  1. City says commerce park will net $400K in wage tax BY LISA BERNARD-KUHN | [email protected] The transformation of the former Queen City Barrel site into a $25 million commerce park is under way. Over the next year, the site - which once was primarily used for the reconditioning of waste drums - will undergo a more than $3.5 million environmental clean-up. The work will pave the way for developers Al. Neyer Inc. and Resurgence Group to build an 18-acre light industrial campus known as MetroWest Commerce Park. A $25 million project, the park will include 250,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehousing and office space spread among four buildings. 2. Might as well start completely over! New, state of the art, and ready to go another 30+ years.
  3. No, I don't think so! This is a seperate property, I believe. I hadn't heard anything about not finishing the Enquirer Building.
  4. ^Word, but groups really need to start putting a little resistance on thier local governments. Especially these Townships. ( No matter how powerless they are on some things) Traffic would be a good excuse since it kills you in more ways than one to just sit in traffic. Light after light after....................$$$$$$$$$$
  5. "authorizes an unprecedented level of funding but does not include basic measures to hold Amtrak accountable to taxpayers for its spending decisions," Is he serious?????? I find this insulting!!! How dare anyone in Washington talk of accountability! I have been Republican my whole life, but I'll be damned if any of them get my vote this year. I am all for going "Rabbit Hash" on these %$&^ers and nominating my Retriever for President. I guarantee he could run this country better than any jacka$$ in there now!! (or this Nov.)
  6. ^Side note regarding retail rent in the area. Prior to the renovations going on at Western Hills Plaza, the old Staples rent was the lowest rent in the company. 1500+ stores, company wide. In that same sentence, the Marathon closed down because they were raising rent, so take that for what it's worth. Obviously rents are going to go up with the 15 million Centro is sticking into it. The retail in the area NEEDS to be updated.
  7. Freedom of speech/press/expression is something that will be extinct by the time I have kids. (If it even exists today)
  8. ^ That is unfortunate. The one thing that bothers me about this development is the fact that their are to be 9 separate buildings (unless revised since Feb.) and ALL of them are going to be Tilt-up or Precast, (similar to Dell) which is nothing aesthetically to look at. Most industrial/warehouses are built using this method, but alot of newer construction within the 75 corridor through Butler/Warren are turning to this for commercial. (due to it's cost and speed of construction.)

  15. NASCAR race may lift area BY KEVIN KELLY | [email protected] http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080609/SPT/806090352 SPARTA - Bottled water and cookies will be set out and a Kentucky Speedway flag hoisted as the Ramada Inn welcomes race teams, sponsors and fans to the track this week. The favorable location and lack of nearby lodging helps the 78-room property sell out months in advance for the speedway's most popular race - the Meijer 300 for NASCAR's second-tier Nationwide Series is Saturday - and stay busy throughout the year as race teams use the track to test their cars.
  16. I thought that was the West side  Haha, Hey, we don't have anything that rivals the UPSCALENESS of Big Butter Jesus, Hustlers stores, and multiple flea markets all within spitting distance from each other. Closest thing we got to that would be a church on every corner, a 20 foot Rooster, and Chevelle's Lingerie show on Thurs. nights
  17. ^Coming to Kenwood soon, I think
  18. To be continued, not a done deal yet, but we bagan discussion at the top of this page.
  19. I would agree, but even my mother (who works for Mercy) says the buildings are very outdated and hinders the two hospitals from competing with Pill Hill. Many serious injuries that happen in the western regions bypass both of these hospitals and that is something they want to change. These hospitals have gotten the reputation of being where the older folks of the area go to pass. I hate seeing these two buildings futures in question, because the exteriors are in good shape and blend in with the residential areas better than most, but the interiors of these buildings were designed 30+ years ago. And as we all know, in the healthcare industry that was the stoneage. I would rather them build somewhere else on the westside rather than LEAVE altogether. I would rather these two buildings be imploded, rather than turned into what the original St Francis in Fairmount turned into. I do expect a new hospital to end up somewhere around the Monfort Heights area. I doubt they will put anything near Rybolt or farther west. Keep in mind that when (CPS) Gamble Middle/High School in Westwood is torn down, that will free up a large chunk of land. Other options could include demoing some older retail that has sat vacant and is also outdated. They won't stray to far from the Glenway corridor though.
  20. Mercy plans new hospital Western Hills, Mount Airy affected BY CLIFF PEALE | [email protected] http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080608/BIZ01/806080341/1076/BIZ Mercy Health Partners is planning a new hospital on the west side of Hamilton County that would replace two of its oldest hospitals, Mercy Western Hills and Mercy Mount Airy. 2nd that!
  22. ^I think that ideology has a VERY good chance of becoming reality. Redevelopment will occur, but not all at once. It will happen over time though!! Who's to say streetcars/Lt rail won't make a comeback within the next 15-20 years? (to the Ham. Cty burbs) It's an entirely new ballgame then!!!
  23. Good write up!!
  24. ^There is quite a bit of street life throughout the area. I am over there almost everyday and it amazes me how many walkers w/ strollers/ dogs etc. are out. Next time your in this area, get off of Glenway via any of the side streets. You might be surprised. A NBD is only a matter of time. Neighbors in this area are pretty involved and they have been discussing this. ^^ I believe they are getting a streetscape soon too from Gurley to Crookshank.(TIF money used, but read it last year, I think.) Not sure about that though, It had Cranley written all over it!!!!!!!! He promises alot to westsiders in election years. None that I can think of, actually coming to fruition. He is all talk!!!!!!
