Cincinnati: Housing Market / Affordable Housing
its easy to say section 8 doesnt work, but I havent heard any better ideas. Remember if you throw out the section 8 dwellers, youre throwing out kids and elderly into the street.

im more of a corner bar kinda guy. i'd have to say im glad places like this exist for the 21-25 crowd, when I was that age I definitely spend my share of time starting at hot chicks at clubs like those above.

Power internet, 3000 kbps up 3000 kbps down.
so far I think I'm sticking with DSL. I'm getting serious packet loss with the broadband thru electrical outlet. and the speed is about 1/4 of the advertised speed download, and 1/2 of the upload speed. its nice to have the great upload speed but the packetloss is horrible, making serious delays when surfing, and making on-line gaming reminiscent of the 56K days. I'm gonna call them today to see if this is expected to be fixed.

I just signed up for this. the modem should arrive today or tomorrow. they had a few 22 year old kids going door to door selling the service in my hood (pleasant ridge). I was the easiest sale ever. 3mb up/down for $39.99 with 12th month free and first month freee? Plus discounts if other people sign up in your hood. There are no fluctuations in speed like DSL (if you live further from the CO, its slower) and it doesnt slow down when everyone logs on like cable. Its sounds too good to be true. I may be able to have no land line and no cable either! wow! review to follow

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
i just moved into this area this weekend. we finally closed on our house in pleasant ridge. as much as the bargain stores don't appeal to me, there is a need for them in this area. i'm always looking for a bargain so a tj max/marshalls/ross (do they even have them in ohio?) would be a good fit. or an outlet store or 2. we have all the fast food we could use, except a dunkin donuts which i would welcome :) te traffic is horrible day or night so i tend to avoid that exit off 71. im sure i'll have lots of ideas after a few months.

Norwood: Development and News
No you don't. It is a a high end consignment shop for older women. It is nothing like an IKEA. I am sure it is a decent place and it fills a demographic but other than that... bah. http://www.shopsnooty.com/ you were right. we went to the one in west chester. let down. was hoping to find a kick ass dining room table for cheap. crap. did have thebest piza since i moved here at Fratellis though. see restaurant review.

Norwood: Development and News
I'm a big crate and barrel fan. best of all the yuppie furnishings stores. much better than pottery barn. I'd like to see one here. I just moved here from PHL, where we have 2 Ikeas within 15 miles of each other, and as cool and easy as it is to go there and spend $300 on knicknacks, Ikeas furniture is crapola. Now that college is becoming a distant memory, Ikea has less appeal to me, but I do think the area would be served well by one.

Songs about States, Cities, Places, etc.
No Ohio music discussion would be complete without a GBV song or 2. Ohio's most prolific band (who are actually calling it quite this year). DAYTON, OHIO - 19 SOMETHING AND 5 Isn't it great to exist at this point in time? Where the produce is rotten but no one is forgotten On strawberry Philadelphia Drive Children in the sprinkler, junkies on the corner The smell of fried foods and pure hot tar Man, you needn't travel far to feel completely alive On strawberry Philadelphia Drive On a hazy day in 19 something and 5

Forest Park: Forest Fair Mall / Cincinnati Mills Redevelopment
- Forest Park: Forest Fair Mall / Cincinnati Mills Redevelopment
i checked it out last weekend. Im new to cinci, so I was expecting a NEW mall but it looked like any old mall to me. It was obvious it was once another mall. dirty carpets and old fixtured in most stores. what happened? how long was it closed. the mills corp has an outlet mall where I moved from (philly). this one didnt seem to be an outlet except for the of 5th store.- Cincinnati Gay Rights
wow! I'm new to cincinnati and I was wondering why so many black youths were approaching me downtown asking me to sign petitions to ban gay marriage. I did a lot of research and came up with the same info on Burress and CCV. Glad I'm not alone in my aggravation. This city seems to need more open-mindedness. - Forest Park: Forest Fair Mall / Cincinnati Mills Redevelopment
