Cleveland Heights: Development and News
There were so many reasons why the new incarnation of Nightown didn't make it, a few from my handful of experiences there this year: 1. The front bar was reasonably similar to the previous setup, however the sidebar to the east was a disaster. Nothing on the walls but ethernet wires, lighting was always incredibly bright. 2. The Dublin Lawyer dish, historically its most famous, was not what it used to be and actually subbed out the rice, which soaked up the delicious flavor of the rest of the dish, for gnocchi. When asked for a side of rice they said they no longer had rice so that customers couldn't patch together the old dish. 3. The formerly loungy performance area, with its worn carpet and good acoustics, is now LVT flooring, had noticeably terrible acoustics, and walls painted blue that seemed to allude to a nautical theme. Tables and chairs were more aesthetically suited for a Chuk-E-Cheese. 4. Seems like staffing was a problem as there wasn't one time the bartender could make a decent cocktail. Really sad to see it close because I had such high hopes, but it truly was a shell of its former self. Hopefully someone can make a go of it in the future, such a great location.

That first image is Superior just west of the Old Arcade. You can see Hotel Cleveland in the background.

Cleveland: Downtown: Ten60 Bolivar Apartments
Whole city is filled with the remnants of cut down trees, light poles and street signs. Many of which are actually pretty dangerous on multiple levels. Here’s one on Huron at E8th.

If this was built in Europe it would have had 2 tower cranes.

^^ yet a cross section of people and multiple local businesses insist on calling themselves Sixth City Xxxx... Nauseating self deprecation or lack of knowledge? Hard to say. To the comment on whether the Terminal Tower complex was a blessing or a curse. It's an interesting question that could fill multiple evenings at the bar for people educated on the subject.

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
^So in yet another instance, this country's infrastructure is worse off than it was 80 years ago. What a mess.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
I’ve been to the New Belgium Asheville location and found it to be an uncomfortable, sun bleached area outside a reasonable walking distance from the intimate breweries in the urban fabric of the city. Wouldn’t go back.

^Pff. You’re kidding right? Have you seen the as-yet-used freezer building?

As far as I can tell Cleveland.com still hasn’t reported any of this.

Due to the site conditions I can’t imagine anything under $1,000,000 on the low end.

The exterior is equally confused as the interior.

Cleveland: Buckeye-Shaker: Development and News
This whole saga reeks of political insider non-sense. A county council president buys a random dilapidated vacant building along the right-of-way of an as-yet announced boulevard, likely hoping for a big payout when the state comes through picking up properties for the project. It didn't pan out and now he's looking to rope the city into paying for demo of a building he's allowed to rot for 15 years, and offers a verbal agreement to pay the city back. What a joke. I'm glad August Fluker called this guy out at Planning Commission.

It really is. Send them a range of addresses and years via email and they’ll happily send you any images they have for free (unless you’re using it for a business in which case they charge a few bucks).

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Lakefront Road, which predated 1-90, actually did slip south along the railroad tracks, allowing Gordon Park to maintain a greater lakefront length. The double parking lanes on the south end of the current Gordon Park are the old road beds of Lakefront Road. Crazy. Clicking year over year on this website really shows how Gordon Park has been hacked away. https://www.arcgis.com/apps/View/index.html?appid=ddb0ee6134d64de4adaaa3660308abfd

^Yeah, it's probably more than $300,000,000 to move the freeway. It's relocating a minimum 1.5 miles of interstate highway, 8 lanes wide, with multiple entries/exits a significant grade change and then removal of the existing roadbed.

^I'd disagree with that. The siting of the new building is perhaps the worst in the City along both Prospect AND Euclid, effectively ruining the possibility of a continuous street wall for decades.
