Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Awesome. Crazy how the tower crane is literally sitting on the parking deck with just a stack of counter weights to keep it steady.

Looks like it will be a horizontal jib crane afterall.

Cleveland: University Circle: Centric Development (formerly Intesa)
The 1st floor is concrete, but the upper levels are certainly wood construction.

Isn't it only closing for a week?

Since the original construction of the garage utilized a "Luffing" crane, I'd assume it will be the same this time around. The "horizontal jib" type crane might not have the turning radius to be effective with all the other building around.

It's also got a great presence among the trees as you head south to Euclid Ave on MLK

^Maybe the Clinic could have expanded in a sustainable manner instead of completely obliterating what would probably by now be a dynamic, fully revitalized neighborhood that helped jumpstart the revitalization of Hough and Glenville to the north, and Fairfax to the south, attracting potentially even greater staff and accolades from around the world due to its good work. We could have had the Clinic and this scenario with a little foresight and compassion for the neighborhood, two traits I assumed doctors would maintain as a profession. Instead we have the complete opposite.

KJP is right. It's a view south down E105th from a building on the west side of the street. The old OCPM Building (tall one on the other side of the street in the background) is at the corner of Carnegie. Great find, never seen this photo. Amazing. Instead we have a 6 lane street with terrible Clinic buildings in its place.

^Totally correct. The Tremont project at Fairfield and W11th, the Langston and Breakwater Bluffs are also of this ilk.

The house on W7th is not being built on spec, there is a buyer on board. Project should be done in the coming months.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
My body went numb when looking at the Euclid Corridor construction, empty surface lots and that terrible 1980's Mayfield/Euclid building. What a difference 10 years can make.

Are you commenting on my clean up job? If so you do remember that I am not an architect nor do I pretend to be one. :) A few years ago I was one of the judges at the Urban Design Center for a contest among architectural students to design new train stations. I was struck at how brutally impolite the critiques were by their architectural professors. And it made me wonder how these people would react to seeing their children making drawings of buildings and cities for the first time. Perhaps they would rip their toddlers for not acknowledging proper programming, context and engineering design techniques! ;) The cleaned up version is better for sure. KJP, you're an artist!
