  1. Great Article!
  2. You'd think it would be a little taller! Talk about one extreme to the other.
  3. You could find some free/cheap parking! And you won't go wrong with Camp Washington. Outside of Bockfest this weekend, Jan to April may be the dullest time to visit although that really depends on your interests. Are you looking for bars, the arts, sports, etc.? http://downtowncincinnati.com/ http://www.cincinnatiusa.com/ If you've never been to Union Terminal, I highly recommend it! Some events for next weekend. St Patty's day parade is one. Just plug in the dates you will be here. http://www.cincinnatiusa.com/DTCALENDAR/calendar.asp

Flyover Interactive Animation http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?Dato=20090306&Kategori=FLASH&Lopenr=303060009&Ref=AR Interactive: Ohio's tallest skyscrapers http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?Dato=20090306&Kategori=FLASH&Lopenr=303070005&Ref=AR Tower will transform skyline Amid global economic skid, high-rise brings jobs, money, prestige By Lisa Bernard-Kuhn • [email protected] • March 6, 2009 http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?Dato=20090306&Kategori=BIZ01&Lopenr=903080301&Ref=AR For now, the downtown corner at Third and Sycamore is a work site 65 feet below ground. But very soon, the top of the new Great American Building at Queen City Square will rise from the enormous hole - eventually becoming the city's tallest building and the first downtown skyscraper in 17 years. "It's like the Super Bowl of construction projects," says Ken Jones, vice president and manager of the local Turner Construction Co. office. The firm is overseeing 500 workers and four cranes that will construct the tower that will spire 660 feet in the air. "We're building the newest, tallest tower in the city amid one of the toughest times we've seen." As businesses shed workers and development deals crumble across the globe, construction of the $322 million Great American tower is creating and keeping jobs, pumping millions of dollars into the region and finishing plans that have been in the works for more than 20 years. When it's completed in 2011, the tower could house up to 6,100 workers - more than any building in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. It also will reshape the downtown demographic as office workers move into the tower and out of existing workspace. Designers insist that the new skyscraper will be the city's crown jewel, adding to Cincinnati's skyline a shining "tiara" modeled after the crowns donned by Princess Diana. At the same time, development of The Banks riverfront project could provide homes, shopping and dining opportunities for the thousands of tower workers. That synergy between projects, city leaders say, promises to bolster efforts to reverse a decades-long notion that Cincinnati is behind the times.

  8. This place looks great!! I made a trip up tonight and the whole plaza parking lot was fuller than I've ever seen it before. Stopped in and talked to management in Staples and they said they are now tied with their Florence store for being the most profitable store in a 5 state region. I was shocked!! Even beating the Kenwood store was surprising to me. And with Target now open, and even that much more foot traffic............... well, things are definitely looking up for the Westside these days!! Now all we need is a streetcar!!! Target symbolizes turnaround at plaza By Kurt Backscheider • [email protected] • March 5, 2009 http://communitypress.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/C2/20090305/NEWS/903050403/ Jim McNulty said the Westwood community has been looking forward to the revitalization of the Western Hills Plaza for quite some time. The wait is over. The new 137,500-square-feet Target store is open, culminating a five-year, $58 million investment in Westwood by Centro Properties Group. ...
  9. The pictures speak for themselves! What depression? Keep em coming!
  10. My buddy at Comair hasn't heard anything yet either!
  11. Watch many of the rural counties loose many of their younger population to the cities over the next decade! Competition for jobs (already) is going to get worse than we have ever seen.
  12. I've heard several references to the first phase under construction near GAB being called the "Mudpit". I'm not being sarcastic either! I like the sound of that. Especially when the actual mudpit disappears...... After that, people will assume it as a baseball reference.
  13. Banks or Bottoms! IMO

  18. Here's a little ray of sunshine! Target to open two local stores Retail chain Target is opening two prototype stores in Greater Cincinnati on March 4, as part of a 27-store opening nationwide. The stores, one in South Lebanon and the other in Western Hills, will employ 150 to 250 each, though the Western Hills store, at 6150 Glenway Ave., is relocating from just down the street. 19. ^Good, that will help!
  20. Yes most are, but I am bringing a few who argue with me about this. They are not totally convinced yet and any exposure this next weekend would definitely be a help. Last year was cool and had alot of streetcar info on the Prohibition tour.
  21. It's sure not generating any dolla bilz in it's current state! What a mess!
  22. The extra eyes couldn't hurt! Even though they'd probably build a couple multistory garages and you probably wouldn't HAVE two step foot on a sidewalk if you didn't want to. I think it would generate some extra foot traffic though. Just depends what kind of businesses would follow them in.
  23. I know!! I know!! It just sucks! It's enough to made me have a pissy afternoon. I mean, it shocked the hell out of me! I had to make sure they weren't getting streets and stories mixed up. It's weird how these incidents seem to happen all at once. Kinda makes it seem like we are in July until you step outside. I've always been under the impression this scum hibernates in the winter.

Fourth St. downtown, will close on April 30. Slow business traffic downtown, the Internet and the recession doomed the institution, said owner Mike White. Other Bankhardt’s in Kenwood, Deerfield Township and Norwood will remain open and are owned by a cousin. “We’ve been at this location since 1935,” White said. “I just couldn’t throw any more money at it. In this economy, I’m lucky to have even sold the building.” Read full article here: http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090302/BIZ01/303020029
