The ARTIMIS traffic system began expanding coverage in July 2008. Nine new cameras are being installed along Interstate 74, between Montana Avenue and Rybolt/Harrison Avenue exits. Before this expansion, the ARTIMIS cameras did not monitor traffic west of Montana Avenue.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
Some friends of mine who work for the Reds say MLB was really impressed with the performance and turnout for the Civil Rights game this weekend. They are already thinking of having it here next year again. We need to finish the Banks and get this streetcar going. A 2012 All Star game is not all that far from reality either. This was a good showing for the city this weekend! Very positive feedback from MLB. I'd love to know how the Freedom Center faired.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I just looked for the video but either missed it or they took it off. I wish I could have been there and seen it all, but it sounds like Dahoney and Mallory got their heads where they need to be right now with this issue and the federal govt. It won't be long....

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
9 and 12 had it last night. This don't need to become an issue right now. Sure this is big news, but until it's out of planning and on the ground, it might be best to stay on the down low.

De-Annexation News & Discussion
When I worked in the Western Hills Plaza, from 1996 - 2006, I can honestly say I was ashamed of the city police responce times for this area. District 3 is huge. 15-20 minutes was/is the norm. I can't tell you how many people I have seen over the years take matters into their own hands and restrain criminals til Cheviot, Ham Cty, or Green Township police show up.

De-Annexation News & Discussion
While I agree with most of you on balkanization issue, I disagree with the Sec 8 issue being why the city would want to let Westwood go. Sure the concentration damage of the past decades is what it is, but I assure you that the majority of the 30k + residents are indeed adding to city coffers through taxes. The areas of trouble and deep decline have taken place in the Harrison Ave Corridor near the McHenry intersection. 70-80% of the neighborhood is still holding strong in my opinion, yet folks who don't get over here much take what they see on the news and associate it with the entire area. That almighty negative Cincy perception. The residents are very vocal over here and many are very dedicated to making sure Westwood doesn't go the path of an East Price Hill.

De-Annexation News & Discussion
I don't believe their is any other neighborhood in the city that feels as disconnected from City Hall as Westwood residents do. (The argument could be made for Price Hill as well though.) We will see if City Hall dismisses this as nothing like they seem to always do.

US Economy: News & Discussion
Your right, I do! I too, live in an older house and enjoy working on my property and I agree that most people I work/friends with moved into these new homes AS their starter homes out of college. Some of them can't even figure their lawnmower out! It will definitely be interesting going forward to see how things shake out. You guys do bring up a very good point about the extreme east & west being at a disadvantage ala jobs, but the number of surplus homes in either direction is actually minor in comparison to the north and south following the interstates. Keep in mind that the #1 reason most of these jobs flocked north were tax abatements. What happens when these expire? How many of these jobs only pay on/at minimum wage? In my endless crusade to figure out what I want to be in life when I grow up, I have turned down many jobs over the years in the Butler Warren area because I refused to move there. My other option of commuting played as a negative as well due to the pay not being able to offset fuel or traffic time costs. I worked in retail before graduating in Civil Engineering and I was shocked when I began looking in 2006 to find jobs only paying 1 or 2 dollars more than my retail job in the areas we've been discussing. I couldn't even dream of a 180K mortgage on MANY of the jobs I interviewed for then. I imagine it's even worse now. I don't mean to take this too far off course or pit one region against the other, but I'd say I am more skeptical now than I have ever been in where Exburbs in this region are heading. I don't think this had been posted here but forgive me if it was. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4331378n
