  1. Interactive: Hopple Street alternatives http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080821/NEWS01/308200096/1168/NEWS While I will agree this interchange needs attention badly, I will say it will be a mess once they begin. It looks like the two alternates take out the city maintenance building off Central.

Big changes for Hopple interchange By Margaret A. McGurk • [email protected] • August 20, 2008 http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080820/NEWS01/308200019 When the Hopple Street interchange with Interstate 75 is rebuilt in a few years, it could look very different from traditional expressway interchanges. The Cincinnati Planning Commission will hear a presentation Friday on two potential new looks for the rebuilt interchange. One of the plans, if it passes technical muster, would use so-called urban roundabouts to handle traffic where Hopple Street, Martin Luther King Drive and Central Parkway converge with traffic onto and off of I-75.
  5. Isn't the first 2-3 floors going to be garages? Residentail units won't start till the 5th floor. Hopefully they do it right and add noise dampening material to the remodel to eliminate the freeway mess. I forget if we ever talked about the noise (if any) at Parker Flats. That would be a similar distance from the freeway give or take 15 feet. Should be cool to see this thing start rising. Props to them for working with the original structure. These projects are pretty sweet to watch progress.

I TRUELY hope the Search & Rescue is a precautionary measure and that the injuries were minor. That said, shoddy engineering and/or construction is not looked upon lightly in this country. You can expect to be seeing more about this tragedy due to how rarely something like this happens.

  17. Findlay Market Grateful For Generous Grant http://www.wcpo.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=08cdbe71-3f38-47ee-aeef-1dea15689c4d Last Update: 12:52 pm Web produced by: Alyssa Bunn Contributor: Julie O'Neill Photographed by: Jeremy Glover Ohio's oldest public market will continue to thrive and expand for years to come, thanks to a generous grant. Cincinnati's premier marketplace has just won a $100,000 marketing grant that will be matched by $200,000 worth of promotional support from Clear Channel Communications and WEBN. The Barefoot Advertising Agency is offering the non-profit grant in an effort attract more businesses and shoppers to the market. "In 2007 we measured a 23 percent increase in visits to the market and this grant is going to let us continue that work in a much bigger way. We don't have the resources to do main stream conventional advertising and this grant will allow us to do that," says Bob Pickford, CEO of the Corporation for Findlay Market. Findlay Market is the only surviving public market of nine once owned by the City of Cincinnati. It now operates as a non-profit, which allowed it to qualify for this grant.

  19. No no, I hadn't seen this parcel plan and I just thought I'd throw it out there. Sorry, didn't mean to cause any confusion! albeit (QCS II ) instead of Phase 2 I somewhat remember somebody talking about the remaining parcels on that block a few pages back and thought that this gave a pretty good visual.
