  2. That site was provided by the Enquirer article. I am completely lost as to which parcels are in question. All I can say is we are at the right interstate exit!!
  3. I thought the traffic problem was going to be addressed in the near future. The locale is on the opposite side of North Bend than I would've thought too. This is the site! http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=115141668059251498070.000461b4c02560b95ad7e&ll=39.170662,-84.592152&spn=0.053899,0.106258&z=13

  5. Main Street projects under way By Lisa Bernard-Kuhn • [email protected] • January 30, 2009 http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090130/BIZ01/301300023 Work is under way on three Main Street buildings that Over-the-Rhine-based developer Urban Sites plans to transform into market rate apartments and street-level storefronts. In late December, Urban Sites purchased seven buildings from Mercy Housing Partners for roughly $355,000, according to Hamilton County Auditor records. The developer said renovations are under way now at 1307, 1329 and 1415 Main St. for 14 apartments and three retail spaces. “We’re moving very aggressively to find stakeholder tenants who are really willing to take over what we think are eclectic, urban retail spaces,” said Greg Olson. chief operating officer at Urban Sites. The apartments, he said, are expected to be ready over the next two months and will rent from $425 to $900 a month. The firm is working on a plan for the remaining buildings, which are at 1207 and 1209 Clay St., 1301 Main St. and 104 W. Clifton Ave. Olson said they were in “very bad shape” and cosmetic repairs alone would not be enough to restore them. Urban Sites is among four private development firms working with Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. to redevelop properties in Over-the-Rhine’s Gateway Quarter. The firm, which has been redeveloping property in Over-the-Rhine since 1985, has developed more than 50 condos in the Quarter. By 2010 the developer expects to add an additional to 45 renovated residential rental units in the neighborhood, Olson said. “We’re having a lot of success,” he said. “This area is a low-hanging fruit, and we see this as an opportunity to contribute to the arts district and bring back a retail and dining district – something that’s not bar or entertainment centered, but living centered.”

  8. Bus fares going up for commuters Beginning Feb. 1, 2009, cash fares will increase on Metro's Butler County and Warren County routes, the transit company has announced. Fares for Rt. 42X West Chester Express, Rt. 42 West Chester Job Connection, Rt. 62X Fairfield Express, and Rt. 62 Fairfield Job Connection will increase to $3.50 one-way. Those fares currently are $3. Fares for Rt. 71X Kings Island Express and Rt. 72 Kings Island Job Connection will increase to $4.25 one-way; up from $3.75. These routes use the shoulder lane for faster service during traffic jams. The increases are needed because costs are rising for the longer-distance routes, Metro officials say. 9. Retailers want prices lowered Consumer-product companies pushed to roll back By Carol Wolf • Bloomberg News • January 27, 2009 http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090127/BIZ/901270353/1076/BIZ?GID=8AiaFTr0tv0VyPK2FsJEUABZu2oQJa9OjHVIE29U8XE%3D Procter & Gamble Co. and Kimberly-Clark Corp. may have to roll back price increases they pushed through last year as retailers demand cuts on everyday necessities to lure shoppers. Consumer-products makers raised prices last year after the cost of oil and pulp needed to make Huggies diapers, Charmin toilet paper and Kleenex tissues rose to records. Now that those expenses are tumbling, retailers like Wal-Mart Stores Inc. aim to keep suppliers from expanding their profit margins, said Grace Barnett, an analyst with Fitch Ratings in New York. "There's no way Wal-Mart is going to let their suppliers reap significant benefit from lower costs," she said. "As a retailer, you are not having a great time as it is and you've discounted the heck out of yourself just to get traffic in the door." ...

  11. I used to work in this plaza for ten years until 04 and have walked to it for many years of my life. Not once have I ever been harassed walking. Now I saw shoplifting occasionally. When I used to work in the retail world, it was really amusing to me to watch certain groups of people physically seem uncomfortable and intimidated just by being around other different groups of people. No DanB, it is not all white and will never be all white again. It is very diverse with all walks of life and resembles many other parts of the region in that sense of racial dynamics. Some west siders and people who just work over here are still in denial about that fact and still seem shocked when a mugging occurs. 200,000 people live west of the Mill Creek. Of course theirs crime over here, but where isn't it anymore? You can get mugged in Colerain, WestChester, Kenwood, or Mason just as easy these days. If you don't believe that, you need to check yourself! The area around the plaza has more businesses, is better lit at night, and will have even that much more foot traffic by the time Target opens. Not that I am saying this is a model for sprawl, but this is the best this particular plaza has ever looked in my lifetime or the better part of 30 years.
  12. ^ The end of Northglen! Probably the catwalk in question due to it running right through a construction site currently. If they do away with this, it COULD be the decision of the developers of the Glenway Dodge site and not the residents. http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCC&cp=qhrvqp7ydtf7&style=b&lvl=2&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=35109105&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1 This one will never go away!! 14. Oh, Mmmm. Ok. My bad!
  15. I'd have to concur!
  16. Worlds largest indoor nightly Cornhole tourney! Break the lanes down and keep some so u can leave the sign in place. I like the music feature with a dance floor possibly. Christ I dunno! I have tried to think of something WORTH replacing the Bowl, but this is a tough time for any entertainment industry plus the whole credit mess. I would love for the property to stay entertainment oriented instead of being another strip center of restaurant. Hell, I'd rather the township buy it and put a nice park in at very least!

CVG woos Delta, AirTran for new flights By James Pilcher • [email protected] • January 21, 2009 HEBRON - Local airport officials Wednesday stepped up a lobbying campaign with hub tenant Delta Air Lines as well as low-cost airline AirTran in an attempt to lure flights here. The move comes after both carriers have raised the possibility of moving some operations out Atlanta due to potential higher costs there. Kenton County Airport Board chairman Lawson Walker II sent a letter to the top executives of both airlines outlining the positive attributes of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, which was Delta's second-largest hub prior to its merger with Northwest Airlines last fall. "There is a big chance that this is all saber rattling by the airlines in Atlanta, but we're not going to not take the opportunity to remind Delta that we have a lot of room and to remind AirTran that we are still here," Walker said in an interview Wednesday. CVG's flight and passenger traffic are down by about half in the last three years, while the airport's Terminal 1 and Concourse C have all been closed in the last two years. Still, the airport's four runways make it one of the highest-capacity air fields in the Midwest, as it is one of only three U.S. airports that can handle three takeoffs or landings at the same time. It also has a 12,000-foot east-west runway that can handle fully-loaded planes headed for Asia, although no such flights are currently scheduled locally. 19. Well, considering Doc's has been closed for the better part of o 15 or so years, I'd guess my chances are slim to none on redeeming them for that Walkman!
  20. Haha, So your the type thats drives to the gym?
  21. I'd expect nothing less from U!!!
  22. ^ 1) Why would their even be a problem with that? 2) Wouldn't you want to poll people in the actual transportation mode that they are using? All of them: Cars, Bikes, Walkers, Rail (If we had it)? 3) Let me guess here, but you can probably sit on your front porch and not even see a single jogger, walker, or biker for every 1000 cars that pass?
  23. I wouldn't put that philosophy past some of the folk over there! They are still pretty heavily used though!
  24. Haha. Doc holidays!!!! That was the shizzit back before everybody got a Nintendo or Sega. We would ride our bikes up there just to play Rampage everyday all summer long. Not that Glenway is anything close to an entertainment strip, but Custers, Doc Holliday, and WB was our own little playground for those of us that grew up around here. PRICELESS MEMORIES!!! Glenway will never be the same.
  25. Amy, I know it's early in the whole process and you guys have a million things to do and think about, but curious as to if you and Russ have discussed what might become of the iconic sign out front?
