  1. My buddy and I went on the PP bridge climb last summer and our tour guide was the reason the damn thing went out of business. (IMO) Let me set the scene! We are standing on this bridge while he is giving us historical info regarding different Cincinnati landmarks. My buddy and I are the only Nati natives on the bridge at that time. The tour guide was from Wisconsin and only lived here a year. The other tourists were from Cleveland, Chi-town, Toledo, and India. I was fine with his historical facts until we got to the buildings. He claims that the buildings are strategically placed to symbolize a pyramid and that no new buildings are able to be built higher than the Carew per the city of Cincinnati. LMFAO, I replied that QCS was going to be taller than the Carew and that I had never heard anything EVER about a height restriction or a pyramid theory. Yea, made him look like a dumbass. He had never heard of QCS Back to the pyramid thing that some talk of. WTF, I kind of see where people would get that idea, but I don't ever want a buildings design to EVER be based on that theory. This is where our city gets it's uniqueness.
  2. I say crank it up to 55-60. Unrealistic maybe? GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!!!!!!!
  3. How can a whisky six years old whip a man that's 32? :drunk:
  4. I just hope it doesn't get as ugly as the whole stadium debacle! I know we need a jail bad, but I just don't understand why fed or state money is not accessable for established urban areas like the Nati for this type of project. Same goes with BS I-75 bridge. These structures are going to go a long way in helping the economic vitality of this city and state for that matter. Maybe we are too far from C-bus! I wonder if Frankfort would be of any assistance
  5. We need end this discussion about USBank Arena before we give some county official/UO reader an idea and are all paying 8 or 9 cent sales tax next week on something we don't even have a say in! :wtf:
  6. Sorry guys, I think the server might have been a little slow yest and accidentally I posted twice.
  7. I couldn't agree more coolday about the western skyline. That would rock!! I was looking at a couple houses on Maryland and Mt Hope on Fri. and I must confess that I was pretty disappointed with the area around the tower. Growing up on the west side I am proud to claim anything on this side of the QG yard, but many people think this area is in worse shape than OTR can ever claim to have been in(I am including that Warsaw corrider). These are of course opinions from others in that area but, I think the main thing going for the neighborhood within the past year has got to be the community involvement and watch programs going on. Not positive but, I thought I read crime was down in that area last year? Anyone know? This is GREAT news though for Price Hill! I am hoping that a couple large scale redevelopment plans can get the ball at least rolling similar to the way OTR has been going for some years now! I get chills thinking about where OTR and Price Hill could be in 15-20. :shoot: :drunk:

    Interesting, but no thanks!
  9. There probably isn't a snowballs chance in hell of anything in the Banks being under 400k.
  10. I echo Musky on the Discovery (Science) channel Mega Builders program. No matter your opinion about the (several) projects, one has to admit, there are some pretty impressive engineering methods being used in Dubai
  11. Sounds cool, but two concerns would have to be traffic on the many two lane roads in that area (Rybolt, Taylor, Wesselman) and I could do without the condos all together. They are already saturated up and down Harrison Ave. On a traffic side note, Rybolt is going to be getting some heavy attention within the next few years in several different areas.
  12. I don't know the politics between these groups but I do believe this would help stimulate an area that is stagnant in many different areas!
  13. The state of Ohio financed and is constructing the bridge. When complete, it will be turned over to the state of West Virginia as they own the Ohio River (and most of the bridges connecting the two states). I know Ohio doesn't own most of the river, but my understanding of this statement makes it sound as if Ohio built the bridge only to hand it over to WV when complete. Sounds pretty sweet if you are a WV taxpayer. Correct me if I am being ignorant about this.
  14. Wasn't the original estimates in the 40 mil range or am I getting my numbers and projects mixed up? I think asking for a tax increase is a little far fetched. Most people believe a jail is needed but are still feeling burned over the stadiums. I believe those feelings are still pretty strong within the city. Good Luck, but I would start looking into a alternate plan that may include liquidating some real estate that the city and county may have in its possession that is not viable. Maybe start pushing harder for a casino!! Let's take this to C-bus or Washington!! Ideas anyone? I think they need to stay away from the tax issue. Raising taxes will not help in the decreasing population department anyway.
  15. IMO, the work should be given to companies based on where they are from. Let's start with Hamilton County businesses and then work our way out regionally. What do they (NAACP) want to base this on? If the owner of the company is African American or if the company employs Af. Am.'s.????? We could go round and round on this for years! I don't feel we need to go to Cleveland or Columbus to find a minority interest in this project. African Americans are going to benefit with this project just as much as the next CINCINNATIAN. Let's get on with the project and keep the businesses local. The NAACP has the potential to drag this project out longer than it already has and I don't think that is fair to any Cincinnatian---- black, white, red, yellow, fuchsia, mother of pearl, you get the idea!
  16. Appreciate that clarification as well TraderJake!!!
  17. I agree with you all about the Rybolt area. Why are they letting them build such crap down there when they are getting ready to overhaul the entire interstate interchange. I am still not clear what exactly is supposed to be happening with that. All I am hearing is that Rybolt will now exit onto Harrison via the Hearne Rd intersection already in place. What about the entrance to that hillside subdivision? I noticed yesterday they are putting another (what looks to be condo structure) right out on Rybolt. HOW MANY BUILDINGS CAN WE STICK ON THESE HILLS? Where is the Preservation of a Safe Clean Green Township' group on this one?????? Voters made clear in Nov they want Legacy. The cluster%$@# by the interstate is what the township is dropping the ball on. On a side note remember that Green Twp. is one of the few parts of Hamilton County that is sustaining its population. (Maybe even increasing it just a little). Growth and development is to be expected.
  18. I spoke with the landlord from New Plan regarding the buses actually loading and unloading on the WHP property. He assured me that by Nov., they will no longer be allowed on the Plaza's property. I am not against public transportation, however if you have ever walked anywhere near the bus stop in front of Bed Bath and Beyond and TJmaxx........ Well, it is pretty discusting.... Trash all over the ground, carts turned on thier side for temp. seating, you get the picture!!!! Put the bus stop out on Glenway Ave where it belongs. I do hope this mall manager is serious.......Just my opinion though.
  19. Sarcasm Grasscat. I know it will never get that bad here, there are too many infill projects going on. Aren't we close to 300,000 though. (or in the neighborhood of)
  20. Brent Spence Completion 2018 Banks Completion 2020 or later How many think I am way off? And I really want to see this happen before I die.
  21. My comment is this, when it comes to eminent domain within the core (And I know we are talking about KY) ,but it is within the core area of the Cincinnati area!! Most all of the U.S. cities are loosing pop. at rates that to me ,are knee buckling. I know these people call this home but we all have experienced a move of some sort within our lives. You will live, You will get on with your life. These people are getting AT LEAST what the property is worth, and most of the times more. Now I know money is not everything but you live in the deep heartland of the mighty U.S.A. Our cities are shrinking and our suburbs are showing no signs of stopping :whip:. Seems to me that taking these homes by force to try and SAVE the huge American City that we have all grown up in, depended on to survive, and even maybe learned to love, is worth it!!! Anything to reverse the trend we got going now. I do think eminent domain does get abused in this country, but this seems like a no brain-er to me. We are not talking about farmland or suburbs here. I think Cincytucky with a pop, of 1 million + in the valley sounds better than "Cincinnati settled in 1788. Population 150,000" (Obviously futuristic number) Colrain Township Population 61,000 Green Township Population 60,000 and still friggin growing ??? West Chester Who the hell cares! Hamilton County needs to jump on board with this whole Urban Renewal thing too! Well that is all I got right now! Gimme some opinions on this.
  22. Cincykidbc1, I picked up on the same thing today. I will not lie, I know a couple heads :? ,and I don't think they are going to be in the local news anytime soon. They prefer to just hang around there place, and I don't think that is hurting anyone but themselves, if you look at it that way. GO WITH ME FOR A MINUTE ON THIS ONE. IF YOU KEEP THAT FIFTY PERCENT OFF OF THE STREETS, THEN WE WOULD HAVE HAD ALOT LESS HOMICIDES THIS YEAR!!!!!!! OH , AND THIS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A RECORD SETTING YEAR!!!!!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,RIGHT. O.K. it's finals week at my school this week........... I havn't been thinking normally all week ,but this just sounds like it is too friggin simple to fix!!!!! AM I REALLY LOOSING MY MIND???????????????????????/
  23. I especially love the PRICE HILL update!! :shoot:
  24. That is priceless!!!
