  1. I drive by locale a couple times a week! It looked pretty rough! I don't know what may have sold the city for demoing the house, but I will say it was no big loss (architecturally speaking). As far as Westwood Concern, this group is one of the only organizations that are holding people accountable for there property. I am a home owner where Westwood, Cheviot, and Bridgetown come together. I am very proud that in Green Twp. last year, they passed a Property Maintenance Code which can site people or absentee landlords for neglecting there property. IF YOU WANT TO LIVE LIKE THIS, GET THE HELL OUT OF OUR TOWN. WE DON'T WANT IT IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND WE WON'T ALLOW IT!!!!!!!! Go on out to Indy or KY. Great JOB Westwood Concern!

    Good Point on the trees!
  3. This is so ignorant! A waste of time!
  4. I think it's aimed more at people who could possibly be sleeping IF a fire were to occur. Whatever your opinion is, MOST COULD AGREE that it doesn't pose all that much of a danger if it were to just give DAILY CRUISES in different cities. Don't think is has to be banned from touring. I saw it at Tall Stacks last Oct and it made quite an impression as she literally let everyone know that she had arrived!
  5. "Newport is kicking Cincinnati's ass" It's amazing that people can't see that they are one in the same. They will either rise or die together.
  6. It will kick ars, and if they saturate the market like it looks as if they will, Hopefully it will keep prices and rents on a more middle class level and not the overly ridiculous half mill and higher bullcrap that everyone is trending with. HOPEFULLY!
  7. I agree BlackBengal, diversity in buildings is a good thing most of the time. The riverfront needs to have a modern feel and approach to help appeal even more to the younger (and empty nester) type. I'm confidant they will do the right thing as long as they stay away from surface lots. KEEP IT PEDESTRIAN FREINDLY!
  8. For some reason I am/was under the impression they wanted to start end of this year.
  9. Talking with locals, there is one resounding belief. We have had over 10 years of commission, council, and whatever kind of meetings and approval processes you can throw at one project. Many people are aware of the project but keep hearing similar statements repetitively over and over. NOW, we are going to double the size of something that we have been talking about building for what 11 years. Not trying to be negative, I am more pumped to see this thing get off the ground as the next Nati enthusiast, but until they break ground and start moving some dirt around, maybe pour some concrete here and there, public perseption will not change. Anyway, I know its a process but locals are starting to wear off on me this week. So, until the Sep. 12 meeting (P.S. - I am beginning to think that we may have a secret battle between Butler and his boys across the river and Dawson/Carter as to who can break ground first!) Just my opinion but I think Ovation and the Banks are going to be NECESSARY COMPETITORS throughout the construction process. Totally different projects, I know, but they are very similar in many ways as well. I believe they will be one upping each other once one starts turning some dirt. They are both sitting idle with a empty urban field if you will, just waiting on the green light. GO 30 STORIES!!! This may get interesting! in a good way! Both projects are going to catapult the entire river valley infill revolution. IMO
  10. Ha, hey whatever it takes!
  11. Gotta get me one of those T-shirts!!
  12. Curious PhattyNati, Why didn't USS Cincy make it here? What was the legitimate reasons?
  13. Incredible Photo! I can't remember it looking like that, although I was 1 yr old if that is from '81.
  14. Some jarheads told me they stand in Thailand too. Only when you get your ding-a-ling out, it is't to pee! Use your imagination. Pretty sure prostituting is a legit profession.
  15. Is that snow or all of them stars you can see from downtown? :drunk:
  16. I guess I'll refresh everyone's memory as to where this urinal debate began. We have gone from Gary's Westsider's Restrooms to Hong Kong's The Felix. :? Howdy ho! All we need now are some electric fence stories. Somebody needs to start a new thread if this is to continue! (Shaking head in disbelief)
  17. Without a doubt! Even near the new Central Riverfront in correlation with the Roebling Bridge.
  18. I started a thread in Architecture and Preservation about this but their is a chance the Delta Queen may be Decommissioned in the coming year. I hate to see it but I would rather see her find a permanant home down near this park rather than at an Evansville cove.
  19. This sounds like a boat load of crap on the part of the gov't BUT if this beatiful boat has to be decommisioned, I can't think of any better place than "THE PORT OF CINCINNATI OHIO". This belongs here more than any submarine idea that has been thrown around in the past. Parked right by the Steamboat Memorial near GAB or The Central Riverfront Park. THIS BOAT IS CINCINNATI! WE HAVE TO KEEP ON THIS ONE! Evansville Courier Press Law could moor Delta Queen By John Martin (Contact) Tuesday, August 7, 2007 The Delta Queen steamboat, which makes occasional Ohio River stops in the Evansville area, will end passenger cruises after 2008 unless Congress intervenes. For more than 40 years, the riverboat has been exempt from federal rules prohibiting vessels with predominantly wooden structures from hosting overnight cruises with more than 50 guests.
  20. We can respect that! Please keep us posted though!
  21. I think there will be once they get this rolling. There are so many people teetering on the belief that things really are on their way up, but if they can get ground broken within the next 6 months on the Banks, QCSII, and One River Plaza, throw in the many other cranes going up across the river. You could see 8 or more cranes by next spring in the riverfront area. PEOPLE WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO DENY THAT THE NATI IS CHANGING FOR THE BETTER! Hopefully a domino effect will take place and keep the momentum rolling on to OTR. Triple the friggin density!! Build a Tokyo style Sky- City! Just get some bloody dozer's down there and start moving some dirt around!
