That's awesome!! I concur, once Astor Park is built out, all 4 corners will have their own independent look and feel.

Licking County: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionRandom question, do any of you remember the "The Estates at Olde Orchard Farms" development? It was a massive development that spanned both Newark and Granville boundries? The development only got the 1st of many proposed phases completed, but the recession hit and ultimately was put on halt. Does anybody know if the development ever has any plans of resurfacing? There was plans on the northern boundary for almost a "town center" type of development. I would love to see this development resurface. Where the red arrow is, that is the only phases that ever got off and running. The massive development would have had 4 different access points. The area in orange is where they wanted to place a mini town center type of development. Curious if anybody has ever heard whatever happened to this development? This is the entrance to the development.

Licking County: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOh for sure...at least 25-30 years away, IF that ever happens. Licking County will make a push though. Licking County, once you get into the Newark vicinity, starts to change topography wise. Lots of beautiful rolling hills that are primed for development. It just gives Licking County a different feel, than that of Delaware County. Yes, not only with I-70 and US40 running right through the county East and West, but 161 is four lanes all the way to I-77 as well. With 310, SR37 and SR79 as major roadways that connect I-70 and 161 running North and South, the county is primed for major development over the next few decades. I would add that with the MAJOR improvements in infrastructure and future development plans of Buckeye Lake, Licking County is in a great position for growth. It truly is a great time to be from around here. It's noticeable in almost every facet of life.

Licking County: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction161 through New Albany to about 310 is ridiculous anymore. Traffic backed up every day. The further East you go it thins out, but as growth continues to explode in Western Licking County, its going to be an issue. As for Watkins, in 20 years, they could easily need either a 2nd high school, or a Etna splits. Licking Heights as well. They just built a brand new high school after only 10 years of being in another brand new high school. Again, Licking County is exactly where Delaware county was 20-25 years ago.

Licking County: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWith Etna, Pataskala, Reynoldsburgh and even New Albany population growth booming in Western Licking County and couple that with Newark, Heath and Granville already going through their own population growth, Licking County is positioned for tremendous growth in the next decade. I always tell people, Licking County is exactly where Delaware county was in 2000. I hope they consider widening 161 at some point as well as population continues to rise. The Etna area, with US 40 and all the businesses locating in that area, is going through drastic change. I wonder how this will impact SWL Schools and if it will ever get to a point where Etna becomes it's own independent school district with this much growth?

Is this going to be concrete all the way up? I get that pouring concrete is timely, but the post showing the comparison proves my point. From FEB 24th to Apr 12th, they added 1 floor. In the Feb 24th pic, you can see the really thick piece of concrete being framed. In the Apr 12th pic, you can see that their is only 1 floor (possibly 2, i cant tell if that's 1 or 2?) above it. It is what it is, i was just simply stating it seems like its moving slow. By comparison, they two structures on the Scioto Peninsula are in warp speed. Maybe its just me lol....

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe blue line is the proposed bridge and extension, as you can see the red line showing Newark City Limits, this goes over a creek, which is somehow Granville? It just seems a little strange to me that building the massive new Thornwood Crossing, just to the North would be completed without a previous agreement to build this 2nd phase?

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSo why is Newark footing 100% of the bill then? Is it because Granville would have shot this down too if they were asked to foot their part of the bill? Hmmmmm...Seems like Granville somehow yields a ton of power. Also, yes i believe the plan is to level out the hill on Thornwood Drive. The entire corridor has a widening plan, which would open up thousands of acres of prime real estate for development.

From the Feb 24th posting at the top of the page, up to today, there really hasn't been any drastic changes. It's moving very slow!

I feel like construction on this is taking forever. Weeks of updates and it doesn't really feel like much has changed in my opinion. Am i the only one who feels this way? Why aren't we seeing steel going up every day by now?

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Constructionhttps://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/local/granville/2021/04/14/granville-council-affirms-newark-thornwood-bridge-roundabout-plan/7123965002/ This is great news...finally its happening! By building this bridge and interchange, the eventual built out plan calls for Thornwood to be widened from 16 to 79 opening up thousands of acres of land for development. One little nugget to this article...i'm so glad that Granville gave Newark the go ahead, even though we are funding 100% of the project...how generous of them. Talk about patting themselves on the back. They even reference the recent decision by the city of Newark and the River Road development project that was paused, due to Granville, stating "added-on goodwill with them". Almost sounds like a quid pro quo was established. Either cancel the River Road project or we wont sing off on the Thornwood Crossing project, that's what that sounds like to me? Anyway, glad to see this happening. This is going to benefit the entire Greater Newark Area.

WOW....this thing is hitting the final stretches. In the very last picture, you can see how the roofing structure looks like it has a "see through" element that you cant see from the outside. This makes me really want to see some pictures when they finally test the lights at night. I have a feeling the best kept secret of this stadium is going to be the visual of the stadium when its light up at night. Lastly, i actually like the seating design. It has slowly grown on me and adds a cool element to the stadium. Just my opinion though. All in all, this stadium is really shaping up to be a true gem.

Whats really a pleasant surprise, is that when you look North from Crew Stadium Site, the White Castle development has become a very nice back drop. Really please with how that turned out.

Wow...does anybody know if something imminent is being planned for The Triangle and the area just across the RR Tracks that was recently cleared out? That piece of land should now be considered prime real estate! I don't care how funky the layout is, use some creativity and plan for something BIG there. That could be the center piece of the entire AD if they do it right. So interesting! When you look at it from these type of views, you realize just how much of the AD is left to be developed and how much potential there is!

Seriously...wow!!! That seems really petty....but anyway, thanks for the heads up! I thought my explanation point and/or the previous sentence where i used the word "great" for Cincinnati and Ohio would have been the give away that i was being sincere and honest....which i was!! I'm hoping that for Cleveland as well. I'm as pro-Ohio as one can be! If you need any more proof, go look in my Newark threads lol. Anyway...really looking froward to seeing the build out of Astor Park.

Well it clearly wasn't intended that way. It was 100% a positive remark. I have no idea how a compliment on Cincinnati's positive population growth can be taken as negative? My goodness!! However, i do appreciate your shot at my grammar while ironically calling me out? lol You seem to have a way of always finding the negative in any of my posts. Its actually sort of weird. Please stop.

Cincy's stadium just doesn't move the needle THAT way for me. I really really like the site and setting of the new Crew stadium. I love the sharp corners and clean look of it. I think what separates the two is that Astor Park and the AD have much brighter future in the final build out. In 5-10 years, Crew stadium could look even more amazing by its surrounding. Curious, does Cincinnati have a plan to build out the area around their stadium? Don't get me wrong, its a nice stadium and is great for Cincinnati and Ohio! I hope that keeps Cincinnati's slowly gaining population growth going!

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Constructionhttps://www.newarkadvocate.com/ This is GREAT news!! Another new subdivision is being built in Newark, this time on the North end in a beautiful area around the Licking Springs Trout Club Golf Course. This area has some beautiful topography. The price range for these homes will be very affordable and a welcome addition to the market. Good things continue to happen in Newark. The new subdivision will be built in the area in yellow. The two areas in red are currently in development and exploding with new homes being built as well. Again, thats a beautiful area of Newark.

FINALLY....A pick that shows this angle of the new stadium. Almost all of the pics are from the other side of the stadium. They have been keeping this side a big secret from us. Looks absolutely fantastic.

Now THAT is a parking garage..finally!! I hope this garage will sort of reset the standard for future garages being built. Columbus should tell all developers, it needs to be in this league or its a "no go". That will add some nice variance to the area.

I like that fact that they have plans for that parcel of land and the fact its a 20 story concept....i dont know if i like the fact its for senior living. Not that i'm anti-senior living, but with this area being the newest buzz, it just seems a little out of place to me.

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Constructionhttps://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2021/02/26/buckeye-shooting-center-open-newarks-far-east-end-september/6806859002/ I have been meaning to post this article. Newark is set to have a state of the art shooting center open on the far east end. A new 3 million dollar facility with 12 lanes distancing 75 feet, 360 degree interactive targets, a state of the art pro shop of nearly 6,000 ft...AND a training/vocational academy for new gun owners. It will employ 28 people. I cant stress how important the educational part of this will be as sky rocketing first time gun owners are women. This place will be packed as there is nothing like this in a 3-4 county region to the North, South and East of Newark. The facility will be located just west of the Longaberger basket where the red icon is.
