  1. Well done "Poorest Large City in America Not Based on Cost of Living or City Square Miles."

Looks like I confused Regina Brett with Connie Schultz in my rant. Oh well.

Here's what I posted on their little blog thing. I feel a bit better after posting it: Getting a perception of Cleveland from suburban blowhards like Dick Feagler and Connie Schultz from the Plain Dealer is a bad move by whoever this guy is that wrote this article. Feagler is a 70 year old former Cleveland resident who last lived in the city 50 years ago and complains that he can't get free and convenient parking in the middle of the city for his Buick Regal, and Schultz is a soccer mom that tries to describe what ails the inner city black population from the comfort of her plastic clad exurb nightmare. These two have absolutely no credibility with any city dweller in Cleveland and are completely out of touch with the realities and progress our gritty urban landscape has made in recent years. FYI, there's more than $2,000,000,000 under construction or on the immediate drawing board in the city. As for the guy who said there is absolutely nothing around Jacob's Field, dude, walk towards the skyline not the freeway ramps. There's sojmething like 50 bars/clubs/restaurants in 1/2 square mile. Oh yeah, Raw Fisher? Very clever.
  4. That got a laugh out of me. Hard to do after reading that Washington Post article.
  5. It could only be worse if Volpe was feeding a panhandling Dick Feagler.

I don't even know what to say to these people. I want to spit on the floor right now.
  7. two old grey haired men? Well at least they weren't designed by volpe Volpe does design the equivalent of two gray haired men. Read the story.
  8. One of these would look good at the corner of W6th and St. Clair, http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/08/21/properties/remar.php
  9. Next step: eliminate the mobile soup kitchens on Public Square. Those people piss me off more than anybody.
  10. The comic above the housing ads that the guv posted from Free Times "Big Fat Whale" is consistently the funniest sh!t out there. The illustrations are hilarious.
  11. You guys are early quiters, headed to Bier Markt at 10:00, no dice. Was looking to get in on the tail end of the Cleveland talk. I'm down for the monthy meet.
  12. I have no pictures, but they are placing the signage for Zocalo this afternoon, and I must say, it is tragically crappy looking. Hopefully they get some neon out there to make it a little more interesting.
  13. Cost of future materials sure as hell doesn't affect their position of building a new innerbelt bridge now, and one 50 years from now.
  14. Could be worse. Look at Beacon Place.
  15. Around E89th and Cedar from what I recall.
  16. They were outside the West Side Market on friday afternoon, and I impolitely declined those pencilnecks three different times. Seriously fellas, fully buttoned polo shirts tucked into pleated cotton dockers? Anybody seen these cats?
  17. And those "Road Closed" signs SUCK. Sounds like E4th needs a quick design competition for some signage. Between the road closed signs and those horrible lanterns at either end, there's enough 'tack' in the neighborhood as it is.
  18. I haven't heard much about it after the horrendous presentation given by the Public Land Institute (not sure if that was the organization, I left half way through), although I have been thinking about its location and I have this thought: The Rapid Stop should be moved to Mayfield Road, not stay at E120th or even splitting the difference between the two. Having a multi-modal transfer between Rapid and BRT would have advantages at another location, but here, at basically the end of both forms of transportation, the crossover is virtually useless. You would never get on the Rapid heading west at Windermere and then transfer to the BRT at E120th street (roughly 10 or 15 blocks). And you would never take the BRT east and then transfer to the Rapid to get to Windermere. They both begin and end at the same points; Public Square and Windermere. And the TOD advantages seem greater latching onto the already successful and densly populated Little Italy.
  19. The massing is another one of the "big three" looking for space. Hopefully have something to post on that sooner than later...
  20. And for the record, I can't find any information about this supposed crime anywhere on cleveland.com, and we all know how this would be top headline news if it happened.
  21. ^^I guess your next post will say this would have never happened in Pittsbugh right?
  22. It's disturbing as hell, but it's sweet.
  23. These old 1960's and 70's architects love showing the 80 degree angle view from above to show their supposedly interesting "form parti" when in reality nobody will ever see that view unless you're flying 2000' on a Fox News helicopter.
  24. Jesus, $480,000 a month? 22 months out of that place and you have the $10,000,000 for the new building. Doesn't make much sense to me, but it is Cuyahoga County. Wonder if this has any affect on the United Trust Building rehab.
