Cincinnati: Pendleton: Development and News
Was really excited for this project as I'm actively looking for an apartment or a house to rent. The 2 bedrooms are even more insane. They were basically $3,000 or more when I last checked.

I can't say I'm surprised, but it is still wild that they messed this up that they got denied.

Not yet. The house next to it was demo'd. They're finishing up the new Tri-Delta house currently. The exterior is nearly done and the inside is getting furniture installed. I imagine they'll demo the old house after spring semester.

I don't know how I missed that. 😕 I guess that answers that. Wonder what the route will look like. I also think that if there's a UC stop there then the building renovations going on at the bottom of straight street will become more focused on getting students now.

Too bad I don't have an architecture degree. :( That would be an interesting discussion. I think capping 75 and despaghetting that interchange (why are there so many exits and on ramps within such a short amount of time?) would be the best middle ground.

Cincinnati: Camp Washington: Development and News
Since this is fully focused on student housing, I'm wondering how they'll sell it to students. Straight street isn't friendly to pedestrians (it gets extremely icy in the winter), and is exhausting to go up or down. Are they going to have UC expand their shuttle route to there?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I think a BRT would be better suited to this project. Something like what Cleveland has. Although I'm all for putting a streetcar route there, I don't know if they would want to spend the funds on it.

Is there any discussion going on about using some of those federal funds for capping 75 or does it seem that only Columbus going to get capped interstates?

Is there still hope for the more textured façade or has that shipped sailed?

40mph+. I think the speed limit is 30 to 35mph, but as is Cincinnati Police Department tradition, there is no enforcement on the road. I like the 5 point intersection. I feel like it's uniqueness is a nice touch and it's not massive like the one at the top of the hill with ravine and McMillian.

Wonder how this is going to be laid out. Are they going to cut into the hill and have multiple entrances? Also will the subway section there be demo'd for this construction? Not sure why I care that a tunnel with no use gets demolished, but..

Imagine if the lawsuit ends up allowing the building to be auctioned. Maybe we could pool enough money together to win the auction... I'm worried that this building is going to end up like the plaza hotel. I hear tenants are moving out of the building to adjacent buildings since the building hasn't had many improvements since it was built.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
I'd imagine if developers wait long enough for the demand for a new hotel becomes even higher, they can get a better deal with building. Such as TIF, the city paying for part of it, or giving up some ROW.. Or if you wait long enough, such as paul brown stadium, you can get a say in what goes on around the hotel. That being said, there's a point, such as the world cup, where I feel you wouldn't be able to play the waiting game for too long since you'll miss the boat on the event. But I'm not a insanely wealthy developer or real estate tycoon, and they probably have a different mentality towards all this that makes them that wealthy.

Demo work began on the remaining existing buildings for the next phase of The District at Clifton Heights. The former frat/party house on the corner of Straight and Clifton is no more as of yesterday.

I don't believe so. I think the first floor will still be sunken down a bit from street level. I don't think any of UC's buildings are integrated with public roads either.

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
After looking at it some more, it looks like they're not doing the more textured metal look? I think it may have been VE'd out.

The facade is going up on Calhoun. It looks like it's two parts. There's a flat component, that looks almost like it's made out of Styrofoam, with the windows built in that is attached to the building. I haven't seen the more textured wavy part being put on yet. I'll post pictures when I go up there later today.

Cincinnati: General Business & Economic News
This is what my friend at GE Energy said as well. They said it was more about some stock, executive, and c-level ways to increase value in each division. I think we might see some office development out of it, but it wouldn't be until into the 2030s.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
Did some googling. Found a floor plan. I think the floor plan is a little better for residential than it seems. Although that interior core is going to be tough to utilize.

Allowing new construction above 4 stories would be very expensive to build on those side streets. Our building codes don't really make tallish buildings with small footprints easy to accomplish. The developers probably want to see the same result as The Verge did with its side street. It'd be really nice to see some dense row houses be built to replace some of the more mutilated housing stock that can be common in the area. Though I don't know how realistic that dream is any more.

Personal Finance / Investing Thread
From what I've heard, Workhorse was absolutely banking on getting the USPS contract. Not sure about anything C-Level but I know that they were giving people partial pay in shares of the company so there was definitely a possible motive for their actions.

So no Corpex architectural oddities this time?

I like option 6. It should help calm that street down the most in my mind. I also like the grass in the median.

No I'm just wording it poorly. I mean the residents who are living on fairview all get their own makeshift parking permit. Now this wouldn't have any enforcement besides making it unappealing to non residents or people that are coming for game days/events as they wouldn't know that it wasn't enforced.
