Which one would you close though? Keep in mind the hopes of the city of turning that area into something more productive than what we presently have.(Queen City Barrel, surrounding LPH, Sadamsville projects, City Lights, etc. There is alot on the table right now which HOPEFULLY will have the success that they have had in the East End. (Not so much residential, I know near LPH and Queensgate) but Green Industry and Commercial would compliment the residential neighborhood already in place up on the hill. There would be nothing worse than giving one of these arteries up and then 5-10 years down the road, wishing you had it back.

  3. Group Working To Rehab Price Hill http://www.wcpo.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=5ed81d3f-f177-45e4-b186-d19716b2729b Last Update: 5:59 pm Web produced by: Alyssa Bunn http://pricehillwill.org/ A local group has completed another successful rehab project on an old dilapidated house in Price Hill. The home in the 400 block of Purcell Avenue is the latest renovation project completed by Price Hill Will. Price Hill Will is a comprehensive community development corporation serving Price Hill, in the City of Cincinnati. The rehabbed home on Purcell Avenue is now ready to go on the market for $80,000 through the group's "Buy-Improve-Sell" program. Price Hill Will has so far sold all seven homes it purchased with the help of grants and volunteers. The success of PHW has been paying off for the new owners and their neighbors. "Almost all of them, first time home buyers," explained Matt Strauss of Price Hill Will. "Almost all of our houses have sold to people from outside of the city who decided they wanted to move back into the city. We're selling them great houses that don't need any maintenance for years to come because everything's brand new." The group's goal is to purchase, rehab and sell a dozen homes every year.

Nature will keep taking the creek back!! There is nowhere (or will ever be) industry along that creek like the turn of the 19th century.

He is right to an extent, but that's Cincy for ya. Give it the next 6 months w/ knocking on the $4/gallon gas. Eigth and State, I have been hearing more and more stories recently of families moving (or returning) into westside neighborhoods from Indy and up North. And some friends of mine who WERE looking to move to Indy and deeper south into NKY, have changed their tune and are NOW looking heavily in Cheviot,Covedale, Delhi, and Bridgetown (Less than 5 miles from DT Cincy). IMO, I think 1st Gen burbs are going to come out of this looking pretty good. Society has to let go of this " I have to keep up with the Jones" mentality. (Like a New house, new SUV, in a town 40 miles from the city defines you as a successful individual!!!!!!!! Add on the debt they can't afford.) That ideology is just about dead!!
  14. I lived within a 2 mile radius of 2 of these stores 4 years ago. (Bridgetown & Glenway) Today, at that same locale, I have a choice of over 15. Unnecessary!!! I HOPE THIS CLOSES THEM ALL DOWN!!
  15. "To build a modern replica of the Delta Queen would cost about $33 million," Webster. said "So, they probably could not get much more than that if they were to sell her. The other factor is, without that exemption, she's basically worthless. She can't function as a day tripper. She couldn't make enough money to support herself." This will be the kicker. I wish these guys luck. Very interesting article! She would be a great addition to B&B's Fleet..

My sister is a nurse and all of her co-workers have moved here from rural Ohio towns (many from the northern part of the state). Alot of them are in that 24-30 year old range Cincinnati health care jobs get tougher to fill Overall vacancy rates in 32 "hard-to-fill" health care positions increased to 6.3 percent in 2008 from 5.2 percent last year, according to the Greater Cincinnati Health Council. The vacancy rate for registered nurses increased to 7.3 percent from 5.7 percent, the health council reports in its 2008 vacancy report, which contains 2008 vacancy data from area hospitals. But the region has been successful in recruiting new people to the nursing, said Mary Duffey, executive director of the council's Health Care Workforce Center. Approximately 73.8 percent of nurses employed in area hospitals are under age 50. Nearly half are under 40. 17. Payday officials: Bill would cost 6,000 jobs BY ALEXANDER COOLIDGE | [email protected] http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080502/BIZ01/805020356/1076/BIZ Roughly 6,000 workers at payday lending shops would lose their jobs if Ohio legislators enact annual interest limits of 28 percent as outlined in a bill that passed the Ohio House this week, industry officials said Thursday. Industry officials say the proposed law meant to alleviate consumer debt in Ohio would force payday lending shops to close their doors and force their customers to either bounce checks or turn to unregulated payday lending via the Internet. House Bill 545 is now headed for debate in the Senate next week. The outcome will affect lenders such as Mason-based Check 'n Go, which has also criticized efforts to cap fees as an effective ban on the industry.
  18. Wal-Mart size reduction may bring new site plan BY STEVE KEMME | [email protected] FAIRFAX - The Red Bank Village commercial development on the former Ford transmission plant site might wind up with one more office building than originally planned. After Wal-Mart officials announced that their store at Red Bank Village would be 140,000 square feet instead of 203,000 square feet, Fairfax officials asked the site developer, Regency Centers, the Jacksonville, Fla.-based developer, to consider using the extra space for a third office building. Adding an office building the same size as the other two - 35,200 square feet - could yield an estimated $132,000 more in earnings tax revenue a year, Village Administrator Jennifer Kaminer said. Fairfax has an annual budget of about $2 million. "It would work out great for the village," Mayor Ted Shannon said. To allow for the possibility of a third office building, Regency Centers must submit a new site concept plan to Fairfax. It must be approved by the village planning commission and Village Council. Although village officials are expected to approve the plan, the process will push back the start of construction of the Wal-Mart store from early summer to late summer, said Tony Haslinger, the Regency Centers' senior project manager. 23. This link is somewhat relevant. How does a popular suburban waterpark (Surf Cincinnati) in the northern burbs of Cincy end up looking like this after being abandoned 6 years ago? Possibly, an eerie glimpse into the future of the burbs. http://www.abandonedbutnotforgotten.com/surf_cincinnati.htm
  24. ^Agree! My buddies new house is not even two months old yet drywall screws are popping through the drywall on just about every wall. I strongly recommend NOT buying a Maple Street Home!!!!
