Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
^They are trying to avoid fines from last years West End Blitz (NEP). I assure you, this is nothing to get excited about yet. I'm fairly convinced that the current owners Zada, will not be the ones that see these projects through. (Bloom and Herbele School) http://zadadevelopmentgroup.com/

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
Actually not much at all compared to just a few years back from what longer tenured residents say. Hope not to jinx myself, but other than the typical graffiti here and there I personally haven't seen nor been victim to any type of crime in the 3+ years I've been down here. For what it is worth, more people walk their dogs in this neighborhood than did my last hood. Some friends and I stood out on the front sidewalk/street for a few hours til midnight just shooting the shit after the Reds game Friday night. Last words they said when they were leaving to head home were "Man, surprisingly it's really quiet down here"

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
929 sold in a week and a half. 809 has been on the market for two or so weeks. 1007 for about a month 909 was listed yesterday It'll be interesting to keep an eye on. The potential for 1007 Dayton is incredible if someone had some deep pockets to put it back together.

Cincinnati's Homeless Population
I can't help to suspect their is an outside organization supplying these people with tents and guiding them where to place them for political reasons or to advance an agenda. You very rarely seen these before and now they are cropping up in the most noticeable places. There are now two tents on Findlay St under I-75. Conveniently, this is the exit a lot of suburbanites from Southbound 75 take to go towards Findlay Market

^A bunch of West End streets were done last year in the manner Jake speaks of. See Baymiller and Freeman. The streets were in better shape prior to the shoddy repaving job they did.

Cincinnati: Western Hills: Development and News
I went to the batting cage that used to be located there when I was a kid, and back when the railroad overpass still stood. The batting cage was built into the hill and had two levels, from what I recall. Actually I think there was an indoor soccer field on the "ground" level and then the batting cages were on the higher level on the hill. The loss of the rail ROW was a disaster for the west side. If that had been made into a nice bike trail back in the late 80s I think we'd really be talking about a different place. The loss of the crazy bridge with the pillars in the street and the Wagon Wheel bar for what is now a completely generic intersection...gah. Remember it all very well.

Cincinnati: Western Hills: Development and News
Since this thread has been bumped I might as well fill you guys in on some rather dull yet news worthy updates for this side of town for those that don't get over this way. - A Waffle House is now open on Glenway Ave near Midway Ave - New Stand alone Starbucks is being built where the old car wash was on Glenway across from Glen Crossing Way. - Applebees, Sears, and Toys R Us are now all closed to nobody's surprise. - Brand spanking new gigantic UDF's are now open Westwood Northern Blvd & North Bend as well as Harrison Ave & Wesselman - New stand alone Panera now open on Harrison Ave near Valley Ridge Rd - New McAllisters being built on Harrison Ave across from Lowe's - New Kroger (possibly a Marketplace) has broken ground next to the current Dent Kroger. Haven't been able to confirm if it's been scaled back from original Marketplace plans - These three homes and one business on Race Rd have now been demolished and they are in the process of grading the property. https://goo.gl/maps/3e641Z76YiQ2 - Keystone Mac Shack is coming to the former Tom & Chee on Harrison Ave - Heard a rumor that the old motel by Sakura near I-74 has now been demolished https://goo.gl/maps/TPP41aPcqhk

Noticed some pretty heavy duty demolition equipment parked next to Lunkenheimers yesterday. Anyone aware if this equipment is intended for that specific building or others in the area?

These are good neighborhoods too but the only drawback is they lack walkable NBD such as the Westwood Town Hall area or Cheviot for that matter.

That area has always been pretty solid with close knit neighbors even in the darkest days for Westwood. With all the businesses opening in the past year or two it's only gotten stronger. I'd advise making a couple trips to the area yourself for beer at Westside Brewery or coffee at Muse. See what kind of feel you get from the experience. They have pretty many events now a days in the summer on the Town Hall property, plus a rather big and still growing Christmas tree event in the winter. In regards to safety, the two biggest crime areas in Westwood (at least last time I checked) were around the McHenry - Harrison Ave area and certain spots of Montana towards I-74. In saying that though even these areas are much better than they have been in the past and I consider them as improving.

They've been sitting on the land for over a decade. If the land is so valuable why hasn't anything been built on it? Look at the market forces over the past decade (Great Recession and all), plus the Banks possibly took some wind out of their sails as well. The future is bright for the Ovation site going forward. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2018/01/11/big-projects-in-cincinnati-dayton-at-the-forefront.html As far as FC goes , it's looking more and more like major league sports is again going to return to the West End.

...how would that even work and why, out of all the benefits and tangible things the club could provide, would this be one of them? Last I heard, the church was becoming a rock climbing place? Did that fall through? Also, why would FCC have to be on the hook for redeveloping these properties? Pretty sure the Fiirst German church is still going to be the climbing gym Cincinnati Rocks though they were having issues with the parking requirements a few months back so i hope it is still a go. I wonder if those drafting this list dont know work is underway and were just dragging out wishes from previous years to toss into the wish pile. They have put scaffolding up on the entire north side of the church off Hulbert Ave as of late.

This area is buzzing within the past year or two and doesn't show signs of letting up. If you haven't checked Westside Brewery out, I'd highly recommend it! That is now the only house left on the south side of Charlotte between Lynn and Baymiller. I was told once that the Pastor of one of those churches was buying up all the property he could and demoing the buildings for some future mega church. Not sure how true that is, but that block is nearly gone. Update: Guess it's not speculation http://www.brightstarcc.org/gallery-items/slide-1-concept-design/
