Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
^See, some of us westsiders believe in this idea too! It's not quite as lopsided as some folks and voting precincts lead on for it to be. As a side note to that, much of the talk I had over the holidays with friends and family revealed to me a rather large hidden force over here that is now secretly rooting for this thing to work, because they want a bigger system. They may have not wanted this at first (you know grumpy old men, type), but they want this built at this point, without a doubt. Many people have come to terms with where we need to go from here, even if they weren't for rail at all. It has been a pleasant and surprising development in this ongoing saga and the people I associate with. My cousins and I finally got to join the big kid table for the holidays this year!

They were saw cutting Main St near GAB today. Is this streetcar related?

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I understand the first load of rebar for beneath the track was delivered to the site yesterday. Has anyone seen any rod busters placing the steel yet today? If so, can someone be kind enough as to please take a picture or two. I'm out of town for the next few days and I'm dying to see some steel go in the ground.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
The company I work for is in the beginning stages of fabricating and shipping what will ultimately be 420 tons of rebar for this project. I assure you, this project is going to start moving at a pretty impressive pace here VERY SOON!

Perhaps it's time to talk rail again...

Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
Keep in mind we have a casino now which is also driving people to stay downtown more than past years. Two recent personal stories: 1.) We had some friends come in town last minute a few months back during the weekend of the Taste of Cincy. They tried every hotel downtown, Covington, and as far out as I-74 Rybolt. Every one was booked solid. They ended up staying farther north of the city. 2.) I took a trip to Cleveland a few weeks back and ran into the same problem there. Most of the hotels I've stayed in the past were booked solid three weeks out. I luckily got a cancelled room at the Marriot last minute. I think these casinos have been a game changer in driving the hotel industry in Ohio over the past year. Not to mention the many other events that are happening it seems every week/weekend downtown.

^Keep in mind they need to finish the top level of the parking garage which will support that building too. Not sure if they are including that in the timeline. That may be what they start in December. I'm sure that will take several months to complete which will add to the ultimate completion date.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Didn't Prus Construction get the streetcar bid under Messer? Seems odd that they would support anyone who is going to threaten taking away business from them.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
Yea that's better than anything built at the Banks or USquare and looks a whole lot better than the proposed Delta Flats or Northside development. I agree neilworms, I hope they make it to Cincy soon. The stuff they are building here is horrible looking!

I have a buddy who works for the Reds. He's been telling me lately how incredibly packed they are in the admin building of the stadium. Some office workers are even using closets, so the rumor is it won't be long before they either build on somewhere within the GAB grounds or rent some of the office space that may eventually be built at the Banks. They might even be a good tenant for 3CDC's remodel of the buildings at third and main.

US Economy: News & Discussion
Can anyone explain in greater detail where Cincinnati would pick up 29% growth in the natural resources and mining sector? Could that really be right and what kind of jobs are considered here? Are these jobs from the fracking on the eastern side of the state? USAToday interactive http://www.usatoday.com/interactives/money/where-the-jobs-are/

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fountain Square West
^fact. A couple friends of mine from Charlotte made this very comment on the visit up last month. "Kinda looks like a building is missing there." as they pointed to the western section of FS. I feel this will finally complete the entire block nicely.

The Westwood that could - maybe Small group dreams big about its neighborhood's future http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20121121/NEWS01/311210021/The-Westwood-could-maybe Their vision would restore the district as the heart of Westwood, Cincinnati’s largest neighborhood with almost 30,000 residents. It features a village green where Harrison and Urwiler avenues now intersect, much like the grassy island separating Erie Avenue in Hyde Park Square. One-way traffic would flow around each side of the island, with shops and restaurants all around it.
