Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
To me, the prestige means nothing. The simple question is, in a city like Cleveland (or Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Detroit, really almost anywhere) do you want an NFL team to root for locally or not? If that’s not important to the city/county voters, they’ll vote down tax increases and the team leaves. If it is important to voters, they’ll support tax increases and pay for a stadium. Obviously the math is different for cities like NYC and for some reason Dallas, but even LA has lost NFL teams because it didn’t support new stadiums in the past. Put up or shut up.

Cesar Pelli (Key Tower architect) spoke of the “living room-like feel” Public Square will have with Society Tower and Ameritrust completed in the early 90’s. Obviously a bit delayed, and SW shifted one block west, but it seems like we’ll finally get that environment.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Why do you think the general fund has been increasing over the years? In addition to the higher tax rate, the answer is income tax collections from new residents over the last 15-20 years who live in the homes/apartments built with the incentives the city is giving for projects that wouldn’t happen otherwise. The revisions in City incentives, which are political decisions disconnected from sound financial ones, will hurt the general fund and in turn the residents of the city. Current residents may not care for all the new development, but it’s the only thing keeping the lights on.

I'm going to bet there's a Wal-Mart just off the nearest freeway that emptied out every storefront in town.

Yeah, an incredible trove of images, seemingly out of nowhere. The steel mill pics, among others, are fascinating and views I forgot I knew (J&L mill from I-77, Worsted Mills).

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Cut and paste design from other terrible projects. No regard for an actual design process. Can’t even be bothered to take renderings out of Sketchup. Glad they’re filling in vacant lots but MyPlace is just as bad as Geis in my opinion. Lorain Ave deserves better.
