  1. Well, this sucks. Building a gas station in 2021 doesn't make any sense, especially in an area that should be moving toward walkability. There are already two gas stations in the immediate area.
  2. Wait what? There is already a ton of parking there, and there's also an empty grass field. No need to tear it down, unless they just feel like it.
  3. Had no idea you could enforce parking minimums against existing historic buildings. How very 1960s.
  4. Been looking forward to this bridge for like 5 years now, and I'm so excited! It's going to make my bike commute (to a large insurance company) so much nicer.
  5. This made my week! I was worried they would put this off until later.
  6. I'm not convinced that an acreage standard is sustainable. Do we really all need to waste 2 acres (or whatever the rule is) of farmland to build a house? Then you just have to mow it all of the time. If everyone keeps building on 2 acre lots in the countryside, it's not the countryside anymore, it's just a mess. To me, a much better solution for both current and future residents is to preserve that farmland, and build some reasonable density neighborhoods (grid streets, alleys instead of driveways, small apartment buildings allowed) that are actually connected to town. Unfortunately it's not that easy, but I don't see how acreage rules produce a desirable result.
  7. The taxpayers are paying $100M for a redundant I-71 interchange boondoggle so that people can build more sprawling trash developments on green fields.
  8. Rivers are a public right of way, so you can kayak through even if the land on both sides is privately owned.
  9. The same people fighting it now are going to be sitting on that patio in 4 years and talking about how nice it is.
  10. I'm glad the zoning committee pushed back on this. There is plenty of room to replace the Bullwinkle's single story and add density without demolishing the century old BiBiBop building, which is very nice and perfectly compliments the two buildings to the south of it.
  11. A new proposal calls for a six-story, 68-unit apartment building at 1778 N. High St. in the University District. https://www.columbusunderground.com/new-building-proposed-for-high-street-across-from-osu-bw1
  12. The design looks really good, but there is no reason for a swooping curb cut on 4th when you control the entire block. Cars can figure out how to drive around back. People are actually smarter than we give them credit for sometimes.
  13. It's a chicken or egg thing. If everything is built for every person to be able to use a car, then it will always be difficult to get around without one.
  14. The new building is pretty awful. I can accept the lazy architecture as long as the street level is done right, but the parking garage along Grant is just horrible. Grant has the potential to be a good walkable corridor between all of the new development near the library and the Normandy area, and this will be a missed opportunity.
  15. I like the "The Peninsula" branding. Can't wait for this to happen!
