Cincinnati: The Great October 2011 Urban Ohio Downtown Tour: Part I
Great shots!! Is the parking garage in photo 57 going to eventually get capped? I noticed they put light poles up which leads me to believe this may come at a later date

^That's what I remember too. Cbus came out of left field and while I wouldn't complain if they did move to downtown Cbus, I highly doubt that happens. I picture suburban Cbus which I believe would seal the fate of Sears moving there to wither away. When I think of Cbus, I think of government and insurance. Cincy seemed the more likely fit due to the strong collection of marketing and branding presence here. Even the fact that some competitors are already based here (Macy's, Kroger) and a pretty big supplier of Kmart (P&G) could be right next door only adds to my confusion as to why Cbus. I guess we have to wait for more details to come out, but I'm feeling pretty uneasy that this ultimately will benefit Ohio and Sears if they move to a suburban or rural setting ANYWHERE in the state. Wasn't it Sears who said their recruiting quality, morale, and productivity decreased after leaving downtown Chitown or was that just people on this site saying that?

Wasn't it John Barret of Western Southern that got this whole ball rolling initially anyway?

^After many visits myself to that city, I couldn't agree more! No loss here. Way to bend over and take it like a champ NC. Good luck ever recouping that 22 million back.......before they move again! We will see if Aguirre becomes a nascart fan now.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
^Agree, I haven't listened to 700 or bought an enquirer in over three years. The constant negativity and lies about the city that they bombard their listeners and readers with is really starting to show in the ratings and sales every year. It says something when a station that "was" as powerful as 700 is now behind a country music station (B105). The sooner these two companies die, the better!! The truth will set you free!

Amazing!! The Inquirer is officially dead to me. How bout we quit posting links because lord knows this site gives them ALOT of hits. They are not going to print anything different than what they've printed within the past half decade. It's obvious they don't want to know any of the FACTS and wouldn't even print it if they actually researched them. They DON'T want the city to thrive, like other cities that have already committed and are well on their way with rail.

Biggest Fears/Concerns For Your City
natininja, while I will agree with most of what you said, I have visions more along the lines of subocincy. The diversity is a good thing but concentrating the poor is an obvious failure wherever it happens. Keep in mind, Price Hill was built around a streetcar. Their were no interstates built to divide the neighborhoods. Their is not a doubt in my mind that a streetcar is what would bring Price Hill back from the brink. Westsiders just have to be a part of it for them to support anything like this. Some of the older grumpy ones, you'll never get through to but I see the westside clammering for a route once OTR is operational. The untapped potential in some of the older neighborhoods is mind blowing especially ones with views from high up on the hills looking into the basin. Most of the housing stock is rock solid well built homes, but unfortunately many are being neglected similar to what happened in OTR. The city could stand to benefit immensely via increased population and tax revenue if their ever was a push to live in sustainable, walkable, first generation burbs such as P-Hill within a 3-5 mile distance from fountain square. Westwood and Price Hill collectively hold 70+ thousand people and has plenty of room to add and renovate to that number. They need help though from the same ills that fell on our beloved OTR. They essentially lack a plan. And I'm not talking about the Incline District. That's a start. They lack a comprehensive plan to repopulate the entire core of the westside of the city like the Warsaw, Glenway, and W 8th business corridors. RE-build the neighborhood around the very thing that built it in the first place. I want a Westside Streetcar!! :)

Governor John Kasich
Report: Kasich using state plane far more than Strickland http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2011/08/03/report-kasich-using-state-plane-far-more-than-strickland/ Gov. John Kasich‘s travels by state plane “shows that he is on pace to quadruple the amount of money that his predecessor, former Gov. Ted Strickland, spent on state planes in his last year in office.”

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Lord knows theirs no such thing as an auto, oil, and sprawl cult out there who believe it costs nothing to keep building more and more roads. The hypocrisies of these vocal opponents to anything rail is astounding. I'm honored to be part of a rail cult, streetcar mafia, or whatever you want to call it. Unlike some, I do care about what we leave to our kids. And we're going to have some pretty pissed off kids if all we leave them is cul-de-sacs.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Is the glass building supposed to be built upon the parcel that 1314 currently resides on? If so, why couldn't they bookend each side of the current 1314 structure with this bush league crap? It might even add to the charachter a little bit by leaving it........And since nobody will miss the current surface lots, it's a win win, right?!?! Just my o-pin-ion Regardless what we think, we can all agree this project is gonna be a game changer for the Q.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Mercer Commons
I agree. Design around them. It can be done and once the stucco is removed and the bay windows replaced, then will you see the true beauty of 1314.
