Kasich 'not optimistic' Ohio will get to repurpose 3-C rail money By Malia Rulon • Enquirer Washington Bureau • December 2, 2010 http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20101202/NEWS0108/12030345/Kasich-not-optimistic-Ohio-will-get-to-repurpose-3-C-rail-money On the plus side, Kasich said he was confident that the state would get the $400 million Race to the Top grant that the state won under outgoing Gov. Ted Strickland. Kasich has said he wants to make changes to the state's education system, and some have voiced concern that his changes would jeopardize the money. Race to the Top Grant??????? For education? Did we get another 400 or is this what he wants to spend it on this week?

Why are young people driving less?
One thing that pisses me off is we build them 5 lanes of highway and all people do is spread out in equal distances away from each other throughout those 5 lanes and then maintain the same speed as everyone else. Slower traffic doesn't move to right except to pass anymore in sprawlville usa. If we enforced these types of laws, maybe that highway would only have to be three lanes wide. I'm looking at you Butler County!

Ohio: Fortune 500 Companies Updates & Discussion
Ouch! A major shakeup within looks eminent now, not to mention the HQ relocation talk. To be continued... Jager leaves Chiquita's board The Enquirer • November 26, 2010 "The company faces declining revenues, deteriorating profits, and a severe drop in its stock price," Jager told the company's other independent directors in the e-mail, which Chiquita shared with the SEC. "I have lost the confidence that we have the strategies and plans that can reverse this situation. Chiquita also lacks the capabilities to address basic operational requirements for a sound business." http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20101126/BIZ01/11270323/Jager-leaves-Chiquita-s-board- edit - This is F1000 My apologies!

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I'm not a huge Keith fan, but I don't think this can hurt. Between the Morlein house, Keith house, and whatever other entertainment venues sign on.......this really could be the building of the regions top entertainment destination for the folks who like to spend money on this. Whether it's gambling, drinking, dining, or arts you will soon find it in Cincy. Hey, We should build a streetcar and connect all these places!

This is mind boggling why Kasich is taking this stance. It's DO or DIE time for Ohio!

Miscellaneous Ohio Political News
So what are your thoughts? Is this something Kasich can actually stop at this stage in the game? Should we begin assembling an army to take on C-bus? What dates would be best to rally? (maybe dates when colleges are on break) Who benefits by not building this? I'm not one who gets fired up much and I haven't followed every detail of this project, but I firmly believe this project is being cherry picked politically. This creates jobs! limitless economic development! sustained ways of living! potential for HSR!....... All for 400 mil seems like a deal to me!!! How much does ODOT spend on highways? How many BILLIONS?

I noticed gas prices hitting $2.99 on the westside on Cincy this morning. Perhaps we may get some help from the oil companies if this continues. I'm in, if we are going to march on C-bus!!!

Frisch’s buys West Side Perkins Posted by lbaverman November 4th, 2010, 4:26 pm http://cincinnati.com/blogs/developingnow/2010/11/04/frischs-buys-west-side-perkins/ “The western side of town is growing phenomenally and our restaurants have been very successful there,” she said. Its closest stores are on Bridgetown Road in Cheviot and Colerain Avenue in White Oak. The North Bend corridor is a key location for restaurateurs, said Andrew Sellet, a retail broker with Cassidy Turley who represented Frisch’s in the deal. “It’s a great spot off the highway in a very good market, and it will only get better with the new hospital,” he said.

Cincinnati: Western Hills: Development and News
I wish em the best, but this location has alot going against it due to its location and lack of reinvestment. They speak of the added bonus of mass parking.......really!?!?! How much of that sea of asphalt is actually needed? Ive never seen this lot even 25% used. Rip it up and just start over. I think the Legacy Place vision would work better here! On a side note, the Western Hills Plaza and the Western Village across the street are now OFFICIALLY 100% OCCUPIED with the addition of a rue21 and Panda Express. That is the first time I have ever been able to say that in my 30 years on this Earth.
