  1. From Public Square to the interbelt, the only one left is next the the Union Club and the insane lawns at Cleveland State right?
  2. If there was a 900’ category in the spreadsheet Cleveland would be the only City with one. Take that other similarly sized city skylines... In my opinion I like the scale of the proposed buildings, Superior will be much improved from a street level perspective/scale. I expect a wholesale effort by the City to improve the condition of sidewalks, streets, street landscaping and bus shelters (by RTA) around the whole development, which would of course be great. Looking forward to what the view from the Main Avenue Bridge will be, maybe one more view???
  3. Also, is the stepping of the Jacobs lot building just an assumption by the modeler, or does it come from insight gained from the sources?
  4. That’s an interesting comment, nothing exceeds like excess I suppose.

Thanks Cleburger for adding the embedded link, I’m not the savviest of inter web users. How about the roller coaster next to the power plant? Or the density along Woodland south of Carnegie, also a quick glance at the old Haymarket/Big Italy neighborhood just prior to the New York Central building their freight terminal along Orange Avenue.

Incredible 1924 aerials in this old Illuminating Company video, truly mind blowing... https://youtu.be/7de8Z1x1LJc
  7. There was also a bar on the second floor of the Robin Hood called O'Lincoln's for a short time, right yannigoglack? $1 Molson drafts and jelloshots if I'm not mistaken. Spent a month there one night...
  8. "Wolstein successfully turned a $2 billion dollar company into a $1 billion dollar company since taking over the family business..." quote from a local developer.
  9. In regards to the garage behind the Rockefeller, I think it's ridiculous that Landmarks would holdup a huge investment into a portion of downtown that is looking to transition out of an auto-centric use because of a truly subpar building that was originally constructed as a parking garage (correct me if I'm wrong on the original use). So it was ok to demo the Columbia building and the old Richman's building at Prospect and Huron and build a skywalk for a casino parking garage? I get it, we've demoed so much in this City over the years, that much is way too obvious unfortunately, but there are buildings that are worth the trade, and throwing up the same argument for every single building that comes up for demo and redevelopment erodes the mission of the Landmarks Commission, in my opinion.
  10. Big fan of the view west down Euclid with the closed off Public Square.
  11. An unbelievable blow, Sokolowski’s is closing permanently. https://www.ideastream.org/news/iconic-cleveland-eatery-sokolowskis-calls-it-quits?fbclid=IwAR2T7izy7bvB6Zc4f9rhPavE__Pr8yWGUavi4s42adNXkThDDhWNppubxig
  12. Unreal. What a waste. I remember those warehouses just SW of the cold storage building (I77 squeezed between them), they were such eyesores at the time but still so interesting to a 6 year old kid. Pass them heading south and you immediately started to smell the steel mills.
  13. It does widen a bit once you get past the first building at that E12th/alley intersection
  14. Not sure edgy is the right word.
  15. Still from the show “Route 66,” episode #27, filmed in Cleveland

    ^its a Pennsylvania thing.
  17. Those apartments are terrible, especially from an urban design perspective; no front door facing the street, cheap composite materials and interior blinds that will surely never be open to contribute to “eyes on the street” safety that’s important in this neighborhood. I expect nothing more from Rick Maron’s recent interest in this kind of project.
  18. Crazy thing about watching that video is that both scenes are probably more picturesque today than back then due to the expansive tree growth over the past 100 years.
  19. I understand that this is possibly nip picking for a project with nice density and good street presence, I’m just saying: *The scattered, random box aesthetic has had its day. *The form and scale are dynamic and interesting enough without the self indulgent facade treatment and clunky material transitions that often define multi-family apartment buildings and mixed use projects today.
  20. Different design architect for W25th and Detroit thankfully.
  21. Quite a few design gimmicks in this LDA designed project. Liking the density though. Hopefully this development team’s next project at Detroit and W25th has a more refined result.
  22. The renaissance will be about 200 feet closer to the new SW HQ than the previous, not sure they’d notice much more hotel usage than before.
  23. ^Honestly, the quality of Heck's was going down hill prior to COVID. Glad to hear Red is opening back up.
  24. And the great playground shown in the aerial!
