Cincinnati: Downtown: Fort Washington Way Cap
With The Banks under way, you can bet that we are going to start hearing more about this as construction moves forward. Report proposes building atop Fort Washington Way BY JESSICA BROWN | [email protected] Windmills on the riverfront? An aerial tram from downtown to Newport? The ideas might not be so far-fetched. They were among many suggestions voiced by a group of Greater Cincinnati residents when asked what should be built on proposed decks above Fort Washington Way, an underground expressway along the Ohio River. A report with the ideas will be presented to the Cincinnati Planning Commission with the goal of being included in the city's master plan for the riverfront. "(The decks are) the size of three Fountain Squares in a critical part of downtown," said Paul Muller, of Paul Muller Architects and a member of the Cincinnati Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. "We have a vibrant riverfront and a vibrant downtown. This is a very important link." AIA hosted a day-long session last August called "Greening the Gap," in which it invited the public to share proposals for the space. The final report was presented Monday to Hamilton County Commissioners. Among the suggestions: a water feature, bike path, veterans' park, greenhouse, an aerial tram, and mixed commercial and residential buildings. Any buildings would be limited to four or five stories. Commuter Rail, Interurban Style - Michigan City, IN
That is great! They should have done this with the Newport KY line that used to go across the Purple People Bridge. ( I can't seem to find that old pic of BEFORE NOTL was built. It is running around this forum somewhere.)

The Banks GROUNDBREAKING! ... Yes folks, hell has frozen over...
Not to take ANYTHING away from this awesomeness, but I wonder if this will give Ovation a swift kick in the ars and get it into the news soon with a possible start date. Big Bill may have a sleepless night tonight.... This is awesome though!! I am trying to fathom the thought of TOWER CRANES all over the basin and tracks being laid in pavement by next Spring... (Banks, QCSII,One River Place,Ovation, Southshore....etc....etc..... & hopefully the streetcar tracks to connect to all. ) We are about to see more action downtown in 2 years, than (I) have seen in my last 28 years.

MCGURK | [email protected] DAYTON, Ohio Almost 1,000 projects worth $2.5 billion will keep road crews busy and motorists irked across Ohio this summer. Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
^ It will definitely shut the haters down! The only thing they can hold over our heads now will be the decade of squabbling. But I think that even that goes away as soon as we see something start rising out of the ground. We need to get QCSII & this friggin streetcar going so everything will REALLY start falling into place. This is really a historic day in the Nati!!

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Oh, don't worry about us! (Westside) We have already shot ourselves in the foot by developing our main line into crap. Glenway Crossing......etc. That Oasis line sounds very interesting though, especially by AVOIDING the Mill Creek Valley to get North.
