  3. OK likely for Cincinnati passenger rail By Jon Craig • [email protected] • March 2, 2009 http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090302/NEWS0108/903030305 COLUMBUS - A passenger rail line connecting Cincinnati to Dayton, Columbus, Cleveland and possibly Toledo is part of the $7.5 billion state transportation budget that could pass the Ohio House this week. The last time passenger trains operated along the so-called "3-C corridor" - Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland - was 1971. Mayor Mark Mallory supports the rail project, according to his spokesman, Jason Barron. Statewide passenger rail service would complement a separate local proposal by the mayor to resurrect city streetcars using $69 million in federal stimulus money, Barron said. Cincinnati proposes a streetcar system from Downtown to Uptown, the area around the University of Cincinnati and several hospitals.

Gun laws and regs ALWAYS hurt/hinder the responsible owners. Pure and simple! The criminal element will never abide by these laws. CHANGE THE DRUG LAWS IF YOU WANT GUN CRIME TO DECREASE IN URBAN AREAS.
  5. The 2 min video has a brief history of the site! It looks as if every media outlet in Cincy has picked up on this story today. Gambling Supporters Set Sights On Broadway Commons http://www.wcpo.com/news/local/story/Gambling-Supporters-Set-Sights-On-Broadway-Commons/HUtNTWaGfUe5ih8uM4hg3w.cspx
  6. ^Your psycho analyzing this way too much! Leave the 20th century ideology in the past!! We have to crawl before we can walk. This can't start in Walnut Hills or P-Hill. It has to start in the city center and spread outwards from there. Ironically, similar to how sprawl worked. Those two neighborhoods will probably be high on the list once the successes of the first phases are realized.
  7. I hear ya!! I love the streets that are lined with those mature trees. They look incredible.
  8. Broadway.......Broadway.......Broadway.......Broadway.......Broadway.......Broadway.......!!!! New Push For Casinos Could Bring Gambling To Queen City Voters Must Pass Ballot Issue To Allow Gambling In Ohio POSTED: 7:20 pm EST March 1, 2009 UPDATED: 8:42 pm EST March 1, 2009 CINCINNATI -- There’s a new push to bring casino gambling to downtown Cincinnati -- but it will require voters to say yes at the polls. If supporters have their way, the issue will be decided this fall. Developers want to bring a casino in to replace a sea of parking lots on the edge of downtown along Broadway Commons. Under the new plan, Cincinnati would get a casino and so would Columbus, Cleveland and Toledo, Ohio. Supporters said that this constitutional amendment issue should get more support than last election's Issue 6 because more cities are involved. In the last election, the only town involved was Wilmington, Ohio. In another twist, two groups that were on opposite sides in the last election are now working together. This is the fifth attempt since 1990 to bring casino gambling to Ohio, and it represents a second chance for Broadway Commons as well. The area had been considered and rejected as the site for the new Reds stadium before the current site of Great American Ball Park was chosen. 9. Brent Spence may bring in $800M Bridge to take bulk of federal spending By Patrick Crowley • [email protected] • March 2, 2009 http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090302/NEWS0108/903020363/1055/NEWS WASHINGTON - With the Barack Obama administration and the Democratic-controlled Congress spending more than a trillion dollars, can Washington spare a few billion for Northern Kentucky? You never know unless you ask, and that's what about 50 members of the Northern Kentucky Chamber did for two days last week during the business group's annual Washington Fly-In.
  10. The development along those lines in Portland and Seattle is VERY encouraging!!!!! We could use SOOOOOO use this....... because things are about to blow up downtown (in a good way) and this streetcar will only expedite that growth. This really is a no brainer!! Even if the development is half of what P-land and Seattle is experiencing. Great shots Jake, thanks!

  12. Broadway to kick cars to the curb http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-02-26-nystreets_N.htm By Martha T. Moore, USA TODAY NEW YORK — Start singing a lullaby for Broadway. The famous street is being shut down at the crossroads of the world: Times Square. To speed traffic and give pedestrians more elbow room, New York City will close five blocks of Broadway around Times Square to traffic. The famed Great White Way between 42nd and 47th streets will become a pedestrian zone with benches, tables and landscaping. Farther south, two blocks of Broadway at Herald Square, home of Macy's flagship store, also will be closed. For more, click the link

  19. All a matter of opinion. 90% of the time narcotics are involved in that perceived equation as well. I would have to agree with Ram23 about needing to get my own C&C and that this Westwood incident involving C&C worked out in the favor of the community. The way it was intended!

  24. This article expands on the one Randy posted last night, and I am so pissed I wasn't there! Mallory vows to fight for streetcars By Jane Prendergast • [email protected] • February 26, 2009 http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090226/NEWS0108/302260005&s=d&page=2#pluckcomments Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory promised Wednesday night he’ll fight for the controversial $185 million streetcar project, insisting naysayers must not prevail. In his State of the City address the mayor reiterated many of his usual topics – the importance of an accurate 2010 census, the need to continue increasing recycling and the value of the Cincinnati Initiative to Reduce Violence, which officials say has led to a decrease in gang-related killings. His forceful comments about the streetcars drew some of the loudest applause from the crowd of more than 600 in the Duke Energy Convention Center ballroom. “The facts are clear,” he said. “Streetcars must be a part of Cincinnati’s future and we will fight to make it happen.”
