Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
We have been seeing disturbing gang trends in Northside, College Hill, and many other neighborhoods but this one takes the cake!!! These kids are committing racists attacks in one of Cincy's neighborhoods where community involvement may be second to none! Not a good move on their part!! These ages are extremely disturbing and I feel these kids parents or guardians should also be held accountable. On a positive note though, props to the Cincy police on this bust and previous ones (Northside). They have been making their presence known that they aren't going to tolerate this. Cops Warn Residents in Westwood About Gang Last Update: 9:35 am http://www.local12.com/news/local/story/Cops-Warn-Residents-in-Westwood-About-Gang/bsX-SXQ_3EOq-wNq0VOk_A.cspx Video link Officers in Westwood are keeping close tabs on a young and dangerous street gang. Cincinnati Police are telling members of a Westside Community Group that the young teens appear to be targeting only white people. Officers say the teens told them that white people will call the police when they are attacked but they believe African-Americans might return with their friends and retaliate.

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
Cincinnati beer brewery expands, despite recession Posted: Feb 23, 2009 08:47 AM EST Updated: Feb 23, 2009 08:47 AM EST http://www.fox19.com/Global/story.asp?S=9888399 CINCINNATI (AP) - Spending may be down during an economic slump, but people are still shelling out cash for a cold bottle of craft beer. Demand outstripped production pace at Mount Carmel Brewing Company in Cincinnati, which sold 1,000 barrels last year and expects to sell about 3,000 barrels in 2010. The company sells beer in bulk to retailers at wholesale prices. The company, founded in 2004, had given up selling craft beer in large growlers, which were jugs of beer bought for parties. They decided to sell six-packs of 12-ounce bottles for $8.99.

Ohio's State Stimulus Plan
2 things. 1.) I hope that we DO build a Maglev somewhere in this country, even if it is out west. We are already behind the curve on this one and building one will definitely prove it's worth. The LV/LA corridor is a heavily traveled one and will be a good first test in this country. Build it! 2.) I have heard some of you comment on a possible Longworth Hall junction for the 3C corridor. While I am all for the project, why wouldn't they be able to leave it in the Terminal again? Is the congestion at Queensgate the biggest obstacle? Moving some tracks around and even designating at least one line for passenger rail (in that huge yard) seems like a pretty reasonable request that shouldn't cost all that much or take anything away from the freight traffic. IMHO, of course. EX: http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCP&cp=39.109659~-84.539355&style=h&lvl=17&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=35218914&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1

I wish they would allow more local bands when the weather is nicer. Something to attract a small crowd, yet allow pedestrian traffic still. It would add so much more life to the entire thing.

Cincinnati: Does Covedale Really Exist?
Covedale welcomes old house people http://communitypress.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/C2/20090220/VAV02/902200348/ "The large array of brand-new homes in Covedale is a treat to the eye - the architects have produced innumerable residents of exquisite beauty. There are dainty little bungalows, charming houses of medium size, many in the English type of architecture and a few elaborate and magnificent homes, like beautiful castles in a fairyland of formal gardens." - Cincinnati Times Star, Aug. 19, 1930. This quote describes the area of Covedale that is today the garden district. It is a clue to understanding the origin of the west side's unassuming nature and culture of inclusiveness. The broad range of housing types and price levels brings people of diverse ages and incomes into daily interaction, strengthening the personal and civic bonds essential to an authentic community. Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
^^WTF????????? Are you for real? We are officially going to start going backwards in this city if led by this "supposed" leader and his personal agenda and ideology!! Explain to me again WHY this wouldn't benefit the half black population? What percentage of that population rides mass transit now? How does a streetcar, all of the sudden signalize a racist move on the city's behalf? The oppositions arguments are SOOOOOO weak!!! I have an entire office of suburbanites in Evendale laughing about this right now! I mean seriously, coal, sewers, more busses (trolleys), painted lines, and a racist city government comprised of black leaders? I am just dying to hear what's next!

Cincinnati: Madisonville: Development and News
Project Moves Ahead Without Developer Local 12 has learned a major development in one local community is moving ahead, even though the primary developer has pulled out of the deal. The 85 million dollar "Midtown Crossings at Madisonville" development was announced in June, but recently the developer, Bear Creek, disappeared from the deal. Local 12's Rich Jaffe says while Bear Creek may be in trouble, Madisonville is moving ahead. The plan to develop the old Newtone site at Madison and Redbank, hadn't even gotten off the ground far enough to fly the colors of Bear Creek Capital before Bear Creek pulled out of the deal.
