  1. ^Dude, Hamilton County isn't doing ANYTHING! The city is the only one trying to get ANY sort of rail started.
  2. It will be interesting to see if buisiness stays strong or increases at Stumps (13 lanes) or Glenmore Bowl (maybe 6-7 lanes)for that matter.
  3. Western Bowl to close By Carrie Whitaker • [email protected] • January 18, 2009 http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090118/NEWS01/901180423 GREEN TWP. -- It appears the 52nd year at Western Bowl will be its last. The owners of Western Bowl have decided to close the West Side mainstay May 1, confirmed employee Jason Vandermark, who has spent a decade working at the bowling alley. On a "sort of" busy Saturday night, Vandermark said the economy, the smoking ban and a lagging interest in the sport are to blame.
  4. Is this your best arguement randy? I'd say being within 10% is pretty close! That's a pretty strong argument in my opinion!
  5. Don't you live in West Chester or some northern neighborhood? The last people we are building this for are the Cunninghams of Kenwood or the people who don't pay taxes in the city. If you work in the city and commute to any of these neighborhoods then I assume you sit in traffic on a regular basis on 71 or 75. How could anyone deny that we need to get the ball rolling on transit OTHER than the MONEY PITS we call the automobile?
  6. Banks, Broadway, Banks ,Broadway.................................
  7. Holy Crap! I'm suddenly in the market.
  8. ^It's called evolving towards demand in current market conditions! Many of Phase I (possible)successes will dictate what will be priority by the time III and IV are rising. They should have a pretty good mix, but the market will ultimately dictate it. FYI - not saying I agree or disagree, but keep an eye on the new gambling initiative being discussed. It is still in it's infancy, but it directs placement of casinos towards the 3 C's and not in the middle of a cornfield. A Cincy location is already being thrown around with alot of support for it being on the river or Broadway. With Penn Gaming (Argosy owners) doing a 180 and all of the sudden supporting a Cincy location sounds kinda fishy to me, but I like the thought of all sorts of entertainment concentrated in the core. I just hope they don't loose focus on the Residential factor!!! OTR and CBD have held strong through this mess we're in and with a little luck it could really take off and spread to surrounding areas with positive results. (Ahem, Queensgate/ West End) Hopefully they pack the Banks out as densely as possible!
  9. Party's OVER!!!! Talks fail, Circuit City to liquidate Business Courier of Cincinnati Circuit City Stores Inc. will close its 567 stores and liquidate the merchandise after talks to buy the chain fell through, the company said Friday. The retailer of consumer electronics said last week that it was negotiating a sale with two prospective buyers, and was "optimistic" that a deal would be completed. ...

  11. $5.7M garage contract OK'd for Banks Hamilton County commissioners Wednesday accepted a $5.7 million bid package for construction of The Banks parking garage. The Banks is a nearly $1 billion Cincinnati/Hamilton County mixed-use project under construction on the central Ohio riverfront. 12. They may have hit a snag somewhere in that huge hole, but I thought I saw a drill in the phase four part of the project west of the Freedom Center. They could've run into something there. They've got columns build and look to be forming some decks just to the west of GAB. Hopefully it's nothing major. QCSII, is going to start cooking just as soon as this cold sh!t goes away!!! Not that it's slowing them down by any means.

  15. Elder-Beerman in Hamilton closing Bon-Ton Stores Inc. will close its Elder-Beerman store in Hamilton by mid-March, the retailer said Tuesday. The downtown department store, on High Street, is one of Hamilton’s longtime retail venues. The closing of the 167,900-square-foot store will eliminate about 75 jobs, Bon-Ton said in a news release. “The company continually reviews the performance of its assets, and following a review of the Hamilton location, we made the decision to close the store,” said Bud Bergen, president and CEO of York, Pa.-based Bon-Ton. 16. Man, Glenway Crossing is taking a beating with it's fourth major tenant in as many months! More bad news for Springdale and even the ALMIGHTY Kenwood area looks to be loosing in this deal. Cost Plus to shutter Cincinnati store Cost Plus Inc. will close 26 stores, including three in Greater Cincinnati, and lay off workers from stores, warehouses and its head office to save money. The Oakland, Calif. retailer (NASDAQ: CPWM) saw its holiday sales fall — for the nine weeks ended Jan. 3 they were $278.8 million, down from $291.8 million a year earlier — and hopes to save $21 million a year through these closings. But first, Cost Plus will take $2 million in severance costs in the fourth quarter, plus a $4 million impairment charge and $23 million in other charges related to the closed stores. The business expects to raise some $19 million by selling off inventory from those stores. Read full article here: http://cincinnati.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/stories/2009/01/12/daily31.html
  17. What if the fed starts contributing to a streetcar system, and the clueless degenerates at the NAACP get their 6,000 signatures to put it on the ballot in Nov? Do we then loose out on any federal help?
  18. South Fairmount was heavy heavy Italian until the early 70's I guess!! I can remember going to San Antonio Italian Church Festival in the early 80's and it being something out of a God Father scene. The pizza was to die for!!!!
  19. Christ, if I had 10 mill!!!!!!!! Anyone on this site buddies with Lindner?? PLEASE NO HOTEL CONVERSION, ANYWHERE!!! They would gut the vessel entirely.
  20. Wow! Priceless shots fellas. Very nice! I hope this can be salvaged, but it looks pretty beat down.
  21. Mt Harrison???????? Where dat? I'd guess near the Western Hills Viaduct, but that could be considered South Fairmount. (Little Italy)
  22. Ironically, last night I was standing down at GAB and was thinking just how sad it has started to look. This bridge needs some extreme TLC and it does need to be something to make it stand out. While I agree to keep it simple, I like the idea of special event lighting. LED's would make that bridge look off the hook!!!!!!
  23. Great Shots! Wow, their are hills in central Ohio!
  24. ^^Do you think that traditional trends are going to stay the same as the past 50 years? Just like like all of our property values are going to keep rising. The housing issues have brought that into perspective. Everyone will look at it differently though. Cincy is doing pretty good at attracting younger residents and a streetcar will speed that up. IMO, the suburbs have peaked in 95% of the country. They are unsustainable the farther you get from the city centers. All life revolves around oil and thats not a good thing. I personally know more people who grew up in suburbs and ex burbs and have chosen not to live their adult years like their parents driving to the gym. I know Randy and some of the other guys have put this stat on here before, but it sure makes you think! What if oil starts hovering around 3-4 bucks ALL the time? 1950 is the time when streetcars quit running in Cincinnati. Here's the population trends for the Cincinnati region since that time... 1950 2006 Change Cincinnati 503,998 332,458 -34% Balance of Hamilton Co. 219,954 490,138 123% Brown 22,221 44,423 100% Bulter 147,203 354,992 141% Clermont 42,182 192,706 357% Warren 38,505 201,871 424% NKY 225,277 408,783 81% SE Indiana 45,398 77,437 71% Region's Population 1,244,738 2,102,808 69% Cincinnati's % of Region 40% 16% -61%
  25. ^Hahaha! Very good insight. We could be the Disney World of automobiles and traffic jams! The city is going to grow with or without the SC, but it would sure grow faster and denser if we build one. Most American cities will see thier population numbers increase over the next half century.
