Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
oakiehigh replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentA couple cheap chains might be nice too (McDonalds, IHOP, Burger King). A LaRosa's location downtown would also be great...it could be their flagship location. 100 bucks says Larosas is one in line for the two Banks restaurants in front of the Freedom Center.

I got nothing on the Chic-Fil-A!!!! I wonder if the "office supply store" could possibly be Marcus Inc. which is in a horrible locale with the Bigg Lots and Toys R Us strip center. He has survived with Staples and Office Depot (albeit closed in '99) next door for decades. This spot would be a much better location because the current strip center is another one thats empty and dying!!

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
I say it will follow the national unemployment rate and ALL cities in the US will experience this. I'm generally an optimistic type but, there are many people who have lost everything. When you have nothing else to loose, you then start to loose your rationale. Mix that in with the crackheads already running around throughout this country. No Good!!! We'll see!

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Folks, bid day for the garage decks and slabs was only this past Tuesday. It's coming along fine! People just need to be patient! MOST people don't even know what kind of logistics go into a project of this size. They wouldn't know where to begin, yet when they speak about it, they are all of the sudden an expert engineer. %&*@ the media in this town!!! They will NEVER be satisfied with the final product.........even if it is a major success.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Everybody, lets light these comment boards up today!!!!!! I know we all get tired of repeating the same thing over and over, but this is how we can all do our part for the cause. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090106/NEWS01/901060334/1055/NEWS Streetcar opponents propose trolley $9M plan would start earlier, lessen traffic hassles, they say By Barry M. Horstman • [email protected] • January 6, 2009 Opponents of Cincinnati's $185 million proposal to run permanent-track streetcars from downtown to Uptown are urging city leaders to consider a rubber-wheeled trolley system that they contend could provide the same service for a fraction of the cost. The alternative $9 million trolley plan, to be financed largely with private money, also could begin operating sooner and without the disruption of tearing up streets to lay tracks that would either eliminate parking or traffic lanes along the route, according to former Cincinnati City Councilman Charlie Winburn.

Greater Cincinnati Metro (SORTA) and TANK News & Discussion
I am not a fan of this move! However, I will say that this IS probably the least productive route in the current bus system. I grew up here, and it is very rare to see people waiting at any of the stops. Most of the buses with ANY people on them are passengers that they probably picked up on Glenway before the turnaround. I will say that Glenway NEEDS THIS ROUTE though. Many of the local restaraunts are employers of quite a few riders of the system even though they may not be from the area. This subdivision, albeit big and walkable, lies right on the border of where your standard grid hoods meet your sprawly curvy hoods. AND EVERYBODY DRIVES to get from point A to point B. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=45248&sll=37.926868,-95.712891&sspn=39.910165,79.628906&ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=39.154907,-84.643843&spn=0.010067,0.019441&z=16&iwloc=addr The folks who live here are 97% white and well to do middle class, so all of your stereotypes may apply toward any assumptions as to why people DON'T use public transit. Very interesting events, nonetheless! Are they leaving the routes that use Eyrich and Moonridge????? EDIT: No, they don't use Moonridge or Eyrich. The 21 still goes the length of Glenway through Bridgetown.

Cincinnati: Delhi Pike
Vote expected on Delhi Road project By Heidi Fallon, Cincinnati Enquirer | January 3, 2009 Delhi Township Trustee Mike Davis said businesses and residents will know next week whether the Delhi Road project will go forward. "We'll decide one way or the other at the Wednesday, Jan. 14, meeting," Davis said. Plans have been in the works since last summer to improve the pike. Those plans include eliminating some curb cuts and adding a lane at the Anderson Ferry and Delhi road intersection. The township, via a state grant, received a $1.5 million grant and the county has put up $75,000, leaving the township to commit $300,000. Cincinnati: East Price Hill: Incline Square
Revised plans include $20M first phase for Price Hill Incline site By Dan Monk Senior Staff Reporter Price Hill developers are hoping to break ground March 1 on a $20 million office and residential project at the top of the old Price Hill Incline. It’s intended to be the first phase of the larger Incline Square project, which would result in more than $50 million in new office, restaurant and residential buildings on a roughly 9-acre site near the Queens Tower apartment high-rise. It’s a project that has seen several revisions since its 2005 inception, but investor and Cincinnati City Councilman John Cranley said the latest approach should enable the idea to secure financing. That approach includes initial construction of a 22,500-square-foot office building – roughly half of what’s ultimately planned. The building would be anchored by the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati and its affiliated medical group, Greater Cincinnati Associated Physicians. GCAP originally planned to build its own headquarters, a block away from Queens Tower, but its relocation into the larger office component improves the building’s occupancy rate.
