Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Charles Gwathmey design for new Cleveland State University Student Center off to a strong start by Steven Litt August 16, 2007 01:30AM Cleveland State University has been saddled for decades with a harsh, defensive, inward-turning campus that treats the city like hostile territory. Now it's about to make its biggest stride yet toward openness, transparency and architectural distinction. A proposed new $50 million student center, designed by New York architect Charles Gwathmey, should give Cleveland State something it has never had -- a strong, assertive, memorable building open to the city and campus on all sides... for more: http://blog.cleveland.com/architecture/2007/08/_cleveland_state_university_ha.html

Feagler: Parking In Dowtown Cleveland
I wanted to reach through the newspaper and smack Feagler when I read this the other day. This guy is totally worthless.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
bar CENTO .... an Enoteca (wine bar) featuring "cento vini" (hundred wines) will specialize in brick-oven traditional and modern style pizzas, Italian cuisine, and a Belgian pub menu to complement the Bier Markt beer portfolio. Chef Jonathan Sawyer, formerly head chef of Michael Symon's Lolita in Tremont, and most recently head chef at Symon's Parea in Manhattan, will be bringing his talents to bar CENTO and the Bier Markt. Look for an official announcement in the press soon........

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
A lakefront site would be an awful waste. Put it in the middle of the city in an existing large space and call it a day. I wonder if they've considered turning the existing convention center into the MM and then building a new CC across the Mall and towards the railroad tracks. Is that a ridiculous thought?

Historic Bedford depot (1852) to be torn down
Anyone have pictures of this one? I thought this was gone a long time ago. I've seen phots of it, but I would have tried to go see it if were still around. Damn.

Not neccessarily.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I thought the Higbee space was a shoe-in. It's got to be downtown, otherwise what the hell is the point of building a new convention center?

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
^What a monstrosity. Would have blocked a lot of Terminal Tower views in the process.

Kimo's is still there.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
Yeah, that thing sucks. And you're going to see shades of the glazing part as well once people move in there. That direct sun in the afternoon is going to make that place boil.

Cleveland: Mayor Frank Jackson
Dick Feagler really pisses me off with his ex-urb knowledge of the current city. That means inaccurate knowledge.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Those beat up pillars are sweet.

Cleveland-area flooding pics (Aug. 7, 2007 storm)
I can only hope there was enough water damage to the new W117th stop. Tear that bag of ass down and get something worthy of an urban Rapid station.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Person, I don't thinnk anyone asked what would happen in Pittsburgh with this situation, and I don't think anyone really gives a single damn.

What a piece of sh&t. Could have at least defined the triangular site.

Cleveland: Tyler Village
Sigh. Why does anyone select City Architecture for anything? The contrast of new and old opens up a lot of opportunities for design, but it is horribly executed from what I can see from the "rendering." It looks more art deco than anything. Hardly contemporary.

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
I like the fact that they have to keep things out of their windows because some Cleveland Freak might see something and post it on the internet. And so should Stark...

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
This thread gets me more excited than any other when good news comes out.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Yeah, Wunder Bar hasn't started out on the right foot. They advertised last night as the opening with complimentary drinks and food, yet when people I know showed up, they said it was a mistake and that it was friends and family night. I saw the ad here on UO and on coolcleveland.com. Not sure what the deal is. Still though, looks like a cool spot.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Half joking, but capping the innerbelt to connect downtown to these neighborhoods that these degenerates come from is looking less appealing by the day.

Your Daily Commute
^^What a silly article. One of the people lives on Africa Drive? Is South America Boulevard two blocks down? Pickup up the 20, 22, 25, 35, or 79 at Bridge Avenue and W25th to East 9th and Superior or Prospect. With all those choices through Ohio City, I'm never out there more than 5 minutes waiting. 8 minute commute. Nice. "He's all alone as he turns onto Westlake Lee Road and hears the welcome crunch of the Dodge Dakota's tires on the gravel of his driveway." ^What a nightmare.

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
"I don't think the county has $900,000 to give away." Don't worry they're all ready throwing away $40,000,000, what's another $900,000?

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Odd observation, but has anyone else noticed that the top part of every single lightpole along the Euclid Corridor is slightly off kilter? Visually line it up with the (hopefully) right angled side of a building, and you'll see it's not straight.

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
^No better use for the land old timer? Think again.
