Major changes in store for Dayton International Airport By John Nolan, Staff Writer Tuesday, May 27, 2008 DAYTON — Coming to the Dayton International Airport: change. In late June, the airport will start hosting live music acts in the lobby of the airport's main terminal building, with solo acts and bands to perform in a space near the main entry door. By the end of 2010, a three-story parking garage is to be built right outside the terminal building's front door in a $40 million project. Its first level will be entirely devoted to car rental agencies, with the second and third floors to offer a total of 1,400 spaces for public parking. The garage's construction, to be funded by airport revenues and user fees paid by customers who rent cars at the airport, is to begin in spring 2009. The airport has begun designing a major renovation of the public lobby space that will remove baggage screening machines that will be relocated in what will be a newly constructed rear section of the building. Construction is to start in 2009 and be done by mid-2010. More at http://www.DaytonDailyNews.com.
  2. Does anyone have an update or know the status of this project!? I've been thinking about it lately. . .and haven't heard a thing!!
  3. Nope, I believe it is on page 6. . . .there's an editor's note that say, this will be the final issue of The Downtowner. .

  6. I second that motion. Cindaynati, reflects the population. Dayton has 890k, cincinnati has 2.1+ mil and is the largest metro in ohio based on projected population trends Yes, but Daytonnati just sounds better. . .and is easier to say! :)
  7. DAYTONNATI. . .Learn it, Live it, Love it! hahahhahaa
  8. I think that had more to do with being able to use the federal clean up funds that were allocated to the project while they were still available. I figured it had more to do with a group of people fighting to save the building. no building = no fight
  9. Ugh. . .I wish they would have given us something new, it is indeed a recycling effort of pretty much everything we knew. I'd still like to see a plan for the corner of patterson and stewart. They sure were quick to tear down that building...go figure. But they have no idea what they are going to put there. . .
  10. I'm still hoping they can pull it together and make the big dance, but losing to GW is NOT a good sign. I think their RPI is still good, but they better hope there are not a lot of teams that win their respective conferences that are not suppose too... .
  11. UD is falling a part. . .losing to GW?!?!? Ugh ;-( I think they may now have the same record as Wright State?
  12. Oh lord. . .I sure hope Rhine Mclin is not attending this. No one will move :-( www.daytondailynews.com Local leaders plan BRAC open house in Texas Staff Report Thursday, January 24, 2008 DAYTON — Economic development officials anticipating the scheduled transfer of hundreds of jobs to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base by 2011 are working to encourage employees currently in those positions to relocate to the Dayton area. The Dayton Development Coalition said Thursday it is planning a "Meet the Dayton Community" open house in San Antonio, Texas, on a date to be determined sometime late this summer...
  13. Interesting article. . . .this company has an office in suburban cincy and suburban dayton and now is going to close them both and move right into the heart of Daytonati to form 1 big office. . .I wonder how many more moves like this we'll see from companies in similar situations? Paychex considers move to Middletown A payroll and human resources outsourcing firm may put down roots in Middletown, its local newspaper reported Monday. Rochester, N.Y.-based Paychex has applied for an enterprise zone tax abatement, according to a story in the Middletown Journal. If it's approved by Middletown City Council, the company plans to consolidate its Miamisburg and Blue Ash locations at the city-owned Smart Office Park on Union Road. The move would bring 117 jobs to Middletown, and Paychex said it would create about 14 additional jobs over the first three years. 14. Does anyone know if Archie Griffin suffered a heart attack/stroke yesterday? I have a friend who was on a flight from Tampa to Dayton, who said he was sitting next to Archie and Archie's assistant and while in mid-flight, Archie suffered a heart attack. He said they laid him down on the seat and there was also a nurse on the flight who stabilized him. Once they landed in Dayton, they were met by a medical team to take him to a hospital. I haven't heard anything since, but was wondering if anyone knows anything or can verify this?
  15. What is going on with the mass exodus of restaurants in Dayton? It's like one has shut down every day for the last week?!?!? The Economy? Add to that, The Bombay store closing, J. Crew Closing. . .it's nuts!
  16. Thanks! I'm more than happy to go to the arena and see how the seating is numbered, but I don't know if it's open to the public to just walk in and check it out. I'm part of a big event that comes there in April and I'm trying to figure out where the best seats are going to be. . .
  17. I guess from left to right. . . If I'm standing on the court and looking at the center (welcome stadium would be on my left, courtyard mariott on my right). . .does it go 1-16 from left to right or 16-1 from left to right.
  18. okay. . .UD fans, I have a question that has been driving me bonkers. Do the seats at UD arena start at 1 at the aisle seat and work their way in or does it start with the last number like 16 on the aisle and work its way in?
  19. Dayton is now at #14 in one poll and #18 in the other. . . .
  20. funny. . . .for the longest time The greene spokespeople were promising the addition of men's clothing stores as well as home furnishing stores. I see neither of those on this release. . .so it's probably very likely they couldn't land those tenants. Fantastic, it's back to Columbus or Cincy I go. I don't care how high profile a tenant these people land. . .the fact that there is a payless shoes there says they are struggling to find tenants. So much for high-end and bringing retail that does not exist in this area. . .ugh

It's very rare that I agree with Kingfish  But, he's right in this situation. The very best thing for you right now is to just get out and as soon as possible. Funnel all your energy into finding a place for yourself. Now that we know your other roommate is switzerland, you're never going to win this without losing a friend. You may have 8 more months, but trust me, this thing is going to blow up big time before you reach it. It's just best to remove yourself. Pick up the pieces and move on, you'll at least be able to save your friendship that way. That's my very best advice.
  23. I don't know if this goes here or I should start another topic. Mods, let me know. But here is a quick list of those celebs that are affiliated with the Daytonati Region. 24. I think if we compiled a list of celebrities that are from/of the CIN-DAY area, it would be much more extensive than most would think. I think Cin-Day/Daytonati has been home to more celebrities than you'd think
