  1. First, according to the Cleveland City Planning Commission GIS website and County Auditor, it's Professor Street. Second, the aerials are out of date.
  2. The houses going up at the corner of West 19th & Smith are the first houses that Mr. Berges has constructed in Duck Island, though he has built several super insulated, low energy houses throughout the City. The lots at W19th & Smith were sold to an architect, with Berges acting as the builder.
  3. In hindsight I'd rather have Winston Willis as a neighbor than the Cleveland Clinic.
  4. Wow, just wow to that photo of 1970's/80's Euclid Avenue. I agree with TBideon. I'm speechless.
  5. According to cleveland.com, looks like the cluster of buildings at Huron & Prospect have changed. Interesting article, and even more interesting photos. The one from 1948... Amazing... http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/11/pointe_at_gateway_sells_for_52.html#incart_river
  6. "Drury Plaza" sounds like a marginal medium density residential building from SimCity2000. If you've ever played that you know what I'm talking about.
  7. It's aluminum paneling according to the presentation. Underwhelming...
  8. I wasn't sure where to put this link, but it's a fascinating historical map resource. A good way to waste an entire weekend. http://peoplemaps.esri.com/cleveland/
  9. Just playing along with the famous Clevelander bridge (the Charles Bridge in Prague is awesome), who would be on there? Rockefeller Garrett Morgan Tom Johnson Marcus Hanna Moses Cleaveland Stokes Bob Hope Garfield Mantis & Oris Van Sweringen Brush Schrekengost (sp)

The lights on Key have been on, they didn't come on until 8pm though. Probably still on the summer lighting schedule.
  11. If you look at the current tennis courts, it's already setback at an angle from the street. They are simply surrounding the existing courts with a building of the exact same shape.
  12. ^buy out the Knights of Columbus... Stubborn land owners unfortunately.
  13. The purple is poorly represented glass in the rendering.

While I applaud the overall renovation of this complex and millions invested by the project team, I believe the interior design, especially in the main lobby of the Breuer Tower, completely misses the mark, looks cheap, and is incompatible with the original space. Way too much "stuff" like animal skin rug, the 2 hideous and misplaced chairs near the entry, the light fixtures that speak more to a folksy industrial aesthetic, coffered ceilings, etc. A more austere approach would have been much more successful in letting the original design come through, even though it's been repurposed for new uses. Feels like a casino in my opinion. Just think we could have had better... but it sure beats it being vacant.
  15. I always hated BP as a kid because it blocked the view of the Terminal Tower coming into the City from the east on 90.
  16. In LA, it's one fifth of NEW residential construction that has occurred in downtown since 1999. I wouldn't be surprised if the same, if not more we're true for Cleveland.
  17. Check out this gem. Fairfield Avenue & West 11th in Tremont, 1960. Building next to the one on the corner is Southside.
  18. Would be nice to eventually fill in that lot where the Hippodrome was on Euclid, and then on the Prospect side. That would eliminate almost every empty lot between Public Square to Playhouse Square in the currently defined density of Downtown (only the lot across from Calfee, the one next to the Union Club and a few small one would remain). Hey Stark, pick all those up too...
  19. If Ohio Bell is 365', the new tower on Huron is closer to 450' as shown.
  20. That last photo looks like the Terminal Tower is flying the Japanese flag.
  21. I heard the Manziel rumor too.
  22. Very cool KJP. Here's the website. http://www.bcoolidge.com/Trains%20NYC%20Page.htm
  23. Found some nice images while doing some internet searches...
