  1. I agree competely! But I'm not convinced the University feels the same
  2. It'd be nice to see more projects announced from NRI in the AD After these apartments, there's really nothing else they have (publicly) on the drawing board
  3. This is another Rogue Fitness development, but the site has an interesting history. See this 2022 release from the Ohio EPA https://epa.ohio.gov/about/media-center/news/ohio-epa-issues-environmental-covenant-to-former-asarco-property It's also been the source of long-running zinc and cadmium contamination in the surrounding area according to this 2014 Dispatch article https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/environment/2014/12/15/toxic-ditch-cleanup-long-stalled/23839310007/
  4. The building at least initially was probably a lively hub of activity, with a bowling alley, theaters, multiple restaurants, etc - way before the Lennox was even contemplated But the Drake's days have long been numbered, as the University really let it go to seed since at least the late 90s. It's only a matter of time before the Towers meet the same fate

Agree, I think they will mostly leave it alone Even Huffman who typically overstates what he's able to accomplish only really nitpicked it, saying they intended to look at altering the tax rate etc
  6. Columbus elections are like watching Perry Mason vs Ham Burger, or the Harlem Globetrotters vs the Washington Generals The perceived competent (if undazzling) incumbent will win handily facing the same old stooges who sign up to lose again year after year (if they bother to show up at all) All while the establishment Dems keep the reelect, resign, reappoint cycle running on repeat

Luis Gil continues to contribute more trash to our roadways for less votes than any other candidate Can't wait to see what he runs for next
  8. It was really only a matter of time That Cincinnati managed to keep at least one R council member decades longer than either of the other 2 C's is what's surprising to me
  9. ^From what I've heard that one is unfortunately on pause (for now) but they are still intending to move forward at some point
  10. I'm curious what ridership numbers look like for COTA routes and the GREAT shuttles in the rickenbacker area Are there many people who actually take a bus to work at the warehouses? The scale and sprawl of development in the area, and its distance from the city would seem not conducive to efficient transit service I hope this project is a success but COTA has a history of building 'transit centers' of dubious utility that end up seeing little actual use

Wow really neat shot. A lot of big projects were just completed or about to happen Obviously the parking craters are atrocious but there had to have been a real excitement at the time about the momentum and development happening downtown
  12. Loving the new wave of affordable housing we're seeing across the city, but please can we get incentives (or whatever it would take) to encourage large projects along major transit corridors to include some ground floor commercial space
  13. I'm an unashamed lifelong Spaghetti Warehouse megafan and I'm still very skeptical about this new location... Afraid they're going to ditch all the antiques and everything unique and special about SW for a generic modern update Also, while it could be described as decrepit, nothing about HighPoint gives the charm and history of the Broad St building. IMO they really should have looked in the *ahem* Warehouse District, or even the Arena District
  14. Is the Vine Street side of the garage going to be fully screened now? Conveniently, that's the view they show us the least yet the one I'm most concerned about based on what we've seen previously Edit to add: previous rendering
  15. Awesome to get San Diego back, even at just 1x weekly. Hopefully they're successful and frequency expands
  16. Even if the city is 100% committed to adding the turn lanes, why not take all the necessary space out of the empty lots across the street? We're losing entire buildings for a few extra feet of right-of-way which could still be acquired without demolishing anything. Dumb dumb dumb
  17. That's what I was thinking. Really though, anything other than Cameron Mitchell is all I want to see there
  18. With how often the current lot is full I'm surprised Krogers didn't include parking on the roof as part of the rebuild
  19. It's really baffling, especially compared to the ambition of their other recent proposals and given the fact that I believe there is no tenant signed as of yet It doesn't even necessarily look better to me, just different
  20. Genuinely asking, what has the Brewery District Commission been s**tty about? I can't think of anything specific off the top of my head, mainly because there really haven't been that many projects proposed within their boundary. As much as I wish it were different, the area is not exactly a hotbed of development compared to Downtown, the Short North, or Campus Schiff's project died mainly because of Schiff, and the fact that it never penciled out to begin with let alone once interest rates started rising The Livingston Avenue hotel project died because of the intransigence of the German Village Commission, which otherwise does an excellent job with the historic core of that neighborhood IMO. If the city redrew the boundaries by one block and added that parcel to the Brewery District instead I honestly have no doubt it would have been approved
  21. That grey fake wood flooring is the trend that just won't die The greatest con the building industry has pulled lately is convincing people of all stripes that cheap hideous vinyl floors somehow equal 'luxury' ✨
  22. The detailing and the rest of the windows will likely remain similar to before, they just don't want to waste any more time until the commission approves a rough massing I keep wishing there was a retail space on the corner... that's a missed opportunity for this location IMHO

From this 1950s aerial, it looks like that stub just connected back to the main access road forming a U-shape drive from High St rather than a dead end This makes sense looking at the second angle posted by @Pablo where a rough edge is visible following the demolition of the connection between the two
  24. Is this listing only for the building itself or the entire property? The adjacent surface lot has the same owner and is one of the last, large development sites on High St
  25. Sounds like a good development. Demolition of the existing building shouldn't be approved though until they are ready to put shovels in the ground
