Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
To me, in addition to being just about the laziest design of the year, the W14th project is too SMALL in scale relative to its surroundings (cars speeding down a wide portion of W14th, the freeway, Grace Hospital across the street.

Cleveland: Zoning Discussion
Litt was clearly leaning towards the anti townhouse development crowd. When someone is on the same side of the discussion as David Ellison they need to reevaluate their position.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
The wouldn’t expect any thing better from Rick Maron (developer of this project W14th project). For some reason he’s jumped back into developing small scale projects around the City. The results on the east side have been equally awful, and honestly I think he should be embarrassed to have his name associated with this dreck. And Tykaps, while I am associated with the Fulton House project and may not be the most objective commentator, you’re way off base comparing FH to the W14th development. I can tell you without question that FH was designed with nothing but care and an interest of thoughtfully adding to the eclectic nature of Ohio City. The W14th project is simply a money grab through cheap construction by an over the hill developer. The fact you can’t tell the difference is surprising.

FYI, Fulton House is on the Landmarks agenda for this week.

Thanks for the rundown and confirmation that light rail cars aren’t the problem, it’s Breda.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Good question Pugu. The blue and green line trains are a truly inferior experience relative to the smooth ride of the red line heavy rail trains. I don’t understand why light rail is the future direction. Light rail seems more appropriate for service that is integral at street level. Heavy for below grade/off street. KJP, tell me I’m misinformed.

Until proponents of these new developments speak up at the actual meetings the NIMBY’s will continue to stifle Ohio City. Simple as that.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
This is an improvement and a unique place, I hope it ends up being more than another vacuous park. Cleveland Plays used to have several hundred young professionals utilizing the park and supporting the Tremont bars on Saturday mornings before this renovation started (I'm sure there are opinions about that), but it certainly had a positive financial impact on the neighborhood and introduced people to City living that may not have otherwise interacted with it on a regular basis.

X, we’ve been agreeing on a lot of things lately. What a world...

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
Interesting ideas on the musical chairs to make this happen. I am however uninterested in additional large scale green spaces downtown. The ones we have are already under utilized.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
The only thing I can imagine is that they would build this paint museum with the intent of eventually (25 years) building another tower on Public Square for expansion. From a master plan perspective I suppose it makes sense to have the larger cluster of land developed first, then spreading to the smaller parcel (Public Square). If this was true I would hope they explain it when conceptual design is presented to the public.

In general I'm baffled by the intense secrecy of this project from the SW side of things. In addition, the clearly obtuse perspective related to not building the HQ tower on Public Square doesn't make much sense. Isn't this phase of a company the "fun" of being a Fortune 500 company spending millions of dollars in the City you've grown within for over one hundred years? It reminds me of the General Growth HQ in Chicago. Rumor has it the owners were so financially set they didn't mind the clearly "non-highest and best use" nature of their 4-story, Chicago River fronting, Wacker address. They thought of its under utilized nature as a badge of honor. In the long run I hope things work out better for SW on the square than GGP on the Chicago River (GGP was one of the largest bankruptcies in US history in 2009). https://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20170413/CRED03/170419940/bank-of-america-to-move-to-ggp-site-on-wacker-drive

So you haven’t seen a market study, but in your expert opinion the market is saturated. Makes sense.

A good method of estimating height is to see where the lake horizon (the vanishing point in perspective) hits downtown buildings. To me this view looks to be about 12 stories up.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Utilizing Facebook as a platform by CDC’s or the neighborhood block clubs to obtain community input is perhaps the worst thing that happened to the City process in the last 5-10 years.

Can’t imagine what the anti development freaks on the Ohio City Facebook/Courbanize site will say about this.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Interestingly the Dexter, and its faux historicism, is exactly what the Secretary of the Interior discourages from an aesthetic perspective in a landmark district. Same for the other historic knock offs on Clinton.

You're right, my mistake. I can say with a fair amount of certainty, however, that the Smith & W20th project isn't happening in that form.

towards the bottom of the Maison page it has an Auburn Ave address, looks like the parking lot across from Lava Lounge.
