"SAVE THE DELTA QUEEN - BRING HER HOME"
^I believe it! It's sad that is what polotics in this country has come to. I just don't want Dubai. Shanghai, or some podunk Illinois town to ultimately get this boat. It belongs here if the rest of the country has no use for her any more.

"SAVE THE DELTA QUEEN - BRING HER HOME"
I still think Chabot or somebody in Cincy should offer to keep her here AT THE BANKS. From what I understand, they won't allow overnight cruises, but are they going to allow day cruises or are they shutting the door completely????? It would look good either way sitting or boarding at the new Central Riverfront Park. From the Cincinnati Enquirer: Delta Queen's luck runs out BY MALIA RULON | [email protected] WASHINGTON - A motion offered in the House to allow the historic Delta Queen steamboat to continue operating for another decade failed Thursday.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Streetcars get go-ahead THE ENQUIRER Cincinnati City Council today approved a proposed streetcar plan that has a $65 million question mark on funding. The vote was 6-2. The streetcar system would link downtown, Over-the-Rhine and Uptown. The action gives City Manager Milton Dohoney authority to start looking for private contributors to help pay for the streetcars. Construction cannot begin until those contributions are guaranteed. Dohoney’s original plan called for about $30 million in private contributions, sponsorships or other participation. He told the committee earlier he could not start asking for that money without the backing of a formal commitment from City Council. The plan adopted today calls for building a connector that goes up the hill from Over-the-Rhine to Uptown at the same time a downtown loop is built. The addition of the Uptown connector adds an extra $35 million to the $102 million price tag for Dohoney’s original proposal. City officials now must come up with a way to cover that cost before proceeding. Voting against the proposal were council members John Cranely and Chris Monzel. Voting for were Jeff Berding, Chris Bortz, David Crowley, Leslie Ghiz, Roxanne Qualls and Cecil Thomas. Absent was Lakota Cole.

So is there no looking back at this point? Does this actually give the powers that be (Dohoney) the go-ahead to persue the hows and whens of the project?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
I actually think that dogs should and will be allowed. I don't believe that Fountain Square is an actual Cincinnati Park...please correct me if I'm wrong. I was shaking my head because I don't even think it is an issue. Dogs will certainly be allowed at the CRP. It should all be good as long as it's on a leash.

Cincinnati: Western Hills: Development and News
I personally have to hand it to the Cheviot officials for having the initiative to step up and get this job done before ANOTHER absentee Swiss bank allowed it to become a gutted run down disaster. This has to be the Westside's best neighborhood example for community involvement that really makes a difference. Cheviot Population (2000) - Total 9,015 - Density 7,753.5/sq mi (2,993.6/km²) Hopefully they get there hands around this before it will create any ever lasting problems for the city. Cheviot ready to sell its first $1 home BY KURT BACKSCHEIDER | [email protected] http://news.communitypress.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080411/NEWS01/804110377/1067/RSS1103 CHEVIOT - John Erdman certainly appreciates all the work the city has put into renovating the vacant house next door to him. "It's going to make the value of my house better," said the longtime Davis Avenue resident. Click on link for article.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I sit near the fence on this issue, but you can argue that statement in reverse from the other point of view as well. For some of these inner city kids brought up in the status quo, escaping to the burbs is there one ticket in life to make something of that opportunity. (Safer streets / better public education) Wheter they capitalize on that opportunity is the million dollar question that reinforces this theory. I agree 110% Banks related...... this crap isn't going to effect the project.
