  1. Great point. Actually, if it’s anything thats automotive electric (even other than Rivian), I would bet that bodes well for financing. It seems like investors are really willing to give lots of money to electric automakers these days.
  2. Hopefully the financing is in the cross your “t”s phase and not the cross your fingers phase.
  3. Agreed, but hopefully Bernie Moreno and Dan Gilbert aren't the only deep pockets.?
  4. The new Cle Hts. location is really cool. I far prefer it to the kinda ubiquitous modernist vibe the old location had. The diner vibe works great, and the only thing that is missing is some pancakes, eggs, and bacon.
  5. I assume this means the magical mystery project is distinct from the assortment of tech firm outposts (or hopefully some hq2s) that are coming in CityBlock. If so, that is very exciting.
  6. Not sure if this is the right spot to post, but apparently Salesforce will be participating in the Blockland conference this year. Does anyone know if they participated in any previous year?
  7. Who says we can’t do it better this time?
  8. You would end up with some really claustrophobic feeling courtrooms. Those stories are usually built closer to 20 feet.
  9. It’s a bonkers statement about the abysmal condition of the current facilities that a relatively inexpensive option could be a new 1100’ tower.
  10. This whole thread sometimes feels like: transformational economic impact? Big shiny building?
  11. This is very interesting to me. @KJP, have your sources ever indicated whether SHW intends to buy/use every superblock lot as opposed to just some?
  12. Does this mean an article? ? In any event, if you're celebrating, we all ought to be!
  13. Chicago PD HQ isn't downtown.
  14. I don't know, but I could see a variety of options. The proximity to the courts tower would make it an attractive office location for legal and legal-support. It would also be a nice residential location, particularly for people who work at the court regularly. I think a small hotel component wouldn't rock the market too much. There is a need for hotel rooms for out-of-town folks appearing at the court, which is primarily being met right now by the Hilton. What I don't know is how feasible any of those possibilities (or anything else for that matter) are. Obviously it's a building with a pretty big footprint and stories that are really tall.
  15. Well since we now know where the police HQ will be, here's a feasibility question. What if only the police HQ segment of the Justice Complex was demoed and a new courts tower was built in its place? The old courts tower would suddenly become a more attractive piece of real estate because it's right next to (if not still attached to) the new courts tower, making it more likely a developer might be able to do a cost-effective rehab on it. From an engineering standpoint is that realistic?
  16. Great news @KJP! Hopefully the exterior of the building doesn’t change too much. I’ve always though it was a beautiful example of the style.
  17. Not by revenue, but obviously there are other ways to judge size. Pilot is private, so it’s a weird comparison to Progressive. Nevermind, I just realized that's not the question you're asking.
  18. @KJP‘s hints on these looming megaprojects have everyone on this forum like “Alexa, fast forward to Friday 2024.”
  19. Largest undertaking in Google history?? ?
  20. How great! That’s exactly the sort of amenity the area needs more of. You can’t build a really diverse and vibrant neighborhood out of 1 bd apartments and fast-casual joints.
  21. "Downtown headquarters campus" is almost an oxymoron. The vast majority of "headquarters campuses" are way out in the 'burbs, and the vast majority of "downtown headquarters" either aren't really campuses or really aren't campuses. So it's sorta hard to picture what SHW is planning (and obviously most all we're doing is guessing and playing SimCity).
  22. Have you seen Coventry recently? Or Lee Rd in between Cedar and BottleHouse? I’m not saying the health of CLE Hts retail is awful; it’s not. It’s fine. It’s not great though.
  23. I'd love to see something along the lines of this, although obviously it would be done at a smaller scale. I've got a sinking feeling the HQ may look more like a 6-acre, 6-story brick, but a guy can dream! ?
  24. Believe it or not, there was some reporting from Ideastream this morning that the PS/Weston-Citymark location had been selected. Otherwise, crickets.
