I have to drive 75 everyday for work now...and I have realized that I think my favorite spot for a skyline pic would be very close to where the old Rey Rey/clock tower building is along 75. Acutally maybe 100 feet north of that building looking at the bridge going to Sinclair and on into downtown, but I have no clue how I would get that photo, unless my car broke down right there on 75 or I risked my life! :-) But I look at if everyday from that spot (going north on 75) and it's awesome- Dayton Skyline Time, Suckers!
I LOVE Pigboy's Monet-esque Pics, but I also really like this one, that I think is his as well:- Dayton International Airport

From Dayton Daily News Monday, August 20, 2007 DAYTON — The Dayton International Airport's administration plans to break ground on Sept. 17 for a new air traffic control tower that will cost at least $30 million and won't be operational until 2010. The airport's administration is planning an 11 a.m. ground-breaking ceremony for that day and will invite regional officials, airport spokesman Gene Conrad said Monday. The federal government pays the full cost for the new control tower. It will replace the current one built in 1961. The project is part of the government's effort to replace obsolete equipment nationwide in an air traffic control system straining to handle increased numbers of flights and air travelers. The Federal Aviation Administration estimates that the Dayton tower will cost $30.6 million, not including equipment and furnishings. Construction is to be completed in 2009, but the tower won't be operational until the summer of 2010 while electronic and security equipment is installed and tested, FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Cory said. This has ALWAYS been one of my favorite pics of Dayton:- Cincinnati-Dayton Megalopolis
I think commuting from CIN to Day and vice versa is more common place than most think. I was very close to taking a job in Sharonville and driving from Dayton every day. My best friend drove from downtown dayton to downtown cincy for about 2 years. I work right next to a guy who lives in Hyde Park and drives to NCR in Dayton every day for work....and then once you expand into WC, Mason etc....I think it's all over place the patterns of where people live/work. It truly is starting to blend into one big *ss area!- Dayton: Skyline shots from two locations taken on 7/20/07

I think I just died a little on the inside! My parents use to take me and my brother there every sunday after church. Lots of great memories. From the huge water/river feature in the restaurant, to the gigantic water wheel that was in the basement. I remember as a little boy watching the chefs make cakes...as they had a window that you could watch them as they decorated the cakes!- Population Still Streaming Out of Montgomery, Hamilton.

I have to agree with the rust-belt self loathing comment. I work for a fortune 500 company here in Dayton and of all the people I work with in my immediate group; 12 in total, none of them live in Dayton Proper (though one does live in Hyde Park---so figure that out! :-) ) However, we are constantly having visitors to dayton from all over the country and world b/c WHQ is here and I was completely shocked overhearing people just cut down Downtown Dayton. We had set up a group of colleagues from France in the Crowne Plaza and at breakfast one morning before our meetings I was shocked to hear a handful of people tell this group not to venture outside downtown b/c it was dangerous...etc. etc. I pulled the group aside and explained to them that what they were told was indeed NOT true and they would be fine downtown, just be smart. I pointed out they could walk to the Oregon and there we a lot of nice cafes, restaurants etc. and just filled them in on a little Dayton history etc. The next day one woman from Paris approached me and said you’re right, it is very nice downtown, I’m not sure why everyone was making it out to be so bad. Hmmmmm go figure…darn suburbanites.- The Ohio State University Buckeyes Basketball Discussion

PrfctTimeOfDay replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI looked closely at the Kettering tower today and on the southside where the brown "board like" material use to be, there is now a much darker black window or something. I could pressume it's a window/glass, but it's definitely not the same type of glass as the rest of the buidling, because if you look closely they stick out. - Dayton: "Downtown's just fine."
