  1. The PG article even utilized current photos of the city. I couldn’t imagine the PD paying the $1,000 it likely cost to send a drone up to get fresh pics for a story.
  2. At least we’ll never have to use the name nuCLEus again, that’s a positive.
  3. Neither are anything that interesting, but the NYC building is much better from a design standpoint, but that's just me.
  4. A full length mirror which would make her look fat…
  5. ^^To an extent this is true, however, a skilled designer can often turn lemons to lemonade if the developer has any ambition at all.
  6. Part of the problem is that there are so many things on these agendas that probably shouldn’t be, and they’re typically in the front. I get the fact that the commission doesn’t want to make someone there to present a wall mural (there are way too many of these every single agenda by the way) or a lot split wait three hours to be heard, but slowing down projects that are tens of millions of dollars is the victim of losing quorum?
  7. Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t commission members paid to be on Planning Commission? Thought I remembered something like $7k a year.
  8. Geis wants low risk, easily manageable developments with minimal design standards that their inept in-house designers can execute. Great for investors, not so great for the urban fabric. Their projects have created dead pedestrian zones in every instance other than the Breuer Tower (the 9). Pedestrian experience is simply not a priority. For whatever reason Near West Design Review rolled over for this project. Doesn’t seem like the block club or CDC will, though I question their arguments (likely an anti density view).
  9. Density is the solution, not the problem.
  10. A cheap, developer special on one the of best pieces of property in the City. What a shame.
  11. You should see the renderings for this Abbey Block mess….
  12. Sometimes if the agenda is large Planning will reach out to applicants to see if they mind being bumped. This likely happened this week. A lot of the items don't require much conversation on this agenda, but yes it is large
  13. Hard to say if the developer would win since Planning Commission needs to approve the townhome use in a two-family district, even if it meets every letter of the townhouse code.
  14. ^^Nice article KJP. There’s certainly a noticeable uptick in potential new projects west of W65th in recent months, great news for the near west side.
  15. I'd say Fairfax's "downtown" used to be E105th and Euclid before it was yanked from all of us. Buckeye's "downtown would certainly be on Buckeye between MLK and E130th
  16. ^Nice, getting a local retail/market hub out of the hands of terrible owners. Wish he had enough sense to do it for the West Side Market.
  17. Man, this site (Scranton Peninsula) is inevitably going to be a missed opportunity. However, whatever it takes to keep building new units in this City I’m all for it I guess. We need another 100k within a 1 mile radius.
  18. Make sure you get that street facing surface parking into the design…
  19. Worst project in Cleveland. Design-wise, a complete joke for such a prominent location.
  20. It never ceases to amaze me how much density and how many mid-sized apartment buildings we've lost.
  21. Could be smoke I guess.
  22. I found this image in an article about Winston Willis. A tragic story in the end of course, but does anyone have an idea of where this picture was taken from? Huge trees in the background, gritty street scene in the foreground.
  23. Great to hear Nighttown is returning. There’s no way that building is 150 years old, as the article mentions.
