  1. Does anyone know what’s going on with the parking lot next to the Salvation Army on Main & Central? I assumed they were just tearing up the asphalt to resurface, but walking by I noticed there was Urban Sites signage on the fencing around the land. Do they own this lot, and if so is that something new?
  2. Very glad to see this finally break ground... At this point I'm honestly surprised that this project managed to survive the years of frivolous litigation against it; I guess I just don't understand why some people were mounting a ridiculous crusade against the construction of this substantial housing development (when housing is so desperately needed) on what is otherwise an empty lot. Props to the developer that purchased and seemingly saved it.
  3. Glad to see this space getting such a sizeable development, although I would love for all that empty space at E McMillian and Auburn to get some action as well. Perhaps that might be in the cards for the future seeing as it is noted as "currently owned land" on these site plans. I also like the idea of a row of townhomes along Inwood Park, and I'm very glad to see that they aren't demolishing the buildings at the corner of Vine and E McMillian.
  4. In the past couple of days fencing has gone up around the front and rear of the Millennium Hotel, and this morning I noticed O’Rourke demolition signage being put up on the fencing. Has anyone heard anything about a new timetable for demolition/replacement? I know it was supposed to start last year, but I’m assuming those plans were yet another victim of COVID.
  5. Seeing as this is what just happened, I'd say you might have been onto something.
  6. That does seem like a tight fit, but I believe the building stretches the entire block to 5th street. Is that correct? https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1003903,-84.5183393,3a,60y,169.16h,102.96t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1skBEq-CRoRSjzHoKrSzfE4Q!2e0!7i16384!8i8192
  7. Agreed, it would be such a shame if they were unable to save that bell tower. I was very surprised to see that the church was applying for demolition permits... You'd think that some organization/development group would want to help with the preservation of this, if for no other reason than for the PR with the community.
  8. I have been curious about the same thing. If you look at the pictures, those buildings had clearly been vacant for some time and were not in good shape. Judging by appearances though, that little mini-neighborhood looked very dense and if renovated/developed it might have been able to support a similar amount of units to One41 just to the north. I wonder what the reasoning was for tearing down so many large and (seemingly) historic buildings. Is/was there some plan to building something on that site? Were they just too dilapidated for any renovation to be feasible? So far as I am aware that land is still sitting empty and unused.
  9. Pictures of the construction progress from the Hyatt today (4/28). It really is a huge building.
