. The lock shop was originally just the east half of the block. Then they expanded in to security in the 80s and 90s I believe. They did commercial and residential full security system installation and monitoring, hence the additional space needed for office and what required decent warehouse space. And when you've owned the land for 50 years, it's paid off, and you've been in business over 100, your concern isn't necessarily whether you own too much land.

The sidewalk isn't changing. It just allows much more room along the sidewalk for pedestrians instead of the giant 'temporary' concrete barriers that were there for many years.- Columbus: Scioto Mile Riverfront Park News
Over/Under on the first expensive repair? 2 years?- Columbus: Short North Developments and News
DTCL11 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSpeaking of for lease, I also noticed the CM space that had El Segundo is listed for lease so I wonder if he's giving up the location. Seems like they wouldn't advertise it for lease if CM wanted to try another concept there.- Columbus: Short North Developments and News
DTCL11 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt's had a couple proposals over the years but has largely sat empty for awhile sadly. I honestly dont know what the current plan is. It's just a shame that we lost the art supply and art galleries there just sit empty for so long.- Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
I also just realized the top of the garage was supposed to be a green roof. Which is a big let down and as I've said for many years, should be required by the city anyway.- Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
I still wish Kaufman would have scaled up the original tower design. The big square tan box is *fine* but it stands out in the wrong way. The original design would have been a better anchor seen from east and west. It would have fit the overall look and feel of Gravity better too.- Columbus: Short North Developments and News

In all the years this garage has stood here, I've never noticed the clock-face. It definitely doesn't work anymore.- Columbus: Downtown: Discovery District / Warehouse District / CSCC / CCAD Developments and News
DTCL11 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI mean... we could be New Jersey... or Pennsylvania... at least Ohio highlighted toll booths and not ramps 🤣- Columbus: Downtown: Discovery District / Warehouse District / CSCC / CCAD Developments and News
DTCL11 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAs an aside, A fun and sad bit of transportation Americana is the days of highway postcards. The 70/77 interchange was once called the world's largest. Which seems incredible compared to what cities have now. Which is incredibly more exciting than those like this. Of course none of it measures up to the peak of highway pennants- Columbus: Short North Developments and News
DTCL11 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI read it and ignored it and then they invaded my space by highlighting it on IG lol- Columbus: Short North Developments and News
DTCL11 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOh Dispatch... Short North did a Study but they didn't address parking! Let's dive deeper in to this to further the myth! And then calling parking rates 'high' in the Short North as objective facts... Followed by showing how low they are Come back when you spent $40 on parking for an evening out and call them high. Get rocked for calling $1-3.25 an hour 'expensive'.- Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
DTCL11 replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionMy biggest frustration with that campus, other than it's name that everyone hates, is they added those solar panels to that building only. Come on. Do better. Ah yes, let's only put the solar panels on the energy building instead of the entire innovation campus. - Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
