  1. Couple sarcastic quips: The proposed houses are small, compared to some the homes in this area. The neighborhood does have a park, the watershed park on the other end of Delaware Rd.
  2. I forgot to post these photos from last week of them raising the first few cornices on the Heights Medical Building. I'll try to swing by this week to check on the progress. Also, I noticed the garage off Lennox is reopened.
  3. Yes, but I'd much prefer residential/retail at that location over another hospital building. The amount of foot traffic that crosses that intersection could support some ground level stores.
  4. I was curious about the Highland land around Northfield and Harvard. Blue line could be extended some to reach it.
  5. Oops, sorry. This page accidentally landed on page 2. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again.
  6. Is anything in the works for the gravel lot at Warrensville and Chagrin? With the Raye all but complete, that lot looks like the biggest eyesore in this neighborhood. If i recall from proposals long ago, the paved lot outside the Market Hall was also "Ttemporary".
  7. Has there been any progress on replacement of the Stones Levee bridge that was removed? It's my understanding that it's going to be replaced by a new one, for cars and people.
  8. Even if it's just a stand in image, it's far better than the previous proposal for that lot. The older image reminded me of the building below on East Blvd, which would have more of a fortress feel than a welcoming community feel. I'm not sure the market is there. But a taller building on that site would be cool. The apartments/condos on Shaker, right around the corner are all 10-12 stories.
  9. I haven't seen it in person, but it's unfortunate that it sounds like it's cold feeling. The now okd building is quite a nice design with the red brick, archways and open floor plan. Hopefully some more life will be brought to the new space.
  10. Is it just me or is it really hard to gauge sarcasm in written form.
  11. I can only assume this is what you were referencing when writing this post.
  12. I'll make sure to wear the same thing, just to throw everyone off!
  13. On my drive down Random Rd this morning I noticed a TurnDev banner on the warehouse/parking garage along the tracks. Is something brewing there?
  14. Have there been an discussion on ways to activate the old tudor train stations at Coventry (Green line) and Farnsleigh (Blue line)? Both look great architecturally, but have been vacant for at least 10 years. It would be great if a small coffee shop or something went in there that catered to both RTA riders and others.
  15. I'd have to guess the rent at the renovated Nighttown location would be quite a bit higher than Shaker Square. I'd like to see how well he does there. Nighttown lasted forever because the owner of the restaurant also owned the building. With a new building owner, the rent costs will be high to justify the purchase of the building. That end of Cedar Fairmount also remains unproven, compared to a stable Shaker Square. Unless a few actual stores/restaurants start opening up at the Ascent.
  16. I'd welcome another 15 story building or two. Maybe one at Warrensville and Chagrin and another replacing the Key and Ohio City Banks on Farnsleigh. I've always thought that area could turn into a mini Bethesda, in terms of a small downtown area that's neatled closed to single family homes. Awhile back before VAD happened, the strip was proposed to be replaced by townhouses and small shops, in a walkable way. I think the fact that all or most shops are rented, may be slowing down the need to redevelop it. If it ain't broken, don't fix it. But I'd also love to see townhomes replace that strip, especially along Farnsleigh.
  17. Good to hear they may be reusing a floor from last year. I've been told that the Cavs have or used to have a warehouse on Perkins where they'd store the flooring and other stuff. If you got lucky, you could dumpster dive on trash day and get quality maple flooring. I was never so lucky to confirm though.
  18. Here's a good argument against a dome in cities like Cleveland. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/thursday-nights-game-should-end-all-talk-of-a-dome-in-cleveland-and-elsewhere
  19. This would never happen, but is the lower level strong enough to support cars and trucks? It'd be cool if they redirected traffic down below and make the upper level a park, like a continuation of Irishtown, linking to Public Square.
  20. Ooh! The skyscraper hotel project!?!
  21. Are there different pictures of bombs dropping for different levels of stories. Say this one for a decent project, but atomic explosion for say a much larger one? Just trying to gauge the impact of upcoming stories based on bomb pics.
  22. What about the lot at the northwest corner of Chester and 107? Or where the key bank is? I could imagine a development where the fire station is across from the old Rite Aid. The RiteAid location is another possibility. Or next to the Doubletree at 105 and Carnegie. Or in the lot on the northeast corner of this intersection. Lots of possibilities for skyline changinh buildings. If we're lucky, many of these will be built on.
  23. Does anyone know if the mature oak trees on the site of phase 2 will be saved or should we assume they'll be cutting them down?
  24. Maybe, but is it to remove the Stones Levee bridge?
  25. Having traffic still run through the square is not solving anything, it will still end up being a fast cut through for traffic. Is redirecting traffic around the square off the table? This would create the most vibrant square, especially with the integrated train line passing through like a European plaza.
