Cleveland SC Soccer Stadium
I'm guessing they are referring to these lots, northeast corner of 40th and Euclid. Mostly parking for Regional Sewer and the County Social Services. But some other buildings would have to move including the ACLU, Level 3, and RTA. Would create a pretty dynamic midtown entertainment district with the Agora and the Penn Square development in the works.

Cleveland SC Soccer Stadium
Can you clarify this statement. It implies to me that if it was a dedicated Men's facility, it could be fine, but certainly not a Women's only team. What makes a Women's pro team less than a Men's? Think about the billions we have spent on pro sports for Men, yet we can't spend what would be a nominal comparison on a Women's only facility? Or one shared with a Men's team?

Cleveland SC Soccer Stadium
To the suggestions offered so far, I'd rather have a field dedicated to only the professional sports teams. I'd keep colleges/schools out of the mix, except for special events or tournaments. On a side note, a downtown, an indoor soccer training facility would make wonderful sense, with multiple fields that schools and clubs from the region could use during the winter months. A state of the art facility like this would be a draw regionally for clubs. This would make sense in proximity to this NWSL field, likely south of Progressive Field. Other communities in the suburbs have similar fields, but what major cities have such fields in a downtown location? My kids currently use the east side Force fields, which are pretty much trash and an embarrassment.

It almost swoops up into the Fifth Third building from here inside Progressive Field.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
See, it is possible to have swimming off the lakefront, just see what happens in Chicago. No beach needed. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CvP2-7Xg1NM/?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
This is too bold of an idea for Cleveland, but in thinking more about the closing of the Eagle Ave. bridge, rather than replacement, I'd be more interested in something similar to this proposed "Tower of the Sun" skyscraper/bridge project in Kazakhstan. I could see it with an arch, allowing boats to pass underneath, but with a public access elevators so people can pass from one side of the river to the other, with of course an observation deck on top. https://www.instagram.com/p/CrS9lpTL0qt/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Shaker Heights: Van Aken District Transit Oriented Development
It's always been my understanding that taxes in SH are higher due to the quality of services the city provides, combined with the low corporate tax base. If more companies were headquartered in SH, then taxes would not be as high.

Yes, but I wished they would've considered adding some sort of landscaping. I can see in 5 years it being a cracked, weedy island.

Cleveland: University Circle: CWRU ISEB Research Center
I'm guessing the reason why the CWRU administration and board do not favor this is the same reason why SW did not want benches in front of their building. It's a perception that they have to keep a certain population of people out of the quad. Probably the same reason why the buildings along MLK are built as a perceived fortress, but not along Adelbert. It's a larger cultural issue that we are still waging.

Cleveland: St. Clair-Superior (non-Asiatown): Development and News
Artists have lived and worked in this neighborhood for 40 years+. Ingenuity went to the neighborhood because artists were there, they didn't follow ingenuity. Brownhoist is only capitalizing on an under known asset. This is really the beginning of the end for artists in this neighborhood.

Shaker Heights: Van Aken District Transit Oriented Development
I find it hard to believe that VAD will overtake Shaker Square. What the Square has that VAD does not is many more residents, in all directions of the square. They also don't compete in the type of retailers they are attracting. They are reaching out to two completely different market bases, which provide two unique offerings that compliment each other, rather than compete with each other. What I do see if VAD offering the Square a benchmark on how they should pursue their redevelopment, including adding more walkable zones and having places for people to just hang out and relax. Right now, Shaker Square has not place to just be in, even if they are not shopping. It's either go to a store or go home. Closing traffic through the Square is the first step to make this happen. This could easily be a duplicate version of Public Square, with all the same amenities, plus more.

Shaker Heights: Van Aken District Transit Oriented Development
It's curious that VAD is being labeled as part of the I271 corridor. Looking at a map, SH and VAD are not even as far west as some parts of the city of Cleveland, such as Lee-Miles, which feels to be within a stones throw of the I271 corridor. If this development were placed in that area, would the same argument be made? People are moving to VAD and its surrounding neighborhood for the TOD lifestyle and are using it. Shaker is unique that they are they only suburb with a train line let alone two. As someone in the Shaker Square area, we DO take the train to VAD, along with bike and walk, all assets of a TOD development.

Sounds very Nimbyism to cry foul to their work. Only difference is the mural won't take away any parking spaces.

Cleveland: University Circle: CWRU ISEB Research Center
This sounds great. My only ask, or put it, beg, is that they don't treat the MLK side of the building as a bonafide loading dock. That whole stretch of buildings that front the quad, but butt along MLK need to be redesigned to provide a better streetside presence along the road way.

Am I the only downer here who read this as the Browns are now likely to win the AFC Championship at home, but while playing in another home city. Just Cleveland's luck.

Cleveland: St. Clair-Superior (non-Asiatown): Development and News
That's a pretty cool building to see. But, from what I remember, it is already a live/work space. I've been to small gallery openings there and have visited friends living there. Probably just not an advertised live/work space.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Thanks, Ken, for the article. These are all going to be great. While I like the flashy ones around downtown, that will bring more residents and visitors. The two more impactful projects to me are the Cleveland Print Room building, which is an example of an artist studio in the Superior Arts district moving to Hough. This represents a bit of the exodus of artists from one neighborhood to another, which is a necessary evil and will really help transform Hough now. The other is the WXZ redevelopment in UC. I was in this building 20 years ago and was surprised then that people were allowed to rent from it. This will help continue the push of Euclid Ave further east.

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
The question I have is will the new prison only be a new prison, or will there be other important services updated or added to it new, that cannot be added to the current one? Such as drug and alcohol remediation, transitioning, support for families, etc. If we look it as only a place to house inmates, then judicial reform is the question, but if it is being looked at as a revamp of everything that has been done before in Cuyahoga County, like a systemic change in philosophy to incarceration, then a new, 21st century building makes sense.
