Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
NW24HX replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI wish they would actually build a cafe structure on that corner, not just a fenced-in seating area. We desperately need more active uses along the riverfront Even just a small pavilion that fits only on that patio could add quite a lot to the immediate area Hopfully the "smrt" columbus experience center can be repurposed as retail space soon...

Columbus: Polaris Developments and News
NW24HX replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe real opportunity (to the extent that one exists) to make Polaris walkable will be in potentially developing the Mall's many parking lots

There's still the elusive 5 story condo building proposed in 2012, and mentioned again in this 2014 post (bottom green square) at the NE corner of 6th & Gay to be developed

Columbus: Harrison West: Thurber Village Developments and News
Although I would love a Trader Joe's my best guess would be Aldi as well, they are definitely in expansion mode locally In addition to the Groveport and New Albany locations, they're also building a store on High north of Graceland, and recently opened in the former Barnes & Noble in UA

2022 U.S. Senate Race
Yikes ... His tone and childishness in replying to people who are correctly pointing out he's wrong are something else. Totally unqualified to run for anything IMO

Look up pictures of Indianapolis' new BRT line if you aren't familiar with it - that's likely the same style and type of service any line on Broad St will be. The buses are larger, articulated, and have doors to board on both sides

No one remembers this now but Coleman's original goal in 2002 wasn't 10,000 residents but 10,000 residential units downtown by the city's bicentennial in 2012 It's 2022, and we still haven't hit that number (to my knowledge)

Columbus: Ohio Expo Center Developments and News
Interestingly enough the existing 1970s-era main horse barn / building just south of 17th Ave bordering the railroad tracks has a very sizable parking lot on its roof - roughly 750 spaces, and is the only structure on the fairgrounds with this feature

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
NW24HX replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis proposal is essentially identical to their first proposal for the site, which the commission was very set against. There is no way they will vote in favor of this. From the letter at the beginning of their application, it seems the developer is anticipating a denial and gearing up for a lawsuit based on the fact that this project "meets the zoning code" For all of you guys bashing the commission, they have been the ones pushing for preservation of the existing building in favor of more height this entire time. If there was no commission at all, or they had less power - the hideous proposal in front of us now would already be under construction

Columbus: Easton Developments and News
It sounds like we're getting one of these - they announced the new concept at the end of January with a first location opening in LA this year, https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=23676409011

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
I think (hope?) DeWine is perhaps waiting out the Republican primary to take a stance, to avoid politicizing the issue and allowing a Kasich-style attack on trains to gain traction with Republicans Once he is safely the nominee, making him by far a favorite for reelection, I'm hopeful he will support the expansion

Columbus Building / Skyscraper History
I've heard that the AEP building is largely blank on the NW side so that an expansion could occur, sharing the same core/circulation elements? If you look at the satellite, the odd shape seems to roughly support this, seeing how a missing wedge could be added atop the existing base to 'complete' a more square shaped tower...

Columbus also had a Gucci store downtown in the 90s at City Center Mall. Regardless, a nice add for Easton

NW24HX replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAnyone notice the building shown next door on the left side in the first rending? Wonder if that is an actual proposal we might be hearing about...
