  1. This thread does not make me feel bad about cleveland. I love clevelands skyline, yeah it could use a couple more towers, well never mind, alot more. But we have what we have and we work with what weve got. So on that note, I am a lillte jealouse of NYC and thier crazy skyscraper construction, but its NYC what else would you expext from the U.S. super city. If we cant build em at least they can. and we can watch and one day vist and look at all their pretty skyscrapers and then go home to our cities with oud smaller skylines.
  2. lol thats funny, I know the cuyahoga is not the greatest, but hey it is a river, that needs some TLC. we need to open up our wter ways in this city so that the public can enjoy them. Its all we have and is a valuable asset to Cleveland despit not being as huge as some of our Nations more popular rivers.
  3. Man I would love to have a 30 story tower goingtup in cleveland right now, let alone anything taller. Well I think we all would love it, well most of us at least. the tower looks nice, but it is alittle thin, but I guess it will be alright, the architects know what they are doing. :-D
  4. The opening is supposed to provide a open air atruim at the top for the hotel. The rest of the structure is the mechanical floors at the top around the opening and maybe a prnt house. The hole is a glass florr that is above a round cylinder that goes all the way to the bottom of the tower. by leavinga round cylinder open all the way through the tower it was supposed to take some of the stress off of the tower so that it would stand, that was one of the other team members idaes, so we included it. But the desing went through amny phases. I did not like the whole hole thing, but I included it in the final design any way, but the hole could be altered to just go dwon a few levels at the top for the observation floors and hotel lobby. the whole thing was a great experience for me. I personnaly love how the thing came out and have a huge poster of it ahnging in my room, so i can look at it all the time. Yeah for me,lol. thanks for the comments every one I appreciate it alot.
  5. Cleveland has a lake and a river. Yeah for Cleveland. well we have a lake that we have little access to and a river that is just as limimted in access. oh well, we will change that in tyhe coming years, but we have the best of both worlds a river and a lake for recreation.
  6. the elavators run up the sides of the building from the two points, leaving the center of the building open. the mechanical functions are split on the two sides.
  7. I left out the part that would connect to the street level due to a short time frame. the tower was the main part of my presentation. the design team that helped me work on this did come up with a more elobate base that conected to people at the street level. we cmae up with a pyramid that would branch off at the bottom creating a glass canopy at the bottom. there was to be a shooping plaza under this canopy with connection to a the rail sytstem. due to a shoert time frame, we did not include that in our presentation, although i dod have a drawing of the concept, I will try to post some more stuff on this tower later. and by the way i did not chose the colors, one of the other team members did. i would have prefered green glass with side contrasting stainless steel mulions running up some parts of the tower to give it a contrasting look, but again, time was a issue.
  8. well how about if this was mixed use, with a hotel occupying most of the space with about half of it being office. Cleveland needs the hotel space and it would not suck up all of the workers in downtown. it would also give people the ability to stay in a world class hotel in a landmark tower. I like tall buildings, and maybe it is a Little to tall, so sue me, I like it. I would love to see it at about 1000-1100 feet and in downtown Cleveland, but its only a dream, and it is sitting nice in my portfolio, so I do have a nice skyscraper to show of to my Friends and future employers, but i also have some other less radical skyscrapers that may fit better in the Cleveland skyline, this one is just the one that I finished first. I will have some better ones and maybe in a few years you will see one of my skyscrapers rising right in downtown Cleveland. only time will tell. Thanks to every one for their comments, they are greatly appreciated.
  9. Downtown cleveland needs a 1000 room hotel or larger. If we want to attract people we need more hotel space and possibly a new convention center. well Cleveland has alot of things that make this city world class, but it also needs more things so that it an take a step up.
  10. I have other skyscraper designs, that are more traditional but equally impressive. when i get a scanner I will show them to you, all were designed to be built in cleveland and they are all very pretty, if i must say so myself. i think you will like them. I just need to take some economic development classes at Cleveland State University, so that i can figure out how to finance these babies and get them off the ground and beyond the drawing board. I want to fill the space of the northwest quadrant of public square and I want to do it in my life time. So lets make it happen people. :-P
  11. At first we wanted to put a glass atrium at the bottom with a winter garden and shops restaurants. these are all good Idea, but I would not want to scale it down. if this were to be built in Cleveland , it would be the new tallest in the city and state, and the tallest building outside New York and chicago. so somebody find me a developer, lol. :-D
  12. what is the RFP? I desinged this tower for Cleveland, but the evolo competition required that you submit your proposal for a large city. I would love to see this baby rise in Cleveland. I only need about 300 million dollars, lol, or a developer who is willing to build it, lol again. The fact of the matter is we dont have the need for something this big yet, although our office market is recovering slowly. I would love to build on of my towerws to fill in the northwest quadrant of public square, if only I could find some one who waants to build a tower there who i could work with. Oh well, a man can dream cant he. :-D
  13. I did not realize that I rubed people the wrong way on my harsh ctrituqe of the 61 story office tower for loiusville. I know how first impressions mean alot, so I will give you a chance to judge my own work. I will put myself out there to be judged so that we can be even. Give me your worst or best, doenst matter to me. I appoligize to any on that I offended, but i just didnt like the building, guess i did go a little far, but hey, it happens, lol. well here it is. folow this link http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e39/kevmr25/0270_1.jpg
  14. I realy like the Millionaires Row idea for Euclid Avenue. As a clevelander I am not to attached to the name Euclid Avenue. Cleveland needs something fresh to revamp its image. I would love to see the cities along the laakes refer to thierselves as the water belt, to rid thier selves of the rust belt image. The city of Cleveland is not marketed to its full potential, and maybe its because of our low self esteem, who knows? I love Cleveland, but not every one shares the same love. We need to market ourselves better. cleveland is a World class city and we should let the world know that. :-D
  15. I cant wait to see this project take off, I have beeen by the site and have seen little progress, but when this baby is complete hopefully the night life in downtwont will pick up.

yes I did sign up to bash this ugly building, so what. you cant do anything about it. My freedom of speech is protected by the constitution. Im new here so when I see some thing else that i want to talk about I will, but I just had to roast this ugly building and I did it 4 times and I loved it every time and I am going to continue to express my opinion on this project and any other one that I dont like. And IF YOU DONT LIKE THAT, TO BAD, BECUASE IM KEVIN RAY AND THATS ALL I WILL EVER BE.

this building adds nothing to the character of the Louisville Skyline. This tower does not fit into the skyline at all, even if one does like it, i cant change the opinions of those who love it, but i just does not look like it fits into the characteristic of this city. What, if any historic values does it borrow from. Should we just put such a futuristic building in a city, that in my view is a nice southern city, with a historic architectural character. this tower would fit more to me in Europe or in New York or Chicago or maybe even Denver or Houston, but it does nothing to add to this skyline, it instead takes from it, robbing it of a characteristic that I have come accustomed to. I can understand how some one can be glad that a sixty story office tower could be built, i would to, if it was Cleveland, but I would beg, ask and plead for a redesign if they proposed this in Cleveland. Must i remind people of the World Trade center competition. Most of those towers had this type of futuristic look, and all of them were turned down with much criticism. The general public did not like them, and the feeling is that the same fate awaits this tower. There are many towers going up today that add to their skyline. Look at the Comcast center in Philadelphia, The Shanghai World finance Center, The empire world towers in Miami, these towers among many have been design with rave reviews by most and have been well recepted by the public. It has been obvious in this forum to me that this tower will become nothing more than a drawing on a wall some where. Any architecture firm can do better than this and this great city deserves a much better addition to their great skyline in my opinion.

"You do realize there are two bypasses around Louisville, so you dont have to travel through downtown." so now I have to make my trip l;onger because they want to build this piece of crap. Thats it im flying from now on, so i wont even have to pass through it at all. There goes thunder over loiusville for me. now they have to have a beautiful fireworks show ruined with this ugly skyscraper in the background. :?

this tower is simply a crime against humanity and architecture. I can do much better and if the architects of this tower read this I challenge them to let me do better. This towers model belongs no where but in the trash. No one in there right mind would let any one build this piece of crap in thier city, and if they proposed it for Cleveland ohio i would be the first in line to shot it down. Proposlas like this never get built, skyscrapers this ugly have been proposed before and they have never been built, congradualations for putting Loiusville on the map, now redesign this thing or dont buld it, its ugly as hell, period. I would not want it in my city, and I dont want it in yours, i have to pass this city when i travel down south, I dont want to see that piece of crap when I pass through the city. ITS UGLY, ITS UGLY ITS UGLY, PERIOD.
